We went to Flagstaff to enjoy the weekend and get out of the heat. I wish someone told me about the train track that runs ... about 100 yards behind the hotel, we had a 2 year old son who couldn't sleep through the night because the tracks were very active, about every 30 minutes you would wake up to a blowing whistle from the train. The hotel was well maintained and very relaxing other than that.

poor service
Bill Aug 22, 2009
The room was typical, but the elevator reeked of chlorine from the pool area. The in-house restraunt was completely ... dysfunctional, I ended up getting my "meal" for free since I only got two of 8 items in the order, after a 20 minute wait for it to be resolved. Restraunt across the street was an excellent choice the next morning, great food and service.

The girl working at the desk when we arrived was talking on her cell phone while mopping the floor. Seemed like she was ... inconvienenced when I came in. She didnt require any id and just gave me my key, she didnt offer directions to the room, and I had to request. She again appeared inconvienenced. We had spent the day hiking in Sedona and were on our way to the Grand Canyon, so I had chosen this hotel specifically for the indoor heated pool/jacuzzi/sauna. None of which worked.

Our room was dirty, stained, and the toilet didn't flush. This was supposed to be a non-smoking room and the room reaked of ... cigarettes. The trains constantly coming through made it impossible to sleep too. I would not recommend this hotel to any family wanting an enjoyable experience.

clean rooms, friendly staff, nice pool, nice game room, sauna!, only problems: most hotels are too close to the train so ... bring ear plugs :), kids making to much noise at the pool and staff too friendly didn't say anything! overall good trade for your money!

Good except for the smoke in non-smoking
Lstorm Jun 18, 2009
The price right now is great! Though parts of the hotel were kind of run down, it was all very clean (especially our room. . ... . the bathroom, for instance, was spotless!) The only part of the hotel that was rather dirty was the lounge chairs in the pool area - they were filthy. The pools themselves were very nice, and clean . . . there were definitely chemicals in them, so they were clean! Some other positive things are the microwave and fridge in every room. . . these were also very clean in our room. The room was spacious. The view was interesting. We could see Snowbowl mountain, but right next to the hotel is a junk yard. . . so if you looked beyond the junkyard, it was fine. I like train whistles so no problem there, either. My biggest complaint is that we requested a NON-SMOKING room. If you want one of these, make sure you call ahead and make sure they can give you a Non-smoking room in one of the Non-Smoking Wings (on the east side). They gave us a non-smoking room right next to a whole block of smoking rooms, and the "weather stripping" around the door is not good. The whole hallway reeked of heavy smoke, and it came under our room's door, too. Also, and this makes now sense. . . our room had a locked center door that led to the smoking room suite next door. . . so they could be opened up to each other should people who know each other stay in the rooms. Does that make ANY sense whatsoever?? That center door absolutely reeked of smoke deep in the wood. . . I had to stuff paper towels around the door to block any new smoke from coming through. IF we stay there again, I will be very certain to request a TRULY non-smoking room. I don't want other peoples' nasty second-hand smoke. I am allergic to smoke as well, and like to have a pleasant, breathing vacation. The room was otherwise very nice. One last thing. . . the first night we were there, the cable went out. Later they said it was fixed, but still, about 3/4's of the channels were completely missing, and the rest of the channels were not on the numbers that they were supposed to be. We kept reporting it, and the front desk clerk kept telling us it was all fixed, and he didn't believe us when we said it wasn't. We would consider staying there again, but with certain conditions. . . particularly concerning the non-smoking rooms.

good hotel for the price
maikim May 26, 2009
The hotel was right off the freeway. The rooms were clean and had a fridge and microwave. The pool and hot tub were in good ... working order, but a little small. The drive to the grand canyon was a little long at 1 to 2 hours, but the scenery was nice. You may end up waiting for a train on your way to grand canyon since you have to cross the tracks.

The Cafe in the hotel has the best breakfast in town! Only $3.95 for a bacon, sausage, pancakes, hashbrowns and eggs breakfast! Downtown Flagstaff is on Route 66 and has a plentiful night-life scene and is a very short drive or taxi cab ride from the hotel.
