The hotel is undergoing renovation and we stayed in one of the new rooms...it was great...just like the picture. Quiet, ... comfortable, and lots of natural light. The pool was closed due to the renovation so if you're attached to any particular ammenities, call ahead before you book:). Staff was friendly and the location was on Broad St in the arts district. Lots to do and easy to walk everywhere.

I didn't know there was a Chinatown section close by..not as big as the one in NYC, but still worth checking out.

Good location, bad room
Michele Oct 14, 2009
The hotel was in a great location, within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and historic sites. Unfortunately, our ... room for the first night was in the middle of the bay of elevators, where the ice machine and cleaning supplies usually go (it was an actual guest room). We stuffed towels under the door to try to block the noise, but the elevators and the people kept us up all night. For an unknown reason, we also had a Murphy bed, which was not comfortable. I had to ask three times before they moved us. They did move us to a quiet room with a real bed for the last two nights; however, on the third night, we had to wait until 11:00 to get hot water. On the other hand, the concierge and other staff were very helpful providing directions, dining recommendations, etc...

Good room with some dissapointments
Rex Oct 7, 2009
The hotel was very nice and so were the staff. We were informed that all the rooms were non smoking, which was great, ... unfortunately when we first walked in the room it stank so much like someone had been smoking in the room. We heard that they had a great hot tub and pool so we went out and bought swim trunks and the hot tub was under reconstruction and the pool had weird things floating in it. The rooms were very clean and comfortable though, but a bit pricy.

Noisy young people partying and carrying on next door at 3 AM not our cup of tea. Service was friendly when there, but ... pretty much invisible (valets, parking, bellhops, etc.) Room was clean, flat screen TV nice (but analog, not digital reception), clock radio a joke. Good location for the arts.

UFC Weekend in Philadelphia
UFC Fan Aug 9, 2009
The Hotel was very clean. We enjoyed the Standing O bar and thought the employees were very nice. We really liked the nice ... warm cookies that they give you when you first check in. There were a couple things that we didn't like. We order room service, which is very expensive and since we were not able to eat all the food, we left it there to eat when we returned later that night. When we got back the food was gone. We called down to the front desk and they weren't helpful at all. They couldn't replace the food and then gave us a menu to a restuarunt down the street! So that was the only turn-off. Besides that it located in a nice area which is not to far from Liberty Bell as well as the Wachovia Center.

I was there for the fourth of July weekend. The hotel is perfectly located a 5 minute walk from the city hall and 15 minute ... walk to the old historic area. I had the corner room with a murphy bed. The large corner window had an amazing view up Broad street to city hall. The room was very clean and all of the staff I interacted with were helpful. The fitness center had plenty of cardio equipment. There was one cable machine and a good range of dumbbells. The breakfast on the second floor was very good, although a little pricey.

Worst hotel stay I ever had
zander0611 Jul 5, 2009
took my son to Philadelphia to spend 4th of July. Hotel room was alone with the elevators right out side the room door, ... People waiting for elevators were heard all hours of the night. Two people tried to enter the room thinking it was a door to the stairs. Hotels and Orbitz should provide the basic right that quests can at least rest while in their hotels. When you are awake all night ,it makes any day activities trying.

Rooms were retro and very clean. Flat screen TV's. Restaurant in the lobby was attractive - food was good. However, If there ... is no smoking in the hotel they need to say so before I book a room. I had to stand outside on Broad Street with the hookers and panhandlers to grab a smoke.

I love this place!!
Rich Jun 14, 2009
This place was perfect. Walking distance from almost everything. Room was very clean and quiet. Nice view of Broad ... street. Beds were excellent. Tv was big. The room could be opened up to the next room in case you have older kids that want their "own room". Never made it to the pool but it looked great. Hotel lobby was nice and the staff was very friendly and helped us out with directions. The only problem was that their are too many places to eat! Hard to choose with only staying two nights. We went to the Red Sox/Phillies game and it couldn't be easier to get there. Subway is right outside the hotel and your there in less than 10 minutes for only 2 bucks round trip. I would definitely come here again and probably will when I come down to see the Eagles or Phillies again. Cavanaughs was a great sports bar with awesome food that was only a short walk away.

I went through Orbitz for the 1st time. I specifically wanted a smoking room - Orbitz offered me that choice. The hotel is ... totally smoke free. When I wanted a cigar, I had to go downstairs and stand outside - 1 day in the rain!!! There was a newspaper on the floor behind a chair. From the date on it, it had been there for six days. The thermostat in the room allows you to control the temperature. Note, the lowest it goes is 68.6 degrees F. Even at that setting, the room was never below 71 degrees. Not every floor has an ice machine. I had to go up or down 1 floor to get ice.

Finally able to sleep at a hotel!
--Terry May 25, 2009
I booked at the Double Tree for an event at the Kimmel Center (across the street). I only stayed for one day. The hotel has a ... very retro/chic look and still smells brand new. The rooms were clean an spotless and the bathroom incredible! I actually slept at night. They have this new "sleep rooms" advertisement and boy do they live up to it! The beds were so comfortable. The location is great (right on the avenue of the arts) and safe. Parking is along side the hotel and the rates are not bad (considering the rest of the city). I ate downstairs at the Standing O Bar and Bistro. The food was good as were the staff. They also have a Cafe on the second floor (but I did not dine there). Overall, I enjoyed staying there. The only occassional noises you here are if there are rescue services flying past (ambulances, police, etc)...other than that A+!
