Charleston is a great walking city. Beautiful old homes. Ballast stone streets. A carriage ride is the perfect way to see the ... city. The guides are very informative and entertaining. There are great resturants, and everyone is very friendly. The hotel offers free shuttle to downtown but the trip from the airport costs around $28. The lobby is small and cozy. The staff was friendly and helpful.

California Dreaming Restaurant. Right on the river, great food, good ambienence. Found it by surprise and finding parking in downtown Charleston at any time but especially at night is nearly impossible unless you are staying downtown. This was a great experience and we shall go back

Young Traveler Oct 20, 2009
The hotel was wonderful and amazingly close to downtown Charleston for the price. The only complaints I had was that the ... restaurant is horrible and the service there is just as mediocre. Please spend your well earned money elsewhere for a meal, (AW Shucks is good). Also the balcony is permanently locked, which was somewhat disappointing for a hotel that boasts such a view. Other than that, I recommend the hotel just don't eat there and don't even think about the balcony.

The staff at this hotel were extremely friendly and helpful, and truly went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The ... free shuttle that runs every two hours into downtown is a convenient money-saver. The bed was very comfortable and well-stocked with a variety of pillows, and the room was decently clean. Other than serving sub-par cheesecake, this hotel perfectly met my needs.

Happily Retired Jun 23, 2009
I was thoroughly pleased with the location of the hotel and the shuttle service every two hours to points of interest. The ... view from the restaurant was worth the stay, although the temperature was rather warm most times. The food was okay if you did not want to go out, but I enjoyed restaurants down on Market and Meeting Streets so much better. Overall, this hotel met our expectations. I would stay here again. Apart from the stain on the carpet in our room, the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.

Don't miss the city market where you can purchase a sweet grass basket. Examine the various items carefully for workmanship and consider buying after talking to the locals. Pride in workmanship and the stories which accompanies the basket will more than account for the cost of the basket.

Good stay for the money
Beach traveler May 26, 2009
The hotel stay was great! The hotel is in a good location if you want to do other things besides just go to downtown. It is ... located right on the highway that is accessible to Folly Beach, Savannah, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, or to Downtown. The room was clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. The service was good. I would recommend if you need to use their business center to print something off of the computer to check the printer first. It did not work the whole time we were there....and they did NOT put anything on the printer stating that it didn't work. The front desk is pretty great though....they ended up printing everything that I needed.

Holiday Inn- Charleston (Riverview)
Lindalee May 15, 2009
The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was good for where I needed to be the ... next morning. Plumbing was a problem. The toilet didn't want to flush, and we had to call for maintenance. They took care of the problem immediately. However, the showers did not drain properly, and we ended up standing in water and waiting for the water to drain before another could shower. That happened in both of the rooms we had, so it wasn't a problem just in one room.

Ceil Dec 4, 2008
The Holiday Inn- Riverview was in a good location if you want to be within about three miles to downtown Charleston. One nice ... feature of the hotel was the complimentary shuttle service they provide to downtown. It leaves every two hours and makes several stops downtown. I was disappointed with the fitness center. There were three pieces of equipment to use, but no weights. The rooms were roomy, carpet was a little worn, but overall it wasn't bad. It had a nice restaurant on the top level, overlooking the river. I didn't eat there, but they did offer a breakfast buffet for a reasonable price.

The Leaning Tower of Holiday Inn. Would have enjoyed a free continental breakfast. Room was clean and in great shape. ... Vending machines annoyed us as they kept eating quarters and refused dollar bills. I was counting on using the free shuttle service but it runs only every 2 hours, and they won't even guarantee that. Staff exhumed southern hospitality. Despite being nestled between 6 lanes of traffic, everything was quite at the hotel. Next time, I'll just bite the bullet and stay in a pricey downtown hotel.

Dennis Jul 6, 2008
The room was barely adequate. No closet and only one suitcase stand--no room for clothes or to place suitcases. Minimum room ... to maneuver around sink, and in bathroom. Toilet ran and difficult to flush. Found bugs in room. Great view from balcony window, however, window was extremely dirty and obstructed view. The hotel shuttle was a nice amenity, however, there were long waits between pick-ups, so wasted time in long run.

The Holiday Inn Riverview sucked! They were doing construction work until 9pm the night my wife and I arrived. We had a busy ... day downtown, and came back to the room, and they were busy pounding nails, making all kinds of racket. My wife and I were very disappointed with our stay. I would not recommend this joint to anyone traveling. The only bright spot was the lounge, we were able to drink at a reasonable price and get drunk so we could ignore the rest of the visit.
