Great weekend getaway
LApilot Oct 5, 2009
Our first impression as we drove up was 'wow, great location'. Our second impression was the nice receptionist who was funny, ... thorough and professional. Once we got to the room we were impressed by its cleanliness, view, and were generally positively surprised at the good quality. Every contact with staff was pleasant, professional and helpful. There were lots of couples there, it was very romantic. We couldn't get the jacuzzi to work so that was kinda awkward, like sitting in a warm bath. Apart from that, great trip.

Although we didn't opt for a room with a full or partial harbor view, the view of the Santa Ynez Mountains from our room and ... deck was spectacular. The location is wonderful, the room spacious and comfortable, and the staff friendly. Can't report on the pool or fitness center as we didn't visit either. Would I come here again for a weekend away, absolutely!!

We had two dinner evenings and very much enjoyed Emilio's, a short walk up the street, and Louie's, which is in the Upham B&B a short drive away.

Very Beautiful and Comfortable
Jenny Nov 23, 2008
This is by far my favorite hotel in Santa Barbara. The service is impeccable and the surroundings are gorgeous! It is ... located right across the street from Stearns Warf and at the bottom of State St. so it is a great location. My family loves the pool because it is right across the street from the beach. I stayed in an ocean view room and it was so large and comforable. It had a balcony which overlooked the pool and the beach. The gardens are fabulous and the added bonus of room service seals the deal. I love It!

The shopping in Santa Barbara is great. The Harbor View Inn is located at the bottom of State St. which has fabulous shopping! It has every store imaginable. It is either a long walk uptown or a short drive. There is public parking everywhere in Santa Barbara so parking is a breeze!

Comfortable hotel right on the beach
Cecily Jun 8, 2008
The hotel had a great location and was right across from the beach. The hotel has a pool and hot tub and the room had a ... balcony but it looked right out onto the pool and the rooms next door were very close. We left our balcony door open for air and could hear every word our neighbors were saying on their balcony. The hotel's restaurant was good for breakfast and the coffee shop offered good coffee and snacks.

Stateside Restaurant was wonderful. Not too pricey and great food. The Intermezzo Wine Bar had good wine and great food but was a little pricey.

Weekend Getaway
Alexander J. Guza May 7, 2008
From the first moment we arrived at the hotel we were very impressed with the grounds, location, and over all beauty. The ... rooms were more than what we expected for our money. We felt as though we were in a facility twice the price. The closeness to the beach and many other points of interest was great. Should we vist the area again we will stay in this hotel for sure.

We were very pleased with a most excellent vegetarian restaurant. The name of it is Sojourner at 134 East Canon Perdido, Santa Barbara. The main shopping area is located on State Street which is just around the corner from the hotel. Also the harbor, the pier, and the very long clean beach is great. If you go there you will surely enjoy yourself.

Relaxing Experience and Beautiful Location
Thomas May 3, 2008
I stayed in the new section of the Harbor View Inn. The room was very nicely modeled with lots of room, and lots of tile in ... the bathroom. There was a large shower, large deep bathtub, and expansive counter/sink area. The room also had flat screen television and minibar. Two sliding glass door sections provided access to two outdoor balcony areas with wonderful views of the ocean. The carpeting, wall paint schemes, and black out drapes were nicely coordinated. There were large sitting areas in the rooms and hallways outside the rooms. The pool area was large and nicely maintained. In fact all of the grounds were nicely maintained. All of the staff were very pleasant to interact with during our stay.
Traveler type: Couples
There are several nice seafood restaurants on the pier across from the hotel. There are also a number of nice restaurants along the frontage road adjacent to the beach areas. You are also close to downtown Santa Barbara where mall and shopping opportunities are plentiful. There are a myriad of dining choices available as well.

Good Location

We had an ocean view room. he hotel is separated from the beach by a road, which is too bad, but most hotels in the area are. ... We loved the private balcony and access to the pool. The pool area and hot tub are nice. The grounds as nice and clean, well-maintained. Updated decor. A little small, but comfortable. The hotel staff was always very helpful. They even gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary. The hotel is walking distance to the beach, Stearn's Wharf and many restaurants. We had a nice stay. I would stay there again.

Great hotel right by the beach
Minta Feb 28, 2008
My husband and I stayed in the Harbor View Inn for 2 nights and loved it. We had an ocean view room (in the older building) ... and the view was gorgeous. We were off the street, and had the pool in front of us, so no street noise. And the rooms were huge! Perfect for our little getaway. I had asked for the newer building since I read reviews that its really nice but they didn't have any ocean view rooms left in there. But it turned out just fine. Our room was really nice. Only comment would be that we had breakfast in our room both mornings and it was pretty pricey, but that's pretty typical for nice hotels. Overall, great experience and I would highly recommend staying here.

We did not need a car. We came to Santa Barbara by train. The Station was a short walk to the hotel. The property is by the sea so we were very close to the beach and the boardwalk. We found in very easy to get to the shops, and the restaurants on State Street just by hoping on and off the troley.
