When we were checking in the desk person was very busy, but with all that, she managed to get us an unsmoking room that I ... requested. When she asked me if I wanted a smoking room I told her no and she was very pleasant and made sure she found me one. I was very impressed that she noticed that I requested it online to be non smoking. I had been flying from Oklahoma to Houston to see my son who graduated from Boot camp it was nice to have a beautiful clean room with a beautiful view of the strip. I stayed last year for New Years and it was great then too. The price was great [...].

Will stay again
RMOTHERHUBBARD Nov 6, 2009
We typically stay on the strip when visiting Las Vegas. We usually stay at Mandalay Bay. However, with my husband and ... myself having a reduction in pay we needed to cut back on expenses. I would definately stay at the Hampton again. And will recommend friends and relatives to stay at the Hampton Inn Tropicana. The rooms were nice and clean. The beds were also comfortable. It was nice to walk in the door and go right to the elevator to your room. The staff was very friendly and gave us great tips of dining out when in Las Vegas. The complimentary breakfast buffet was okay. It would have been nice to have waffle machine like Country Inn/Suites. We only used the shuttle service once to the strip. The location was good. It was only about 1/4 mile walk on a sidewalk to and from the strip.

Great Stay Not Far Off of the Strip
Piper Jim Oct 20, 2009
The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned everyday regardless of the time ... that I left the room. The continental breakfast was a typical continental breakfast, nothing overstated and enough to get you going in a hurry. But I would avoid the omlette next time. You can easily walk to the strip from the hotel if you choose, and you don't mind walking. The location isn't exactly the greatest esthetically, only because redevelopment hasn't quite caught up with that area of the city. But as far as navigating around the city with someone who knows the area, it was just fine. I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely stay there again the next time I go to Las Vegas.

Hotel was conveniently located close to the strip and easy access on and off the highway. Continental breakfast was very ... good and nice not to have to go out to eat. We enjoyed that the hotel was much quieter than other hotels we had stayed at on the strip. We would definitely stay there again next time we are in Las Vegas.

Excellent value and location
Bali99 Sep 10, 2009
There was a mix up in our reservations. We arrived for late check in on Fri night of Labor Day weekend. There were no rooms ... available, but somehow the kind hotel clerk fixed it and we were set. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great. They have a free shuttle to the Strip and airport (but no pick up from the Strip) This wasn't a problem as we easily walked from the MGM back to the Hampton. One very nice and simple touch was a large dispenser of lemoned ice water in the lobby, especially inviting after a walk from the Strip!! The complimentary breakfast was very good.....I liked the "build your own sausage sandwich" and the fresh grapefruit. The beds and bedding were top notch. There was a business center with free internet that was helpful. I also liked reading about the Hampton Landmark preservation program. It made me feel like this wasn't just a company interested in profit, but also in giving back to the community. KUDOS!!

The trip to Las Vegas was good, but it was so hot out there. The hotel was okay, but I thought it needed updating. The rate ... was pretty good, and I liked having a shuttle bus to the airport. The thing I didn't like about Las Vegas was everything was so expensive, food, shows, shopping, etc.

As listed in what I didn't like above. Being used to receiving complimentary drinks when gambling in the casinos, patrons ... should be advised that drinks are not comp when playing the slots at the bar in hotel.
