very inexperienced staff, awful service
TED Nov 18, 2009
I have stayed at this hotel every year for the PLMA trade show. I would book at least 4-5 rooms here. But this trip was a ... very awful experience. First, checking in, i had booked three rooms, including a king size room for my boss. The staff plus the supervisor, had told us that no King size rooms were available and were all sold out. We had a little argument as in why we could not receive our king size room, when we have booked it in advance. Supervisor has insisted that they were all sold out. So my boss was upset at this matter. Upon receiving the rooms, one room they have given us was actually a King size room?? Why would the staff and supervisor explain there is no king size room available but they had accidentally given us the room we originally had booked. This incompetence plus inexperience is very bad.I had stayed there for 4 nights, and every time i tried to call the front desk or housekeeping through the room phone, NO ONE WOULD EVER PICK UP THE PHONE!!!!! I WOULD LET IT RING FOR HALF A HOUR AND YET STILL NO ONE WOULD ANSWER . I TRY CALLING IN THE MORNING, AFTERNOON OR AT EARLY NIGHT, NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONE !! One of our rooms did not have wifi access, so i talked to front desk, they have said they do not know , but maybe the entire floor is not working, but my co-worker room right next to me was working fine? This hotel is very INEXPERIENCED ! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR ANYONE.. AND NEXT YEAR WE WILL BE STAYING SOMEWHERE ELSE. THANK YOU HILTON INN EXPRESS FOR THE BAD EXPERIENCE WE HAD STAYING AT YOUR HOTEL.

Parking fees a surprise
Lou Sep 25, 2009
The hotel was very nice, but we were unaware of parking fees, especially having to pay a fee for the night we spent there. We ... knew we would probably have to pay for parking while on our trip, but were very surprised that we had to pay the night we spent at hotel. The price was $14 a night. We ended up having to pay $9 a night.

Lobby was super busy w/ only 1 staff member who tried her best, but the manager decided not to show up to back her up. Staff ... member was untrained and had to call manager for everything. All you could hear was the manager yelling on the phone to the poor girl who was doing all she could to please everyone. At least 15 guest in line all had billing issues.

ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!
JnK Jul 25, 2009
I had planned to arrive late in Chicago the night after my wedding so we would be close to the airport. We had a flight ... leaving O'Hare at 6 a.m. and the hotel personnel had told us they had free 24 hour shuttle service. Unfortunately, we arrived late and were surprised by a sign in the lobby saying the shuttles did not start until 6 a.m. I was further dissatisfied when they would not do anything for us about the situation, except for an unsympathetic "sorry". We paid $115 for the room and it was very unimpressive for the money. I stayed at the Country Inn and Suites the next weekend and was treated well, had good service, and was upgraded to the honeymoon suite for no extra charge. I would not recommend spending the money for this hotel when there are so many better ones around!

Waited in line for a half hour to check in, When i got to the desk (check-in time is 4 pm) AT 5 pm they stated that my 2 ... queen bed room was not available yet please have a seat we will call you when its ready...after another half hour went back up to the check-in desk to be told they would not know when my room would be available..But told me i could have a double bed room without waited forever in the noisy lobby.. So after taking a lower class room with no discount I toke my bored kids to the pool, that stunk like pee..and was very dirty. Complained to the front desk to be told the manager would give me a call in my room, after talking to the very rude manager I got my express check-out under my door to see the managers 11 pm call (waking me up) was charged to my room as a long distance call..Would not recommend this hotel for my dog....

The Holiday Inn Express seemed sketchy at first. On the outside it looks a bit run-down. But inside it looks newly remodeled. ... The pool and fitness center are fantastic. I didn't like paying $16 a night to park. And the staff didn't really clarify how to get in and out of the gates. But overall my experience there wasp pleasant.

We were able to eat dinner at a nice restaurant next door to the hotel. The service there was by far one of the best. The kids enjoyed it and we also had a view of the Chicago O'Hare Airport while dining.
--Rebecca, USA Jun 17, 2007
Since driving around O'Hare can be unpleasant and time-consuming, order in from the restaurant that provides the in-room menu and room service. The menu is quite extensive and should offer something to please most people.
--Patricia, Durham/Raleigh, NC May 15, 2007
The restaurant next door was convienient and the food was delicious. The location of the hotel was on a main street that allowed for quick drive to my business site.
