This hotel has an excellent location back away from the freeway, so its quiet. The rooms are extremely spacious for the ... price, and the place is kept clean. The place is very old and basic though, and if you want to be pampered this is not for you. It is a good value for the money though if you need a comfy place to stay. They have good hot breakfast. Didn't use the pool but it didn't look like much from what I saw. The gym is a joke, two machines were broken, and the two available felt like they would break any minute. They have coin laundry which I thought was cool. Overall a great basic place for a longer, comfortable, economic stay. Freeway access is easy, and location is central to all of San Diego

I come to San Diego for business 2-4 times per month and have finally found a hotel for under $100 on weekdays that is clean, ... comfortable, includes a furnished kitchen, and a huge living room in addition to the bedroom. I've stayed at several hotels in this price range and have been dissapointed by damp, dirty rooms and an average overall stay. This hotel will be where I stay from now on!!!! The breakfast is really good too!!! There is a room service menu and a pizza delivery menu in the room.

I was travelling for one overnight. I thought a simple hotel was enough. The rooms were spacious and clean; the elevator had ... the smell of disinfectant. The entry to the rooms are from the outside and there were a few smokers outside of their rooms. The kitchens are well stocked with new and clean equipment. Simple maintenance seems to have been forgotten.

My Wife and I are used to staying in smaller hotels that are just a bed and a bathroom. When I walked into this room I was ... stunned. The room was incredibly spacious with a small dining area and a bar area next to the full kitchen. We had a sofa bed and a captains chair in the living room with a flat screen television and a coffee table for our drinks. The bed was really comfortable with a pillowtop mattress and plenty of sheets and a comforter. We visit San Diego at least twice a year and my wife and I have decided this hotel is our first choice. The location is central being only 5-15 mins from Old town and Downtown. The Metro-train station is only a mile away also. Loved it here.

The Hawthorne suites was very good for families and had a good breakfast that came with the room. The room was large and had ... a everything you needed in its kitchen. The sofa bed was the only real downfall of the room. The location was great it was very close to sea world san diego and the san diego zoo and the downtown area. Overall we were really satisfied and would return.

This was very good value for the San Diego area. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable bed, nice kitchen. The hot ... breakfast was a real plus and the location was in the middle of many of the things we wanted to go to and see. It sits back from the road a bit so it's quiet and peaceful. The flowers on the back hill were gorgeous! It is not a luxury resort, but was completely adequate, clean and friendly.
