I enjoyed my stay there. If not for the Highway construction it would have been a perfect stay. The weather did not allow me ... to enjoy their large pool during my stay that is the one drawback I had. When checking in, I asked the about the availability of WiFi, the Desk Clerk immediately offered me a room closer to the reception area where the signal was good.

Quiet, Clean, and Cozy.

Doug Oct 19, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Check in was no problem and the room was prepared neatly, AC was on thankfully for it was a humid and hot San Antonio night. ... Really liked the separate living room with it's own TV and writing desk and coffee table overall double bedroom is spacious. Complimentary breakfast was basic cereal, fruit, juice and cofee. I was able to get internet access from my room but the signal isn't strong you need to be nearer to the pool for a full signal. Never tried the pool but looked very clean. Minor issue is the construction being done on highway 410. You must go to downtown San Antonio it's really beautiful, the River Walk, The Alamo. Will surely be going back to Hill Country Inn and Suites.

Perfect hideaway right in the city

Grampa Sep 26, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This place is a treasure. We stayed here about 18 months ago and liked it so much we made a point of coming back. They've ... done some renovation and now it's even better. Clean, cabin-like suites, surprising sense of privacy and being "away from it all" and close to nature, even though it's right on I-410. Access is a bit of a hassle right now because of highway construction, but definitely worth it. Minor drawback: they only have wireless internet in the common areas.

Will not reccommend

Gina Sep 23, 2009

The hotel has a cute cabin look and the staff is very courteous. Our room was spacious. Everything would have been great, ... but the room was not clean, the bathroom smelled of urine. I really did feel like I was camping. We were only there for one night so we decided to stay because of our late arrival. They did clean the bathroom. When we pulled back the sheets to go to bed we were greeted by stained box springs. It was too late at night to change rooms...never again!

Great Family Spot

Missy Aug 31, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

The staff was friendly and extremely helpful from check-in to check-out. The room was large and nicely appointed but not ... extravagant. The rustic flair to the rooms was a hit with out kids because it reminded them of cabins we've rented on vacations. We were not expecting the small sitting room and second TV which was a very pleasant surprise and allowed the kids to watch cartoons and my husband and me to watch the news. The pool is large, well lit and beautifully landscaped. The continental breakfast was ample and ready to go early which was a great help to us. Although we weren't there for the activities during the week, the hotel has ice cream socials and the like during the week...something our kids made us promise to bring them back for. The location, while somewhat difficult to access, is good. While not next door, it is not far from downtown, Sea World and other local hot spots. The hotel is undergoing renovations. We were not in a renovated room, but it was still nice. I wish that the beds had been a little softer; but for the price (thanks Orbitz!), it is the perfect choice for families on a budget traveling with children. We look forward to going back for Spring Break next year.

Great non-franchise family getaway

imcdbw Aug 16, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We really enjoyed the comfortable, homey style. Great pool! Absolutely terrific staff. We were close to where we wanted to ... be with easy access. Non pretentious, but quite comfortable with microwave and fridge and two TVs. However, we were unable to partake of the free breakfasts due to the crowd of people; but we probably could have timed ourselves better for that. There were lots of kids, but their parents were kindly considerate of other guests, which we really appreciated. We would certainly consider staying again in the future.

The absolutely best TexMex restaurant in the entire state is on Redman Rd, just off 1604. It's called La Hacienda de los Barrios. The food is marvelous. The original Los Barrios is downtown on Blanco street and is also wonderful. The owner, Diana Trevino, won a throwdown with Bobby Flay from The Food Channel. She won and, oh man, her food is the best!

great bargain price offered by Orbitz

Nana & Grandpa Aug 13, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We traveled to San Antonio to visit with our three granddaughters. We choose Hill Country Inn & Suites because of in-town ... location, 2 Bdrm/2 bath villa, playground, and pool. the villa was roomy, clean, and well furnished. Kitchen was well equipped but could have used some additional utensils, pots, pans, and baking sheet. the pools and playground are great. nice large attached cabana with picnic tables and BBQ where we hosted a family luau B'Day party. The bad news is they try to hit you hard for a timeshare presentation. Since it is convenient for future family visits, we were actually interested in attending the presentation. However, they couldn't schedule one to coincide with our stay but that didn't stop them from continuing to contact us and call our villa asking us to change our plans and schedule to attend a presentation. They also wanted a $20 deposit to hold a presentation appointment. We finally told them to get lost. In conclusion, their Orbitz great rates are a come-on to attend a timeshare presentation which isn't an unusual come-on. While it isn't a four or five star resort, the villa was still a great value and we had a great stay.

The location was perfect for us because it was close to SeaWorld, the zoo, and not too far of a drive to the Safari. Also close to food, grocery stores and the mall.

We picked up food at the Weinerschitzel and at Quizno's and took it back to the hotel. We also ordered pizza. It was simple and easy and not to heavy after a long day of sight seeing, except for the pizza...
