It's right downtown where we could walk to all our destinations: State Street amenities and the beach. At $220/night ... Canadian, it is expensive, but the charm, character and location made it enjoyable and I would stay there again.

Good hotel but loud neighbors
Phyllis Apr 26, 2009
This hotel has great location, is clean and well kept. Rooms are nice but little small. They also have a decent little ... breakfast. I deducted a star for noise. The only problem was the noise level of the neighbors. There is a Good Neighbor Policy that was signed by all guests but they obviously did not understand the policy. If we had called the front desk, they would have immediately made the noisy people leave the hotel and make them pay for our stay for the night. I didnt call the front desk because I thought that I would be nice, but think that maybe I should have. Other than that it is a really nice hotel.

We had a fabulous Anniversary dinner at Chase restaurant on State Street (upper end of State) and we walked from the hotel (maybe 6 blooks). Food was fantastic and very romantic atmosphere. Lots of tiny lights, grapes/ivy, and ambiance. There are 2 Starbucks within walking distance-yeah.

Good find with right price range.
James Jun 8, 2008
The Holiday Inn Express met all our needs. It had a large room with 2 queen beds, was newly redecorated and very ... spacious. The bathroom was really updated and well appointed yet kept with the decor and Spanish style of the hotel in general. The complimentary breakfast was a nice treat each morning and very complete from eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, toast coffee juices and cereals and seemed well stocked and maintained. My favorite part was that the location made it easy to walk the main streets of downtown to farmers market, great shopping and the wharf and beach. We had a wonderful stay. If you don't necessarily want a pool or hotel stay with all the extra ammenities, this is a great location to get to everything right off the freeway and in a safe nice neighborhood.

The room of the hotel was ok for the night; the bathing room should be better in comfort. The location is very near the ... city and you can reach most of the necessary restaurants .... with short - minutes walk.

Very good position
Antonio Sep 8, 2007
The hotel is perfectly located, half a block from State Street, still quiet and silent, and few blocks from Santa Barbara ... beach. The room was clean and spacious enough, but that's it. For the money paid, we would have expected some more amenities, and more helpful staff.
Traveler type: Family
Everything is at a short walking distance ... but to get a very pleasant dining on the beach, pick up the car and try the Brown Pelican, on Cliff Drive, just few miles from here.

Nice friendly hotel, would stay again.

I was very pleased with this Holiday Inn. The staff was friendly and made sure we had a room that would best fit our needs. ... The room was clean and nicely decorated. I liked the marble bathroom vanity and terracotta flooring. It made for a unique experience. The hotel is only one block away from State Street which is a huge plus. Once we parked we didn't have to get back in our car until after we checked out of the hotel. There is a $7.00 parking fee but it's worth it to not have to drive around on the one way streets. It was only about a 10-15 minute stroll to the beach and we were able to check all of the unique stores and restaurants along the way. I will definately stay at the hotel again the next time I go to Santa Barbara.

There are alot of unique shops to look in. Tons of places to eat. And if you're into nightlife there are alot of cool bars. The atmosphere was great everywhere I went...very friendly people in Santa Barbara.

The Holiday Inn Express, Santa Barbara, was a very pleasurable experience. Valet parking greets you,no worries about ... downtown parking. They have very pleasant and helpful people working the front desk. The location is convenient to walking State Street with many restaurants and shops. Very close to the Pier and famous Sambos Restaurant. The beds were very comfortable. Large flat screen TV's and the absolute best shower heads. Charming, well restored. Very quiet rooms.

Close to shopping, restuarants and theaters. Great nightlife entertainment.
