there aren't too many motels in kayenta. the holiday inn was ok--pretty good bed and tv, good AC. it was pretty ... expensive--the orbitz price was about $149, which was significantly more than they quoted me over the phone when i called later. I then had trouble cancelling the orbitz reservation, which i was told i had to do over the web ( which i couldn't figure out how to do) and which my orbitz confirmation informed me would involve a charge of $25. so this made me a much less enthusiastic orbtiz customer--i doubt i will use it again in the US.

for entry into Monument Valley. Friendly staff, clean room, good AC. The internet was down, owing to some major lightning ... strike the week before (they said the whole town'd been knocked out). Breakfast wasn't free and was only so-so, but, hey, it's the middle of nowhere!

The Holiday Inn is one of the few hotel close to the Monument Valley. The room are quite nice and clean. The restaurant serve ... descent but quite expensive meals (but no alcohol, you're on Navarro land). The is a swimming pool, although it was close for maintenance the day we were there. Overall, the hotel is overpriced for what it offers. If you want to visit the Monument Valley, you may consider staying further away for more affordable hotels.
