Very accomodating, clean and quiet.

The hotel was great. Continental breakfast made for an easy up in the morning and out to sightsee. Close to Newport where ... the action is. We were very satisfied and in comparison to the other hotels, the price was reasonable.

The hotel was at a nice location, however the condition of the hotel needs major improvements. The shower (TUB) drain did ... not keep up with water intake which I find kind of gross. The carpets were very dirty. It was just too nasty.

There are some nicer places to stay nearby along with convienient shopping (grocery store, bookstore, movie theater, etc.).

Perfectly Fine for a Holiday Weekend

The EconoLodge in Middletown was overpriced for what it was--but so was every other hotel during Labor Day weekend. It was a ... perfectly serviceable motel that had seen better days. It's the kind of place I have no objection to staying in if it costs under $100, with tax included. The room was nice and large, however, and the staff friendly.

Simple but clean

The Econo Lodge is a no frills motel-- no pool or restaurant. But there are restaurants, a Stop&Shop and fast food places ... nearby and there was a stocked vending machine. THe rooms were kept very clean and the staff was friendly and quick to answer any calls and requests. My only two negative comments are the air conditioner was not powerful enough to cool the room on a humid day; and there was a huge water stain on the ceiling with plaster actually saggin in big pieces (there had been heavy rains the day before). But the king sized bed was nice and firm, there are lamps at the bed for reading and the room was big, with a desk and a couch for TV watching/fold out for more guests. Considering it was a last minute plan, we got a motel easy to find, but the price was a lot, more than I paid for a fancier stay in the winter.
