freindly staff. ckean room & good price compared to other hotels for the same time. micro and fridge in room. very nice pool ... area. I was a little nervous after reading previous reviews but overall not a bad stay. One drqwback is it is at the entrance to the island and it is a very noisy intersection, could hear in the room. Not fancy but a good value. Will need a car as is far from attractions and shopping.

Fantasy Fest for Less
Nomad Nov 1, 2009
I went to Key West for Fantasy Fest 2009. I chose to stay at the Holiday Inn because it was MUCH more affordable than staying ... on/near Duval St. The only drawback to staying further away was that I had to commute to & from the action downtown. However, the amount of money I saved was well worth the short commute. I would recommend the Holiday Inn to anyone visiting Key West. The staff & concierge and very friendly and knowledgeable, the pool is awesome, and the rooms are quiet and comfortable.

rottencrouch Sep 29, 2009
holiday inn was the best deal in Key West on a week-day..extremely handy location...first motel you see when you leave the ... mainland..and roosevelt blvd takes you to the south end or the west end rapidly..the motel was average..not bad, mostly good...a little long in the tooh in the bath, but what the hell.it's a bathroom...not enough electrical outlets...had to unplug the microwave to plug in the fridge, which was missing a leg, but now i'm picking...forget any views..there are none..but the views are in Key West, not in a motel room. The front desk cleark could not have been nicer, and changed our room to smoking, [...]..plenty of free parking.restaurant next door, waffle house within walking distance....and a little convenience store on site.(beer)overall..it's a Holiday Inn and it's a 3 1/2....it's fine...parking will kill you in Key West....$4 bucks an hour..matches the price of a beer...beat the parking fee..go the marker for the southernmost point in the U>S...park on the street free for as long as you want...you have to walk..but you go past Hemingways house, The naval base...and get to soak in the Key West flavor..Whitehead Street will take you to Mallory Square, and then jsut a block over to Duval Street....Restaurants everywhere...pick one..you'll get screwed....just don't go to Pepe's..outrageous, and a dump...we walked out...locals say the And something Lobster house close to Mallory Square is the best place in town.we never made it.enjoy Key West..just take plenty of money, and one full day is enough.

Definitely NOT 4 star
Unsatisfied Key Wester Sep 21, 2009
This trip would have been much better if the hotel was better. Going to the beach, you expect less in a hotel. Well, Orbitz ... rated the hotel as a 4 star, so we thought it may be ok. It turned out that this Holiday Inn was no where near 4 star worthy. The room itself was dirty and old, the carpet has not been replaced in years. There was evidence that each room at the motel style building (doors on outside of building) had all been broken into at one point in time. There was even one such break in while we were there. The staff was somewhat nice, but weren't really interested in anything other than what was going on in their own social lives. Besides being a hotel worthy of a cheap and dirty spring break, there were two saving graces. The pool was nice, a little repair wouldn't hurt. And the place was very quite. Due to the off season time that we chose. Our overall experience was not that great and we definitely do not recommend this hotel. There were others on the island that showed even better and cheaper than the Holiday Inn.

basically good value. due to florida doors stick. pool great. helpful staff but deal was very average for august in key west. ... i would think a better price should be available due to mostly empty motels of all four star all about key west .you, orbitz, should offer the free breakfasts and perks such as tours and free drinks . other places did offer that while we were discussing deals with other couples on boat rides with other visitors.good trip, american airlines slammed us with costs for luggage even though our tickets were so old ( puchased)the baggage should have been included not 15-20 per bag.

The first room they gave was in the back of the hotel, the toilet was leaking and didn't flush. I asked for a new room near ... the pool. This room the a/c leaked and the refrig did not work until we defrosted. Because of the wet rug from the a/c the room had a peculiar odor. I definitely would not recommend this hotel. I sleep as I stay there since I was on business, however it was noisy on the hallways. tHere was no wi-fi connection at the ... room, at least it was not promoted or mentioned, these days is a must for business people. There was one person at the front desk that I might say was not happy to be working today 06/19/090 because of the voice tone and treatment at the phone.

You've got to go to "Fogarty's" at the corner of Duval St and Caroline St. Everything there is delicious: the BBQ ribs, the Thai salad wraps, the burgers, etc. There are a few $5 stores around, everything is $5. So don't be in a hurry to shop when you see the first one. Visit all of them, then decide what to get.
