Our anniversary was ruined

Ontario Mom Nov 17, 2009

This was our anniversary trip, we get 1 night a year away from the children and we were hoping for a nice relaxing time. When ... we got to our hotel they didn't have the room we had booked and gotten a conformation for, they did not even try to give us what we had paid for. We had to insist on a room with a king bed and free parking. They said it was not their fault they said [...] had given them the wrong info. They would not give us the difference of the cost of our rooms and having paid for one of the best and getting second to worst there is a difference. The room was clean but the glasses were dirty, the toilet ran all night, the T.V. was very small and didn't work right and our room was very hot and the A/C didn't work. The view we had paid for was " river view" well all we got was casino/parking lot view. We had paid for the hot tub in suite and we got a small tub with water that was barely warm. Also there was no working ice machine on our floor we had to go up 1 and the vending machine was broken so the water was very hot not cold. We will not be staying at this hotel ever again and I do not think we will ever book with [...] again.

Great stay

Dan The Man Nov 2, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

For the price, it was great. It is located across the street from the casino and is within a block or two of other ... resturants. We paid 86 US for a saturday night stay. The only beef it you'd call it a beef is that it is $20 per night for valet parking and to let others know, there are many more taxes in Canada so expect $100 tab to come out to $120ish...Hotel was clean and centrally located.

"River View"? You mean Casino view.

Romantic Getaway Girl Oct 25, 2009

Our "river view" could only be found by peering around a huge casino located directly in front of the hotel. The room itself ... was very nice, but we expected to be able to see some water (we knew it would not be a falls view). I was not expecting to have the red lights from the Casino shine in our room all night. Also, there are no curtains, just shears but there is a jacuzzi in the room... that is weird and not to mention that this made sleeping with the casino lights more difficult. We only stayed one night.

Don't eat at the T.G.I. Fridays down the street, the food was not fresh and it cost 2-3 times more than it would have in the states. My salad, although cold, was browning and the 1/2 rack of ribs was rubbery. My husband ate soggy fajitas. We eat at Fridays locally from time to time and the food is better for 1/3 of the price... bottom line - don't waste your money. You can get a fantastic meal at the Keg steakhouse for the same price with an excellent view of the falls.

Parking Garage View Hotel

Business Traveler Oct 2, 2009

Don't let the name fool you. There is a very large parking garage and casino high rise between your view and the falls. Hotel ... is currently under major construction and I was awaken by jack hammers at 8:00 am sharp each day. They charge for every little detail like $6 bottle of water $15 if you remove the brochure of the area from your room. $15.99 for a $3 breakfast at Ihop on the second floor. $20 per day parking and it's the only choice. For your convenience they place four video game tokens on the desk in your room if you should use them or lose one they will cost you a $1 each. Only very basic channels on the TV unless you want to pay a lot to watch something. The only thing included in your stay is ice and the air you breathe until they figure they can charge for that.

Could be better

Traveler Sep 21, 2009

The hotel does not actually overlook the falls as advertised. You have to walk a block before you can see the falls. Parking ... is expensive and then the car came back filthy after being parked overnight. Dining in the hotel was very expensive. It was about twice as much as you would spend about a few miles from the tourist area of the falls. Hmmm, that is just not right. Communication and friendliness of staff could be much better.

Stressful.

Just wanted to relax Sep 12, 2009

Booked a room thru orbitz with specific ammenties and was excited to get a great rate for a view and bathtub with jets. ... Pulled in to find parking was $20 more a nite. Room had a view of a dumpster and no bath. Was on phone with orbitz for over an hour as the hotel blamed orbitz and orbitz blamed hotel. Missed the sunset as they battled it out. I was offered a voucher to the blah hotel resturant and a minor future discout from orbitz for a future booking. Very sad cause we drove hours specifically for the ammenties.Felt ripped off. Had a booking glitch with orbitz once before and had room covered and free room for future. Customer service seems to have dropped off and I am not as confident booking thru Orbitz. Second time this trip the room has been very dissipointing.

