Great location and parking

The hotel was spotless from lobby to room. Upon arrival in what was reported to be the "worst storm in 50 years" on 10/13/09 ... we were cold and wet when we approached the reception desk. Wanting to buy dry sneakers, the receptionist wrote out directions for us to find the closest department store. Most people I've encountered would have just spoken the directions, but she wrote them down with street names and all. Our stress level immediately started to drop. All of the coming and going from the hotel was blessed by the free, under-the-building parking garage so we didn't have to get wet running to and from the car anymore. It's a very small garage so by luck, timing or what ever, we got a spot in the enclosed garage every night. If the hotel had been booked we would likely have had to park outside, but that is also free so still a bonus over many Sacramento hotels. Being in West Sacramento (outside the city) provided us peace and quiet as well as a very short ride into downtown Sacramento. Within 5 minutes of leaving our parking spot we were able to be at the Rail Road museum in Old Sacramento (visit the man in the old mail car listening to him relive the days of rail car delivered mail was a very unexpected highlight) the Capitol building, the California Museum and the topper being the Sacramento Zoo. The hotel location is perfect if you want to be close to all the action and attractions, but not among the city noise. The only thing that would have made our room better was if the view was not of the parking lot of a commercial equipment rental store. Not that anything can be done about this fact, it's just a beautiful or even an interesting view would have been the one thing to push my rating to a fifth star.

Nick's Diner was a great, friendly and very reasonably priced place for a full breakfast in case you sleep in and miss the hotel's large breakfast offering. We went to Nick's twice for breakfast and just found the staff charming and the meals very resonably priced.
