Heathrow Marriot was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed at. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Parking was ... great and cost effective!

Dingy and disappointing

I expected more. The images on the website gave the impression of beautiful vistas of the river. They must have had a ... powerful zoom lens. The location was pretty central and within walking distance to most local attractions, but my overall impression may have been colored somewhat by my general disappointment in Lisbon. The city needs a good scrubbing and a coat of paint. It could be beautiful, but is pretty gritty.

Bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes. The city is pretty hilly, but the views from the top of the Castle of Sao Jorge and the monastery are worth the effort. Lisbon is beautiful if you don't look too closely. The views from a distance are their best asset. Take a day to visit the more northern coastline cities of Cabo do Roca, Caix Caiax, and Estoril. We took a bus tour that occupied our entire afternoon. In retrospect, I wish we had spent a few days in Caix Caiax or Estoril and spent one day visiting Lisbon, instead of the other way around.

The only drawback from this experience is they charge you if you removed any items from the frigerator, which was odd since ... we tried to empty space to put a child's milk in, but got chareged for removing the item. Talked to front desk about it, and they said they will take care of it.

Godd Hotel, Hard to Find
James Jul 26, 2008
The Marriott Windsor Heathrow is a quality hotel. The rooms are comfortable and air conditioned, and the hotel staff are ... friendly. However, I would not recommend it unless you are staying for only one night to be close to the airport. One downside is the hotel was a bit hard to find. Our London cabbie, after roaming around, had to stop at the Mariott Heathrow for directions. Also, you are not within waliking distance of shops, etc. and there is no shop in the hotel.
