Our trip couldn't have been better, unless it was longer! Everything about it was amazing ... the staff was always helpful ... and friendly, and got us into an upgraded room with no problems. The pool was great, there were plently of chairs and towels available. The beach was picture perfect, and so close to the pool and outdoor bar. We dined at Da Vinci restaurant one night and were surprised at how great the food was - we expected less quality for an All Inclusive plan. Every day we had breakfast buffet at Corals and loved it, and had lunch at Sea Breeze or the Iguana Bar. It was perfect every day, and I cannot wait to go back!

I've been to many all-inclusive beach resort, but all in Mexico. We decided to try a new place this time. Id have to say, ... I'm going back to Mexico next time! Aruba in general is way more crowded than Mexico beaches. The holiday Inn had one of the largest beaches of the resorts, and we went in low season, and it was still so very crowded. The hotel was average, we got a remodeled room, and it was perfect. The view was half of a rooftop and the other half ocean view. the best part of the hotel was the food- by far better than any other all-inclusive Ive stayed at- VERY good. The service was very lackluster- no one seemed to care or smile- but that didnt really bother me. What we HATED was the Palapa system. We had to wake up at 6:30 every day to get a spot on the beach. The palapas are reserved for the day- so everyone waits in line early (hut opens at 7:30, people are in line at 6!) Without a palapa- it gets VERY hot. The sun is so much hotter than Mexico- no breeze to cool you off- so even us sun-bunnies needed shade. The bed in our room was so comfortable but since we had to wake up earlier than we do at home on our vacation- it ruined a lot. Ive heard most hotels on the island do it this way- so if that is true- the HI is a good choice for a mid-range vacation. Id have to say that was our only complaint. Also- they say "non motorized sports are included"- but they charged $5 to rent a foam float pad!!!

We had great difficulty finding a room that met our needs. Several floors of the hotel smelled of mold and would have been ... impossible to stay there. We ended up with great rooms on the 7th floor but after great ado. We have been coming here for years and want to continue to do so. The cleanliness of the breakfast/lunch buffet was not up to par. The lack of choices for restaurants is a definite negative. The maid staff was fantastic. The staff are extremely nice. We have tried to get adjoining rooms every year for three years. This time we got rooms next to each other but that was after a lot of manuevering. We enjoyed a hut every day and the pool bar. The food was much better the last 2 years than it was this year.

The most upsetting issue with the hotels was the restaurants, when you have purchased your ALL INCLUSIVE vacation package. ... They had 2 nice restaurants to dine in for the evening meal, but they only had ONE open per night. You could only make your reservations the same day by being at the service desk at 8 am. (no phone reservation) If you were not there by 9 am your out of luck. The service desk lady told my husband he should have got up early. This is vacation! This means you get to sleep in! We did not get to eat at either place. It was a waste of our money to go all inclusive. We ordered a coke at the bar in the front lobby. The waiter was not pleasant and just shoved a receipt at us and said "sign this". Most of the other people were not like this, but when you have a few it can change your whole out look. The rooms do need some attention, but someone always came in and made the beds and straightened the room. You can rent vehicle at the hotel which is very handy and there are several nice shops inside the hotel.

This was our second trip to Aruba & we have already started planning our third trip. We were extremely disappointed in the ... room. We paid extra for a room with a view & found ourselves looking at a view of the rooftop. When we arrived, the bathroom was filthy & had vomit on the bathrooms walls. After complaining three times, the hotel staff managed to mop the pubic hairs off the bathroom floor, but the vomit was still on the bathroom walls. We were totally disappointed & disgusted with the room. We will not be staying at the Holiday Inn or probably ANY Holiday Inn again.

This is the bottom of my list for All Inclusive I have stayed with in the Carribean. The food was bad even in the two dinner ... reservation places. The pool was very small and no entertainment for the guest except small dance routine Sunday night. The only friendly staff were the guys at the Pool bar. The front desk staff were unfriendly as compared to other All Inclusive sites. There was no friendly greeting like they were happy to have you stay with them. I would not come back to this hotel Holiday Inn Sunspree.

We found Heaven on Earth

We planned our trip for one of Aruba's off-seasons. I believe this is one of the key reasons why we were so satisfied. First, ... we got an amazing deal on the trip...because we paid so little money we did not have any expectations. Upon arrival we were immediately romanticized by the overall scene of the island. The hotel room was standard...but who needs a palace hotel room when you should be spending all the time on the white sand beach in the glorious sun? Because it was not a busy month on the island we did not have to wait in any lines, or make reservations ahead, and we had an opportunity to get to know the bar and restaurant staff. Everyone was more than pleasant-always a smile. The beach at the hotel was perfect. Very clean-and again not crowded. We ate all our meals at the hotel for the first couple of days. After that we generally would eat breakfast and lunch at the hotel then venture out to one of the featured spots for dinner. This was a last minute trip for us and my first time to Aruba. We were more than satisfied with our stay.

