We were disappointed that there was no complimentary breaksfast as in other Holiday Inns. We had to validate our own ... breakfast coupons by going to the reservations desk and then bringing it back to the rooftop restaurant - could have verified via computer/taken our word as guests and/or billed us upon check out. I felt that I was being "bossed around" and disrespected. Gym was great and rooms clean - great location. Again, poor customer service.

The hotel was very conveniently located. We walked to Arlington Nat'l Cemetery and then into Washington DC. We retuned on ... the metro and used it on our second day. The staff at the front desk were helpful and polite, the housekeeping staff appeared to be friendly. I was very disappointed in the restaurant. At lunch the hamburger roll was stale and fell apart, french fries were not fresh and were cold. The waiter was polite and he did offer a $5 discount because of the food. We did not return for dinner as we planned because of the lunch experience. We did go for breakfast and again we were disappointed. The hostess slouched in her seat, did not offer any information until we asked. She left a very poor impression. The food left a lot to be desired.

Cigerette butts on the balcony and dried toothpaste and soap on the bathroom door. The front desk staff was apathetic at best and generally surly.

Expected better quality, and selection of items on the breakfast buffet, for the price. Staff was very friendly. Would stay again because of the price and location. Eat breakfast out.

Hotel is conveniently located just of the Metro Rosslyn station. The area is not as busy as downtown DC even though it is ... only a 10 minute ride away. The rooms were spotless, the beds and pillows (with a pillow menu for choosy sleepers!) were very comfortable, and even the complimentary items were special (bath and body works soaps and lotions). For the diverse couple or group, nonsmoking rooms are complete with personal balconies for a loved one to enjoy their tobacco without bothering you. I got so much more than expected for such a cheap price.

We were very happy with our stay at this hotel. Great location, easy access to Metro, nice sized rooms, clean, balcony with ... great view of Potomac River and Georgetown. It was only about at 10 minute cabride from Reagan Airport ($20 with tip included). The only thing we didn't like was the Vantage Point restaurant. Food was expensive and NOT good. We ate there twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Both were bad. Staff was less than friendly at the restaurant. It was also somewhat run down. The little coffee shop on first floor (Potomomac Perk) was much better with good breakfast sandwiches, Pannini's etc. A much better buy for your money. We were in D.C. for a sightseeing vacation and had a wonderful time. People in D.C. generally speaking were not the friendliest, all seem put out when asked questions. The sites, however, are defnitely worth the visit. Food was ok at most places. In addition to all of the historic sites, I'd recommend touring the National Cathedral, it was one of our favorites. It takes a good 2-3 hours.

I was in town for the weekend. The best thing about this hotel (to me) is the location--it is fairly close to the sites and ... Georgetown. If you bring a bike, the bike trail is right across the street and after a short bike ride of about 10 minutes you can be riding around the Mall. But there are other comparable motels around the Holiday Inn and I would go elsewhere. My stay started with check in where I was handed inoperable keys to a room right across the hall from the elevators in a very busy hotel. After waiting for one of two elevators that were always jam packed, I got back downstairs to the lobby with all my luggage and did not receive an apology from the check in person that had made the error. Instead I was placed in a very noisy room on a floor that was mainly taken up by people in for a family reunion. My room had an adjourning door that leaked noise all night and day. The doors slammed all night and day from the folks on their family reunion socializing in the halls and in their rooms. Anytime you wanted to go anywhere you had a 5 to 10 minute wait for an elevator that usually showed up so packed full of people and hotel staff that you often ended up waiting even more. The freight elevator apparently was broken as the hotel staff hauled up roll aways and racks of towels using the guest elevator. My room was not clean either. I don't mind shabby but clean...but this was not clean. There was a bandaid and dirty tissue on the floor and toothpaste in the sink from a previous guest. There was not much of a choice of places to eat. There was a high priced deli that was extremely limited in both offerings and hours of availability in the hotel. There was also a higher end restaurant that was stated with a view of DC it did not have. It had only passable food and a rude staff. After finding the deli closed before I got in at 8 pm I rode up the elevator and tried to get a little dessert to take back to my room from the restaurant. I was first told they didn't have any carryout (even though I had a doggy bag the previous night). Then I was told that they would this one time. I shopped quite a bit on line and this hotel was not really that cheap in comparison to others. I chose it because it was closest to the bridge, which it is. But I would definitely go somewhere else next time. The other hotels are not that far from this Holiday Inn and I certainly hope they would have better service and cleanliness standards.

A Great Place to Stay
FriendsFromOhio Aug 17, 2009
This trip was a last ditch effort at a family vacation before school started. Our plans were to visit D.C., enjoy the sites, ... and not spend our life savings! We were able to do all three!!! We had a great time, and the hotel accomidations were wonderful. We were located about a block and a half from the Rosslyn Metro Station, where we purchased daily passes for the rail. (This is great if you have children, as our daughter got tired, and was ready for a nap and a break mid-day!! The cost per trip would have been about $4 more per person for the day had we not purchasd the daily pass) The hotel staff was very helpful to fill us in on cheaper places to dine, especially the McDonalds just around the corner for picky breakfast eaters!! We also had leftovers from a superb dinner at Famous Luigis and needed a fridge. The staff located one and brought it to the room in less than 10 minutes!! Overall, a great experience. We didn't get a chance to visit the pool, however it looked refreshing and very clean.

The Metro Rail is definetally the way to go. Get a good map of the area which can be found online just about anywhere, and make sure you know your stops. It was a neat experience for us being from Ohio where we have no rail lines like that. Our daughter also really enjoyed it. With the daily pass, you can see a ton of different things, and minimize walking on that second and third day when everyones feet are tired!

The Metro station is only a block and a half away and amounted to a grand total of about $10 a person for 3 trips into the DC Mall area and back. We also took two one way trips in a chauffeur driven Lincoln Town Car from the hotel front door to the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials for $15 each one way (plus tip). The car seemed to be on standby at the hotel in the morning. We just called the front desk and the car was waiting at the door for us.
