Great hotel that lives up to Hilton standards. However, I didn't appreciate getting a knock on my door at 9:30 in the ... morning. Check out time is 12:00 and I shouldn't have to put a sign on my door asking not to be disturbed. Seems there needs to be more up to date communications with the front desk or check out procedures and the housekeeping staff.

plenty of shopping areas and Savannah is not that far away - a straight ride on Abercorn into the city. This is also a beautiful ride thru some lovely neighborhoods.

Do not eat at the hotel. This Inn is right in the middle of a large shopping/eating activity area. Seeing the food was not good I am told by my husband, try to find something nearby or brave the incredible traffic downtown and eat there. Savannah is truly beautiful, and we plan to return.

The OK and the not so OK
RLRamsey1 Oct 26, 2009
staff was very accomodating...layout of hotel was very lacking...if you had the PRIVILEDGE of FINDING a parking place in the ... back... you had to walk all the way up to the front to go up the elevator so you could ALL THE WAY back down the hall to your room and look out and see you vehicle beside your window...they need 2 elevators...one on each end of the building...VERY POOR design. I would think that it is a city ordinance to have ample parking for a hotel based on # of rooms...we were told that there was a birthday party (each night we stayed there) and that parking would be available after the parties were over...that would have been about 1:00 AM on Saturday. None of the housekeeping staff could speak or understand ENGLISH so it was inpossible to communicate with them...the stock answer was "lobby". I have stayed in 7 different hotels in the last 3 weeks and this was by far the least desirable...mainly because of the parking and elevator situation.

A Beautiful Inn
itskathy42 Oct 24, 2009
The inn was very easy to find and just 3 miles outside of Historic Savannah. The parking was a total nightmare, but ... otherwise the inn was just perfect! Again, I need to state the parking was horrible for the size and locale of the inn. I am partically handicapped at the moment and we could not even find handicapped spots. Also, while I did not eat at the Inn's restaurant, my husband stated the food was overpriced for what you received and definitely nowhere near as good as what he was expecting of such a fine place. The staff was truly excellent, the rooms superb and I wanted to take the bed home in my luggage! Best nights sleep I had in a while. All things considered, price, locale cleaniness, friendliness-we would definitely recommend this Inn to a friend/friends provided something is done about the parking! I realize you are at that location building a Hampton Inn behind the Hilton, but REALLY! It was emmensly inconvienent for myself walking with a brace, and my husband who had to do all the lifting.

We arrived about 12/A.M. How ever to be awaking by a fire alarm which was a false alarm. Yet didn't receive any type of ... discount or anything. We had to park on the street due to remodeling. however they didn't mention anytype of remodeling when I book on line. Beds were very lumpy I requested a king which was more like a queen. Just all around over price for the condition of the rooms.

The hotel is right next door to shopping and only a short drive to all the sights. Only problem we encountered was the room ... we received. We had booked a 1 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds. Received a 1 bedroom suite with a king bed. They were very accommodating about moving us to the type of room we had requested. Parking was a problem as there was construction going on behind the hotel. The conceirge was very helpful with directions, etc.

Hotel was clean and staff was friendly and efficient. We had many opportunities to compliment the staff on their help. Hotel ... was FULL over the weekend and we kept getting shorted on towels, glasses, etc., but after calls to housekeeping any issue was resolved quickly. Pool was closed for cleaning, but we were able to visit a nearby Hilton to use their pool. With a rental car, every place we wanted to go to was minutes away. Parking was frustrating though, as there was a very small parking lot and the hotel was full. Signs threatening towing kept us out of any other local parking lots adjacent to the hotel.

Don't go for chain restaurant eating while in Savannah! Find out where the locals go for fresh seafood. Lots of "touristy" spots have inflated prices. There's no need to eat at the hotel unless you want to for the convenience. Publix across the street and the fridge in your room can make breakfast really easy!

- The staff was not friendly. - For the first time EVER I had a hold put on my account which meant i could not spend $90 due ... to this hold. - Was put in a handicapped room with no tub. - The shower sucked - no water pressure. - The housekeeping maid stole our change that we were saving for the beach parking meter (got it back-she thought it was a tip). - The pool and hottub were very dirty and were closed the last day we were there. - Housekeeping knocking on the door even though DND sign was on the door handle. - At 9AM the day of check out the keycards stopped working.- upstairs vending machine was out of stock the whole time- noisy construction from building a new hotel- no parking due to construction- had to pay for breakfast even though reservation said it was included- microwave didn't work- in room coffee was HORRIBLE!This was absolutely the worst trip I have ever booked and it was the first trip I had ever reserved with Orbitz. I do not believe that I will use Orbitz again and I will NEVER stay in another Hilton. The trip was great aside from the horrible hotel accomodations. The only thing that could have been done to make the hotel better was to cancel that reservation and move to another hotel - and we considerred it.I and my wife were completely dissatisfied with the Orbitz/Hilton experience. Will be writing a seperate letter to Orbitz and The Hilton Garden Inn about this experience.Hope no one else has ever had an experience this bad.Ashley Covington[@]

Nice hotel, but not ORBITZ friendly
TravelingTwo Jul 4, 2009
We were given a room on the second floor and when I asked for one on a higher floor, the clerk said, "Oh you booked through ... Orbita, that's the room you were assigned. The adjustable sleep-system bed didn't work (This was the main reason we chose this hotel), and the TV system was new and being programed, so there were only a few stations. The bathroom grout was moldy. When we asked for a statement at checkout, we were told that we would have to get one from Orbitz. I would recommend this hotel with a strong caution to check the room first!

Easy drive to historic district
MMM Jun 18, 2009
Mother-daughter get-away to see historical sights, eat good food, relax and have fun. Loved the tours of the historical ... homes. The guide at the Andrew Low has was outstanding. Lots of laughs on the Old Savannah Trolley Ghost Tour and visiting the rum cellar at the Pirate House. Outstanding meal at the Old Pink House and dessert at Lulu's on Bay Street. The location of the hotel was great for the price and we drove back and forth to the historical district without getting lost. Enjoyed a musical show at the Savannah Theater and went to the beach on Tybee Island. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were roomy and clean. Good breakfast buffet. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Don't waste your money on the daytime sight seeing tours. Get a map of the tour sights and all of the documentation explaining the sights from the hotel; park downtown and spend the day or a couple of days walking the city finding the attractions yourself. You see much more and spend a great deal less since you have to pay for some of the tour attractions separately from the tour trip anyway.
