If you want a view of Lake Tahoe, ask for a room on the 9th floor or higher. We asked to change rooms and were moved to ... 9th. Their top floor restaurant was closed on the nights we were there, but you can stay indoors and walk to Harrah's which has great food and view but plan to spend some money. The Bleu Wave boat tour for $50 was great, includes transportation to/from hotel, lunch and a couple of drinks. Take a car ride around the lake and see all the scenic overviews. Watch Kokanee salmon spawn at Taylor creek. Overall a great trip.

Nice Enough
Patrick Oct 15, 2009
Rooms are nice and the hotel is in a great location. We've stayed here before and enjoyed free WiFi. Now they charge ... 11.95/day, when all the hotels nearby advertise that it's free. Some of the onsite restaurants you would expect to be pricey, like the Steakhouse and the restaurant on the top floor with a view of the lake. The cafe that is underground in the basement, however, you would not expect to pay $30 for a breakfast for two.

Our california and nevada tour by car taking 18days was seriously jolted by our booked 2night stay at harveys..we love ... america, its friendliness and character...what is a huge unsightly building doing on the edge of a beautiful lake?similar comments would be made about Harrahs next door...we love casino environment in las vegas even carson city but not here..staff seemed aggressive and generally unhappy and unhelpful...we requested king sized bed for 2quiet nights but there was not one...the restaurants inside were uninviting many had no prices outside..in the room there was no coffee machine safe fridge or hbo.. .distance to the car was daunting...trying to get out of the hotel needed a map...once outside we walked around lovely little shops... we wished we had stayed at any of the many beautiful cared for motels...great meal at applebees 1/4 mile from the hotel...we will return to south lake tahoe and stay in a motel and support the local community..

Tiana "the wife" Sep 21, 2009
I just recently got married in Lake Tahoe at the Edgewood and Harvey's was a hop, skip, and a jump away! Harvey's has the ... best location and views of the lake and the mountains, it's connected underground to Harrah's-also a beautiful hotel/location as well! It is smack dab in the middle of everything, the lake, the mountains, gondola, SHOPPING! No need to drive anywhere, everything is within walking distance! My only negative about the hotel was that the newly updated rooms had terrible views, we wanted a room with a view so we settled for the older style room, not a bad or ugly room just not updated like the others. When we checked in there were no suites available that were updated either. All in all I would totally recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family and would definitely stay there again!

We ate breakfast at Cabo Wabo in Harvey's. The food was good but expensive. Of course, eating in a luxury hotel this is to be expected. After all, we were on vacation and celebrating our anniversary and didn't expect to eat reasonably. So, GO FOR IT and ENJOY!!!!!!!

Take one of the mid day cruises on the lake offered. We did the Tahoe Rose west shore excursion, they sent a bus to the hotel to pick us up and the cruise was on a fantastic older Yacht. They served up an excellent lunch and we got to see most of the beautiful sites on the west shore on the trip. The Thunderbird lodge trip is another excellent choice of the cruise, eat and see the site's via boat that is offered.

Did one short trail hike before check-in. BEAUTIFUL area. Took suset cruise on Safari Rose. Love it. Went whitewater rafting at Coloma, Ca on way back to San Francisco. Adventure California was the rafting company. Good time. Guide was great. Water was fun, but not too exciting due to the season and us choosing to do the Class III section due to our timing.
