Overall, for the price it was a good choice. The whole hotel just really needs to be repainted. It was pretty clean and the ... kitchenette and free continental breakfast were nice perks. The towels were a joke (the pool towels were about 1'X 2' and all the towels (bath towels included) were very poor quality. The mattress was quite comfortable, so we slept well. Overall I would rate this hotel as more of a 2 1/2 than a 3 as the website categorized it, but again, certainly a good value for an oceanfront room.

This was the off-season in Daytona, so everything was very quiet and peaceful--which is what we were seeking. The hotel's ... staff were VERY friendly--from the manager to the housekeeping staff. Wherever we went, we were greeted with smiles and a warm greeting. Made us feel welcome. The bed was quite comfortable, and the efficiency was well equipped. The bathroom is dated, but it was clean. We would stay there again

Unbelievable view of the ocean! Very nice staff and a very nice pool as well. Pretty good location as well... close to a ... couple souvenier shops, grocery shop and mini golf courses. The mini-kitchen and full size fridge also was very useful. The bathroom, however, needs a MAJOR update. It is almost too small to fit in and all there is is a stand alone toilet. Not too clean as well. Everything was very nice including the staff. Would definitely reccomend to anyone else.

Weekend trip for Space Shuttle Launch

We are very experienced travelers who have stayed at many chain and independent hotels. We needed a place to crash after a ... Space Shuttle night launch so we looked for a place on Orbitz hoping to find a great value for the money and we did! The El Caribe was a very nice independent hotel with great prices and nice rooms for the money. We will stay there again. The only drawback was the small and dated bathroom.

Unbeatable location for the price

We needed an ocean front hotel, to enjoy a few days with son that recently returned from Afghanistan. We chose El Caribe for ... the price and location, and could not have done better. It was a very nice stay and our son really enjoyed the rest and relaxation. It was truly everything we expected and then some. Also got to watch night launch of shuttle, was a very nice ending to a wonderful stay.

For great food and waterfront dining, we suggest, Down the Hatch, and Inlet Harbour. Both located in Ponce Inlet. However stay away form Boondocks, in the same area.

My girlfriend and I booked a room expecting only a single bed and a partial view of the ocean. What we got was two beds, a ... balcony view of the Atlantic Ocean, and a full kitchen! The place wasn't imaculate but it was just as clean as any other Daytona hotel. I would highly recommend El Caribe to any young couple on a budget

I usually try different hotels in this area just for fun. This one was lacking in anything special. On the bright side, all ... the staff are very friendly and helpful. Now for the rest. Outside our room on the ground level by the elevators was noisy well into the night. The room was small, the bathroom tiny. The walls needed painting and the convenient backdoor to the ocean would not open from the outside, requiring you to go back to the front of the room to return. The continental breakfast was uninventive, dry cereal, toast and bagels. Only a few tables, which guests camped around, requiring a return trip to your room to actually eat the meager fare. The lobby is tiny and located in a separate building, no place to congregate to meet friends or have a casual conversation or relax. Pool towels are small and rough. Needs a feature like a jacuzzi and someplace nice to hang out behind the hotel near the pools.

We relaxed and enjoyed the beach. There were volleyballs, and other games for the kids that were free just by checking them ... out at the office. The staff was excellent! The hotel just looked nothing like the brochure and when we mentioned it they said oh that was taken from the beach front. That really should have been advertised because when we got there we thought - this can't be it! But all in all it wasn't bad. No bugs and the room was clean. Elevator was stinky like people had been smoking in it or something.

Good value for money. The room was clean and neat and, although older construction, it was comfortable and everything ... worked. Breakfast donuts and coffee were available in the lobby. There is a Winn-Dixie and an IHOP across the street, but not much else within walking distance.
