Good room to stay in to get around the town. I really enjoyed walking to the Bellagio's water show. The people on the ... sidewalks at night passing out girly information was a drawback, but never felt unsafe. Caesar's Palace right across the street, great statues and gambling. The Monorail is right outside of Harrah's, fun to travel to many casinos till 2 AM.

Go to the El Cortez downtown and eat at The Flame. I've eaten there 4 times and never had a better steak. Order their side dishes: mac and cheese, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. The bread basket alone is worth going for. They have the best walnut, raisin bread and others.

Great show by Mac King, comedian and magician, in the hotel. Location is perfect - close to the Fashion Show Mall, the ... Palazzo shops, the Forum shops, and the Venetian shops. Easy access to the Monorail, The Mirage, Caesar's Palace, and the Wynn. Hotel itself is average. Our room was clean and well kept by housekeeping. Very disappointing pool. There were no clean towels. Dirty towels, empty cups and trash were all around the pool. There was no staff at poolside. None of the pool bars were open. Many of the cabanas were dirty. One hot tub had no timer or working jets; the other worked minimally.

Been to Vegas many times and have stayed at all the major hotels on the strip. This was the first time at Harrah's. ... Location is great, right in the middle of the strip so everything is within a reasonable walking distance. Hotel itself is ok - decent value for rooms under $100/night, but it is a very dated property relative to the other resorts on the strip.

I like staying at Harrah's but we had a very difficult time with check in. We checked in at 10:30 in the evening and were ... told that our room was not ready yet that we would have to wait a couple hours for a non smoking room. I find it interesting that they charge you if you are not out of the room by 11am yet at 10:30 the room is still not ready. I am very sensitive to smoke so in order to get into a room, we had to upgrade for an additional cost of $56 per night. The clerk kept referring to us as "[...] prepays" the term was very derogatory. The remainder of our trip was fine - your basic Vegas casino but we like the place for its location. The bars do not charge a cover charge which is nice and all wait staff are very friendly.

Hardworking RN and machinist Oct 21, 2009
Harrah's is in a great place on the strip. About halfway in between. The monorail stops there. Just outside the hotel ... there is McDonalds, Chipotle, a pizza place, a Denny's and a Panda Express. There is a crosswalk in front of the Harrah's that goes to the Ceasar's Mall. The Bellagio fountain is a walk down the strip, the opposite way is the Mirage and Venetian. We stayed at the MGM and the Venetian before. The hotel rooms were much bigger and better appointed, however more expensive. It depends on why you are going. The Harrah's is a great location and close to so many things. If you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room, you should consider a more expensive hotel. We went to the improv on Saturday night. That was the hardest we have laughed in months!!! Great show!! Also splurged and saw Donny and Marie---What showmanship! They were great, full of energy, genuine and really personable. They included lots of audience participation in the show. If you can get the prime seats and are/have been a fan of either of them, buy them. Even my husband enjoyed the show. If I have the opportunity to go again, I definately will.

Use the coupon book. It has $ off coupons for the buffets, one in each of the "companion" hotels. The buffets have a great variety of foods, and you see the other hotels. There are 2 for 1 coupons for shows, too. They are a great bargain. It makes the dollar go farther and who doesn't need that? The carnival side of the hotel is romping until at least 1am...so if you want/need to go to bed earlier, ask for a room on the other side of the hotel.

We really only spent time in our room at Harrah's as we are not gamblers and seek outdoor dining which is available at other ... hotels but not Harrah's. The room was a good value [...]We toured numerous Casinos and found that the more expensive reosrts had less smoky casinos for some reason. Harrah's location was central on the strip and that worked well for us since we enjoyed other destinations in close proximity to Harrah's both to the North and South.

Front staff upon arrival didn't seem very welcoming. When calling to advise of our broken shower head I was transfered ... around several times and ended up at the front desk speaking to a rude woman. The manager on duty was a professional young man and the security guard that came to our room to look at our broken shower head that landed on my husband's foot was very professional. We did a late check out the next morning and the front desk woman was very unsocial and not welcoming at all. I was very displeased with our stay and would not chose to stay there again. Our bathroom wall had toothpaste splatter all over it. I was happy my husband didn't get more hurt than he was with the shower head falling on his foot. Our stay was uneasy and I felt inconvienced to have to change rooms in the middle of our stay. Also, not having a coffee pot in the room was displeasing.

The biggest reasons to stay at Harrah's are the location and my favorite place, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill. Due ... to the location, we were able to walk to the Flamingo to see Donny and Marie, take the Monorail to Mandalay Bay for dinner at Aureole, take the monorail to the Sahara and then walk to Fremont Street! My husband took the Big Dog Daddy challenge at Harrah's and YES, he did eat the 32 oz. burger! The overhead light just inside our room door was burned out but we just left a lamp on when we were out at night. Also, the safe in our room did not work but we made do. Due to the price of food on the strip, I wish our room would have had a refrigerator. Whenever we have one in our room, we don't use it. When we don't, we wish we did! Murphy's Law. Our room seemed a little noiser than it was the last time I stayed there but I think that was due to the proximity of our room to the pool. We were on the 4th floor and I think some of the early morning noise was from maintenance workers outside. Overall, we will definitely stay there again. The people were friendly, the hotel was clean and is big enough without being too enormous and of course, location, location, location!

It was a short walk either way to catch a bus to Downtown. They have the old time food specials that you can really get into. However, if you walk into the Harris's they have all their specials listed on bill boards. The 5.99 steak and egg special between 12am and 7am is the greatest. 2pm to 7pm was steak and shrimp and that was terrific too! A very friendly staff and I also enjoyed playing Keno while we ate..They had runners so that you did not have to get up and play.

When I checked in I got a bunch of coupons. most were for stuff I was not interested in. But one was for $5.00 off the Emperor's buffet in the casino next to them, Imperial Palace. The two are connected so I went over one day after I got back from a mountain biking tour of Red Rock Canyon. I was starving. But when I got there it was closed from 2PM - 4PM while they switched to the dinner offerings. I was hungry NOW so I never got to use my coupon. I went back over to Harrah's buffet instead. If you're into shows and dining, check websites before you leave on your trip for promo codes and book before you go. If you want to chance it and wait until you get there a good resource is a place called Tix4Tonight. They have locations all across Vegas (one opening soon in Casino Royale next to Harrah's) and they have half-priced tickets and dining for same day shows that are not sold out. For example, I paid $50 (with a coupon) for the Titanic Exhibit. If I used Tix4Tonight, I could've gotten admission for $25 for that same day, same time, etc. They have all the headliners and small shows, too. Check them out.
