We stayed in this particular hotel, because of it's good reviews and word of mouth reviews from our friends. It did not let ... us down. They provided a friendly service of checking us in early (due to an early vacancy) and coffee in the morning. Due to Columbus day, they didn't have a continental breakfast (a little disappointing because we didn't know). The cleanliness of the room was immaculate. We did request a couple of things from housekeeping/guest services that did not arrive but that did not bring out trip down. The room was a nice corner room, perfect for sleeping. We did not use it for anthing but that. We were on the move the entire time we were there. The only negative thing I have to say about this room was the noise. We heard everhting ourtside our door, from people talking amoungst themselves, to doors slamming at 5 a.m. in the morning. All and all our stay was great. Great people, providing a great service, on a great city. Thank you Holiday Inn Express!!!!!!!!!!!

my boyfriend and i stayed at this hotel while in the city to run the NYC marathon. it was a great location as it was close to ... penn station on arrival, close to the pre-race expo, and easy to get to after the end of the race. the hotel let us check our bags on the morning of the race as we checked out so that we could return to pick them up after the run. we had two major complaints: 1.) the race was the day AFTER daylight savings. the hotel never set their clocks back. trying to get rest before a marathon only to be woken up an hour early was not pleasant. we let them know the error immediately and asked for a new wake-up call in an hour. it never came. thankfully they were only a back up. 2.) the race brings so much revenue to nyc, you'd think that for that 1 day they could have had their continental breakfast out a few hours earlier for all the runners... apparently not.

Awesome location, easy walk to times square and subways. Great hot and cold brekky, small but adequate room for 4. (2 ... doubles) unbelievebly friendly staff! Nothing was too much trouble. We recommend the 3 day New York pass, huge savings and baseball tiks on tickethub ( Internet site print tiks in any country.). Orbits helped immensly with our accommodation as we booked 26 nites in different locations all turned out well. Highly recommend this hotel. Will stay here again!!! :)

This hotel was great!! The staff was super friendly...they held our luggage when we got there (until we could check-in) and ... before we left (after we checked out but before our plane left). The breakfast was FREE and GREAT!!! Huge variety. The subway station for the NO. 1 train is located only 1 block away (28th St.) which made everything very convienent! The rooms were a little small but we had no trouble (there were four women). They only have two elevators which made things a little slow during busy times but nothing major. Overall, the breakfast and convience made this hotel a gem!!

Kent and Carol Aug 5, 2009
We were so happy with this hotel, based on the location and the value provided for the cost. Our room was very clean. ... Because we always were at breakfast around 6:30-7AM, we never experienced a big crowd of people until our last day when going down at 8:45AM. Even though our room was across from the elevator, we set our A/C fan to constant, and the "white noise" took care of any hallway/adjacent room noise.

We used the #1 subway train everyday. Located "just around the corner" on the same block. We found the subway very easy to use and very safe. Stayed for 5 days... so we bought a case of bottled water at a nearby store rather than use the $5 per bottle stuff in the room.

Great service, comfy beds, free breakfast -- all nice. My only (big) complaint is that I was awaken at 6am to the sounds of ... the doors to the stairwell slamming repeatedly outside my door. I have no idea what was going on but it certainly left me with a bad taste about the experience. The TV control was also finnicky which caused some frustration. Overall, it was a great value.
