Nice Hotel, Very Close to Everything!
cheergymomma Nov 17, 2009
This was our first trip to Sacramento. We were in town for a cheer competition at the Memorial Center and were very happy to ... find that this hotel was very close to everything we could possibly need. We were only 2 blocks from the competition, and several restaurants were very close by and easy walking distance. The room was clean and spacious, and the hotel staff made sure we had the queen size beds we requested. We would stay here again next year.

We needed to eat breakfast very early one day , but the hotel buffet was a good choice (it is free) right downstairs, and opened at 7 am. Also, we found a close place to eat lunch and were in a rush, so we stopped into Hamburger Patties. I almost didn't eat there b/c I am vegetarian, but they had lots of vegetarian choices!

Holiday Inn Express was my choice for accomodation while attending the Far West District Barbershop Harmony Society ... Convention, held just a short walk away ar The Sacramento Auditorium. Great staff, pleasing accomodation, buffet breakfast included, pleasant surroundings, LOTS of great dining choices just steps away~ what more could one ask for?

Also, a beautiful Old World style Irish pub just a few blocks away.

Great location
Martha Aug 13, 2009
The best features of this hotel are its location and breakfast. There is ample to do within walking distance, and the ... breakfast provided several hot and cold options (e.g., scrambled eggs, hardboiled eggs, bacon, gravy, yogurt) that go beyond the standard continental fare. But the lobby smelled musty and the room, particularly the bathroom, was very basic. I had to request soap and shampoo since they were missing from the bathroom, and wound up using the washcloths for handtowels (no handtowels were provided either.) The lack of these items didn't ruin our stay, but the appearance of and amenities in the room were more what I would expect from a Motel 6 than a Holiday Inn Express.

Room was very clean and spacious. Helpful front desk attendant. Good location, although a little too loud at night. Enjoyed ... breakfast. Area seemed safe and also easy access to restaurants. (Except avoid Bistro 33 located a couple of blocks from the hotel. The waiters at the bistro were very rude and unprofessional. We left the bistro and ate at PF chang instead). 1. When we arrived we found that not only did the hotel entrance had a foul moldy smell but also the hallway to our room and ... the inside of the room had the same smell. I had to by room deodorizers so we could get stay. 2.The front desk person was very unfriendly I think because we arrived early. We were allowed to check in but they gave us the wrong room. 3. When we tried to make a local phone call from our room the phone would not work and when we complain the answer we received was "an engineer would get on that". 4. When we went to get ice on our floor the ice machine was broken and we were told by the cleaning staff we would have to go to the third floor. 5. The location was was not the greatest. 6. We will not stay at this hotel again. 7. This is not the first bad hotel I have gotten through Orbitz. 8. And finally( I did complain about this already)when we checked in to the hotel the name that was on the account was Ervin Dixon not Sylvia Harper which means that I did charge this trip on the Ervin Dixon Charge card not mine. 9. When we checked out we we forced to take their contract cab. We did not have an option. The trip to the airport cost $40.00.

Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9:30 am. After that if you don't know the city and you don't have a car it might be difficult to find something to eat. The Clarion hotel next the Holiday in is the only close restaurant. Sandra Dee's 2 blocks away has terrible food

We enjoyed Old Sacramento- it had some neat old fashioned shops and lots of food choices. The location was convenient for us ... since we drove into San Fransico for the day (lots of traffic and people!). The front desk staff were friendly and helpfull with directions. Rooms were clean but since we were right next to the stairs and elevator- it was very noisy.

Very Comfortable Stay
9manties Jun 10, 2009
Complimentary breakfast was great! Room and bathroom were very comfortable and roomy. 4th floor room had a huge window ... looking out into leafy tree branches. There was a loud vibration noise (constant) at our end of the hall room--maybe the building's AC unit? It didn't bother me after getting used to it, but I can see how it might be very annoying to a light sleeper. I'm sure if we had asked they would have switched our room--they didn't seem to be very full.
