I stayed a full week here. No complaints!!! Excellent hotel. Very comfortable and staff always aimed to please. Standard ... Rooms, have all you need... including a mini-safe to keep valuables in. Free wireless web access was superb inclusive plus point!!! Air con and Cable tv. Very central location. Near to shops, historical buildings and a superb city bus tour service, that allows you to jump on and off as much as you like per day. (See Turibus) Zocalo Sq. can be noisy. (drums banging and horns blowing outside almost continually from neo-aztecs carrying-on) Not hotels fault, just bear in mind when booking. Only Suites have a view of the Zocalo. Standard rooms look out on to a road off the Zocalo - though not unpleasant! although the roof top resturant has one of the best panoramic views in town!!!

Turibus, operates from the side of the cathedral nearest the holiday inn. Pay for a ticket and see the major sites, safely and conveniently on an open top, doubledecker bus. (with multi language tour guide). The ticket allows you to hop off and on as many times as you like in one day. Bus runs every half an hour! (there's a two day ticket too!) Great way to see the city during the day or up until 11pm.

All roads lead to the Zocalo...
Alicia May 27, 2008
The Holiday Inn Zocalo has an unbeatable location. Located in the city's majestic historic square, it is just a stone's throw ... away from coffee shops, restaunrants, museums, parks, and live Aztec-inspired entertainment on the streets. I just loved dining on the hotel's balcony overlooking the square and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Others might frown upon the hourly toll of church bells and the drumbeat of the Indians, especially if you happen to get a room close to the street, but to cultural aficionados like me, all this was wonderful music to my ears. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Zocalo twice. My first stay was superb. I got a spacious room with a jacuzzi. On my next stay, I got a claustrophobically smaller room with no jacuzzi. It all depends on availability. In both cases, though, the staff were always very courteous, helpful, and willing to provide for your needs-- including daily supplies of bottled water. One thing I cannot forget from my stay at the Hotel Zocalo is the fresh clean orange-flavored scent of their carpets and linens. The omelettes (a la carte) of the hotel's balcony restaurant are worth trying, but the buffet didn't look that appealing at all. Don't think the sweet breads that are served in a basket on each table are complimentary; they're not, I learned.

Lots of cheaper eateries within walking distance. Just walk around the hotel and you won't go hungry! Short walk to Palacio de Bellas Artes, Alameda Park, and the Aztec ruins.

When we got to our room ...
Oscar May 4, 2008
When we got to our room it was tiny and the bed matched. I'm 5'5 and the bed was perfect for me alone but my 6'4 230lb ... husbands feet hung off the bed. When we called the front desk to change rooms. So my husband slept diagonally on the bed which made for very sleep less nights for both of us. When we went to dine on their roof top restaurant which over looks the Zocalo, there were no tables available to look out over the Zocalo. We saw a table with a reservation marker on it so we asked if we could make a reservation they said they didn't take reservations. We asked if they could call us in our room when a table became available they said no. We then asked if we could just wait for a table, again they said no. Although I was upset at the time, I have to now thank them because we found this really GREAT restaurant a few blocks away, Cafe Tacuba on Tacuba St. On our 2nd night the ice machine broke down. When we asked the front desk to send some up they told us that we could walk to 7 11 to buy some our selves. No one was really rude to us though, it was all smiles and a bunch of apologies and you can't beat the location. There are a million things to do right outside the hotel just cross the street in every direction. So just for a place to crash it was great.

Take the metro. It is less than $1.00 and gets you to every where you want to go. The hotel will print out a route map.

Great for the value
Alyce Aug 19, 2007
Yes its a Holiday Inn but really we had a wonderful stay here. The room was small with a double bed that had a firm matress, ... but I was able to get good sleep every night. The location cant be beat if you wanna be in Central/Downtown Mexico City, we were steps from the Zocalo and a metro stop. Many staffers at the hotel spoke English or they got someone who spoke English to help you. They gave to free bottles of water per day in the bathroom so you didnt have to run out for water to brush your teeth at night. If you are looking for a more quiet location though you might wanna check into a different part of the city. In the morning you heard whistles and honking horns, in the afternoon the organ grinders, and in the evening until about 10p the drummers on the Zocalo. We were on the 5th floor though and the noise was very minimal, I didnt even require earplugs.

Small property, very friendly staff. I am a single woman and felt very safe. The room was very recently renovated, fresh, ... clean, delightful. Dining room was very nice, shrimp overcooked. Stayed only one night.
