Fair Fairfield
We came in on the Key West Ferry & had no transportation except local conveyance. We walked to most of the old town areas. ... 3-5mi. You said the Inn served the old town area. It did not. They need a shuttle.

Smelly water
Nice remodel of what is clearly an older hotel. Location is not very good. Its not close to any of the attractions of Key ... West. Pool is gorgeous. Pool Bar is expensive, needs bigger TVs. Room was small but nice and clean. Biggest gripe was the water in the shower smelled awful. Never felt clean.

Local liquor stores have "Key West Bar Cards" all this year. They're $10 and they're good for 2-for-1 drinks on your first round at 10 local bars. Only problem is the Fairfield is a LONG walk from any of these bars.

Fairfiled Inn Key West
This is obviously a cheap makeover of a previously cheap motel. It would compare to Motel 6 in many respects. The breakfast ... was great, the staff was great...but the rest was far below what I have experienced from Mariott Farifield previously.

Nice hotel with super friendly staff who would do anything for you. The pool was nice and breakfast was nice. It's a couple ... of miles from Duval, but it's a nice walk. Don't take a Taxi - they will do anything to rip you off (we booked one but decided to take our own car to downtown - he wanted $16.00 ($4.00 per person) for a less than 5 min ride - ouch!!).

Extremely Noisy
Be aware if you planning to sleep while staying at this hotel it can be extremely noisy, every time someone passing by your ... room it's like they are in your room talking etc. If you are not so lucky and have some people standing outside their rooms talking 3-5 am until the hotel personal tell them twice to stop = no sleep. ( we had to call the reception twice for this service....)

Everything was excellent; the room were very spacious and comfortable, staff was very professional and friendly. We did ... unfortunately have an ant problem during our stay. Ants got into my kids cereal and other foods. They were first noticed in the bathroom (strange place) coming from the sink. The Manager did offer to discount our stay but because it was booked through Orbitz could not accomadate. Maybe Orbitz can do something for us.

While the hotel is a decent distance (relative to other higher priced) to downtown, you can't beat the price. Very helpful ... staff gave us tips on where to eat on a budget and answered all questions we had.

Get a cab and plan full days shopping and site-seeing -- Duval street is the center of the action and about 2 miles from the hotel. Tiki bar in hotel poolside closed at 7:00, though there were a few establishments within walking distance for some light fare and drinks.

We took advantage of a lot of the offerings on this trip, visiting the old forts, the Butterfly Conservatory and the public beach. Enjoy the Blues music at the Sunset Pier in the evening. We had excellent meals at Willie T's and Fogarty's (Try the ribs). The R-rated act of Pete & Wayne at Sloppy Joe's is excellent.