There are several delicious places to eat within a short walking distance of the hotel. My recommendations would be: Le Petit Cafe- food is served raw on a hot granite stone. You cut, cook, and eat your food. So fresh! The Iguana Cantina directly across the street has delicious Mexican food- great burritos, fajitas, tacos, etc. Salt and Pepper is down the street a little bit but it is a cool place. Great place to hang out for a beer and grab some tapas. Delicious tapas! Other places we heard were great but we ran out of time to try include: Texas de Brazil, El Gauchos, Tango, and Amazonia (all these restaurants are in immediate-to-short walking distance from the hotel). It is an excellent idea to rent a jeep for the day and do your own off-roading around the island. It is very reasonable to rent a jeep for 24 hrs. ($65-$95) and then you can enjoy any part of the island at your own pace. And you go swimming anywhere on the island-all the beaches are public.

we had a great time at the Holiday Inn although some of the staff was not the friendliest. we did the all inclusive and i ... would say overall it was worth it. the restaurants had semi-decent food. there should have been 2 restaurants opened for dinner but 3 of the nights one of the restaurants was closed. if you don't get up early to make a reservation for dinner you won't get in. you also have to get up early to reserve an umbrella. we did not get up early enough so we did not get umbrellas. we didn't mind because the water is absolutely beautiful we were in it the entire day. many activities available on the beach. the hotel offers kayaks, paddleboats, and snorkeling equip if you do the all incluseive but we were not able to get snorkeling equip the entire trip bc it was always being used. recommend the jolly pirate snorkel trip, fun staff, great time! overall, would go back to the holiday inn if i got a good deal. it really has a great location

I just got back from spending a wonderful week vacation at the Holiday Inn in Aruba. I went there with the most precious ... thing in my life (my 75 year old mom). For her I always get the best! It has to be the shortest flights as well as best room and location. First I thought of The Hyatt or the Westin. However after doing my research I went with Holiday Inn because in many things that I cared about it beat both of them: Location (5 Star): Great location (better than the Hyatt or the Westin) with the best beach and lots of close by shops and restaurants. Value (5 Star): We went in early September and they had 65% off all inclusive package which you could not beat. Room (5 Star): We had an Ocean Front Superior room on the 5th floor of the Aruba Tower with excellent views. Aruba and Bonaire are the best two towers they have. our room was very clean and nicely decorated with good beds and a nice size bath. Food: (4 Star): You had 4 restaurants to choose from. Our favorite was the Corals which was all you can eat buffet. You had lots and lots of choices of Salads, Entres, Fruits, Desserts and very good quality. For the other 3 restaurants you only get one salad, one entre and one dessert and you also had to reserve them early morning for evening seating. Night Entertainment (3 Star): They had some dancers and singers ..etc. during most evenings around 8-10 p.m. which were nice for my mom but nothing to write home about. If I go back to Aruba I will surely stay at the Holliday Inn again and this time it will be the Bonaire Tower 6th or 7th floor.

We went all inclusive. The food was average. Service was friendly. Our 4th day there we came back to our room at 11pm to ... find hundreds of tiny bugs (gnat like) all over our bed and both lamps. We called the front desk who sent a man up. He stated that if he sprayed them we could not sleep in the room that night, which we didn't want to do anyway. We contacted the hotel night manager who told us that this type of bug is normal in Aruba and she would change our room in the morning. After getting loud with her on the phone she finally changed our room close to midnight. To make up for their uncaring attitude, the next day they sent a bottle of wine, some fruit, water and 2 hotel T-shirts to our room. Too little too late. We will definitely go back to Aruba but I am not sure if we will go to the Holiday Inn.

Holiday Inn Sunspree Aruba Resort
Shelly Sep 18, 2009
The Holiday Inn is mediocre at best. It is probably the best value for your money on the island. The biggest downside of ... the hotel is it's size. The hotel is the largest on the island and poorly staffed. The customer service is sub-standard and can easily leave you frustrated. We were pretty frustrated with our experience when we checked it because we were placed in a smoking room and not told at check-in. We tried to rectify the problem but were told they had no rooms available. Beach huts - Because of it is such a large hotel, there are not enough beach huts to accommodate the guests (and believe me you will need one). You line up no later than 6am (yes 6am) to ensure you get one. There are only 100 and the sign-up does not begin until 8am so generally by 8:15am all of the huts are gone for the day. Dinner reservations - the hotel has 4 restaurants. Only 2 are worth dining, which means you also have to line up at 7am to get reservations. The concierge desk starts taking reservations at 8am. This is particularly frustrating if you have the all inclusive plan and can't eat at the property restaurants. (The buffet restaurant is pretty bad for dinner. You are better off going off the property) Hotel Nightclub - Has not been open for a year! We attempted to go on our first night and it was closed. We were later informed that it is never open Would we stay again? - No. Mostly because when we am on vacation - the last thing we want to do is have to get up at 5am to make sure we get a beach hut or dinner reservations

In Aruba the public bus is inexpensive and easy to use. There is a bus stop in front of most hotels where you can go to Oranjestad for $2.30 round trip. Use correct change whenever possible...most often change is given in local currency instead of American money. American money is the preferred currency of most vendors.

You have to sign for everything even if you are all inclusive so be prepared. The resturants are undersized within the hotel, and you have to wait in line to get a reservation every morning, so if you want to eat in a resturant that is not buffet style, be awake to get in line. They close fast. Also you have to get in line for a hut on the beach. These are really needed because the sun is hot. This opens at 7:30 am and expect a line of about 50 people at that point. may want to wake up early every day...