We got a good deal for a King size bed room with a Whirlpool tub. We did not know that the Tub was actually in the bedroom , ... not in the bathroom. That was a pleasant surprise. We used the tub as soon as we arrived but never used it again for the next 3 days of our stay. The location is good. the new casino is accross the street. a number of great restaurant are in the surrounding and on walking distance. IHOP restaurant on the mezzanine floor, a great facility. We had breakfast there the first day. The Casino building across the street obstructs proper view of the falls. Clifton Hill, the entertainment district is a bit far for a walk, although it was a pleasant walk in a nice sunny summer day. The tour desk people were very helpful. We purchased a package to see all the major attractions in the area and we got with it plenty fo extra stuff, including bus passes, magician show, extra tickets to visit the skylon tower ...

Warning - Information is false on Orbitz

Not a Happy Traveler Sep 3, 2009

This was a very embarrasing situation. I made the hotel arrangements for a girlfriends getaway. We were shocked when we tried ... to check into the hotel connected to the casino as it says on the web site and was told we were across & down the street half a block. The casino hotel said this situation happens all the time. So, we carried our bags over to the other hotel. Who wanted to pay twice for parking? I complained at check in and got nowhere because the room was pre-paid. I complained at check out and was told I would have to take it up with Orbitz. Orbitz told me I had to take it up with the hotel. No one is taking responsiblility for the lies on the Orbitz web site regarding this hotel's location and exterior. The hotel assistant manager conceded the picture on the orbitz web site is an artist's rendering of what it will look like someday after construction is completed. Believe me, it looks nothing like that now. So, why did I stay there? Because I had two weary friends and no other place to stay because the casino hotel was booked and we had concert tickets at the casino that night. Did I mention the room was over $200 for the night? Grrrrrr.....

Disappointed in Niagara Falls

John Sep 2, 2009

Very disappointed with the view from the room. Apparently, if you book through Orbitz, you will be given a room with a view ... of a construction site rather than a view of the falls, even though a falls view room was available. I told the check-in desk that I was disappointed with the room and they told me I could "up grade" to a falls view room for an additional $40.00 per night. It's felt like the old bate and switch game. Also, be prepared to pay an additional $23.20 per night for parking.

Entertainment hint, Short Walk

Stay at the Niagara Fallsview Casino, its much better, just like being at Las Vegas there. That hotel is beautiful.

Dining hint, Short Walk

Don't eat at the T.G.I. Fridays down the street, the food was not fresh and it cost 2-3 times more than it would have in the states. My salad, although cold, was browning and the 1/2 rack of ribs was rubbery. My husband ate soggy fajitas. We eat at Fridays locally from time to time and the food is better for 1/3 of the price... bottom line - don't waste your money. You can get a fantastic meal at the Keg steakhouse for the same price with an excellent view of the falls.

Dining hint, Short Walk

Plenty of dining options all around but everything is atleast twice the price of that on the US side of the falls.

Money savers hint, In Hotel

If you want very nice hotel with great views the Hilton or the sheraton are the way to go. For more cost effective hotels comfort inn and best westen and holiday inn are all in same location for better rates. All dining and entertainment within walking distancep

I arrived in my own car. I had to pay $20 for 24 hrs for the hotel valet. I later discovered that I could have parked it in the parking building of the casino across the street for $5 flat rate.

Recreation/Attractions hint, Short Walk

I would highly recommend this hotel - it was centrally located within walking distance to most everything we wanted to see and do.

To casino and the falls.

Park across the street instead of the hotel parking. Hotel parking is $20 a night and across the street parking is $10(weekend) or $5(week days) total.

Come to this hotel. It is a perfect distance to restaurants, casinos and night clubs! A perfect place to be.

Money savers hint, Short Walk

Park your car in the self parking structure across the street for only $5 instead of the valet parking offered by most of the hotels.

--xxx, Brooklyn, NY Jul 9, 2009

There is a nice casino across the street and the falls are a 5 min walk
