Great Location--Loud neighbors!
Brit Git Nov 17, 2009
Our downtown location was convenient and easy to find. Our room was clean and updated. We were on the tenth floor and the ... room overlooked the freeway. We could not hear the traffic noise, but could hear a number of sirens during the night. Another noise issue that we encountered was the noisiness from the room next door. We could hear everything, and being that the couple were going out to the clubs, there was some disturance early in the evening and after midnight. We were surprised that even when they seemed to be speaking in a normal tone, we could almost hear their whole conversation. We had our ten year old with us and sometimes it was uncomfortable. The hotel charged for parking, but we managed to find a spot nearby, and felt that it was safe to leave our car there overnight. When we parked, there were two police officiers on patrol, and the area was well lit. This may not be something we would do agian if we returned to this hotel. Overall, our stay was good, but not better than a stay at a slightly cheaper place like a Holiday Inn Express. When we return to the Austin area, we will probably try another hotel, especially to ensure a quieter night.

Go to "Koriente" restaurant. It's about a block away. It's comfortably priced, great and fresh food, friendly staff. Mostly every restaurant around is overpriced bad pub food or texmex. This place saved my sanity. It's a hybrid Korean food.

Everyone was friendly and very helpful. The accomodations although not overly large, were clean, quiet, and comfortable. The ... hotel location was within walking distance to everything in the downtown area. There was a street art fair just outside our door that stretched several blocks &the college campus was close with all its team spirit. The choice of nearby restaurants was great. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice but pricey
Jmca Sep 20, 2009
Decent location for the convention center. The room service bill had 3 different charges of fees (not including tip) with ... way overpriced food. The high speed internet was more like dial-up. Everything else about the room was nice, lots of towels too. A lot of scuff marks in the hall and doors, not a big issue, but a bit of a turnoff. Everybody was nice and helpful.

Great Austin location
Badger tourist Sep 16, 2009
We were there as tourists, and the location of the hotel was great-close to the music strip and to the U Texas. Pool was ... nice but tiny, and shaded nearly the entire day. Room was fine, fitness center acceptable, not great. Staff was friendly & helpful, except regarding parking options (free street parking is nearby). Perhaps the only odd note was the need to use our room card constantly--to enter AND exit the pool area, to use elevators, etc. Probably necessary with the large population of homeless in Austin, but a tad offputting. All-in-all however, that's a minor complaint.

The hotel room was perfect for us. The location was near to great restaurants and bars. Plus, it was walking distance to ... the stadium for the football game. This hotel was infinitely better then the previous hotel I had stayed at for the game. The only thing I would recommend was better parking options for the weekend.

the hotel was very nice and quiet despite being right there by 6th street. it made it nice bc i was in austin for a concert ... at emos and afterwards i could just walk to the hotel. i will definately stay again next time im down there :) it was very annoying however trying to figure out parking...which costs nearly 30 bucks to park overnight in the garage. i circled the hotel at least 4 times before i saw the small sign for hotel parking area. the pool has nice waterfall but is very very small...and freeeezing cold despite it being 100 degrees outside

Bad Experience
Rick Apr 5, 2009
This hotel is too pricey for what the guest receives versus other hotels in Austin. Also, be aware of one big trap. Neither ... Orbitz nor the hotel advertise the fact that you must pay $27 (after taxes) per nite to park in the hotel garage. They do this, in part, because the location (right in I35 S) is not a good one. If you park across the street or somewhere else, you run the risk of car break ins. They got you and you can do nothing about it. Also, never stay at this Hotel during the first weekend in April due, in part, to the Texas Relays (track event at UT Austin). I think the city also hosts some rapper convention that weekend from what I was told by the locals. In any event, it looks like Harlem at night. I felt like I had a ring side seat to Soul Train. In fact, I couldn't even pull up to the front desk due to all the loitering. I was a little concerned for the safety of me and the family. Fortunately, there were a handful of cops patrolling the area. The front desk was not accommodating at all. It was either accept the situation or go somewhere else. For what I had to pay (including extra for valet), I'll go somewhere else next time. RS

The hotel was convinetly located to 6th street activities. We could walk easily. Their sleep system beds are wonderful. The ... staff was friendly and efficient. Was disapointed that because we booked through orbitz they could not credit our Hilton Honors account other than the cost of parking which we paid during the visit. Good resturant with a view of the city.

We enjoyed the very clean comfortable room, but it was a bit cramped. The TV was touted in the hotel literature as HD, but ... the picture was very fuzzy. The small pool was not even worth the trouble. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The parking was a bit overpriced for the area at $25 a day. Overall, pleasant but better values in the same area.
