Rude Hotel Staff!
Spencer Nov 16, 2009
Maybe the WORST staff I have ever encoutered! One of the hotel attendants even accussed me of lying when I said we had been ... waiting for our car for 15 minutes. Also, the hotel was in the process of painting and my wife got paint all over her purse because a paint can was next to the bellhop check-in. I will never stay at this hotel, even if it is free!

Good Location, Bad Bathroom

Good location since I was attending an event at the Peabody hotel. This hotel is 3 blocks from Beale Street, so it is easy to ... get to, but you don't hear the Beale Street noise. The lobby and the room was stylish and comfortable. My only complaints are related to the bathroom 1) it was very small (the door just barely cleared the toilet bowl), 2) the toilet water pressure was horrible, 2) my shower head was broken (water would come out, but the shower head itself was not adjustable, it was broken and just hung limply such that it would only shoot water straight down on top of the tub spout).

Once a trip starts off on the wrong foot be have a dendency to start picking things apart. Upon arrival we were delayed ... checking into the hotel because there was a large group all checking in at the same time. We had to stand inline for OVER an hour only to be told that our room was not readly...back to the end of the line. We finally got into our room after 4PM in the afternoon.

Terrific business hotel downtown!!
G Money business traveler Oct 15, 2009
Was here for two nights on business and found the hotel to be conveniently located downtown across from the Peabody ... Hotel/Place and Autozone Park. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. I was dealing with lost luggage and the staff was very helpful in improving my stay under the circumstances. The hotel lobby looked newly renovated and had a great brick facade that was three stories tall. TGIF restaurant and bar was conviently attached to the hotel, with a decent omelette/waffle bar and traditional buffet for breakfast. Overall, this is a convenient hotel for business and I will be staying here again on my next business trip to Memphis.

Better than Peabody!!
Hotel Critic Sep 14, 2009
We have tried several of the hotels in the area but Double Tree seems to be the best for our money. Comfortable beds, rooms ... are a nice size, CLEAN, everything within walking distance, Beale Street, shopping, restuarants, we typically go to Denny's across the street for breakfast but if there is a major event (football game) in the area then you have to get there early. The only thing I didn't like at first was that we were given wrist bands to wear. Well, after the football game we were RUNNING to get back into the shelter of the hotel. The wrist bands were worth while because no one was allowed in the rooms without them. A big PLUS considering the type of crowd that was trying to get in! So this stopped ALL unwelcomed, noisy, routy people from entering the room area. They had to stay in the lobby or restuarant. Valet parking required & they park your vehicle in their garage so it is safe...unlike the ONE time we chose to stay in another hotel not far away and someone tried to steal our car! There is a really nice mall about 20 min away and plenty of shopping centers along the way. Also about 20 min from Liberty football stadium. Right across the street from the baseball park. The only bad experience was trying to sleep after the game. Beale street is right around the corner...loud cars and motor bikes until about 3 am! no sleep. Rooms much larger than Peabody.

My boyfriend and I went to Memphis for Elvis week. So it was a very busy vacation with lots to see. The location of the hotel ... was perfect! It was hands down the best hotel that we have ever stayed in, and if we go again next year we will definitely be booking a room at the DoubleTree again!!! The staff was very friendly and the room was great! Even the waitstaff at TGIFridays was awesome! No complaints from us, thats for sure!!! The only thing we do regret is not having enough time to enjoy the pool. We were much too busy enjoying Memphis and all it had to offer. But thanks to the Doubletree we got plenty of R&R on our trip as well!

Really great location across the street from the ball park and just a short walk to Beale street. The pool was small but ... heated and fine for small children. The only thing we were upset about was no breakfast options that didn't break the bank. The staff was very helpful and polite.

Disappointed Wife Jul 9, 2009
We were there for our 11th Wedding Anniversary and were excited about staying at this hotel. It seemed to be in a good ... location. We checked in and rode the elevator to the third floor. The carpet on the third floor had a lot of black stains on it. This was on the entire third floor. We went to the second floor to check out the pool and it had the same stains. Why hasn't the carpet been replaced? It was nasty! The other complaint that I had was that we spent over $100 per night for our room and there was not continental breakfast offered. We had to purchase breakfast from TGI Fridays located in the hotel. You will also have to pay $20 daily for parking! I would have rather stayed somewhere cleaner.

We loved our stay at the Doubletree. The staff was the best ever!! Very friendly and very helpful. Rooms were kinda small but ... spotless and very clean. We had a very quiet room and slept well. The only downside to the Doubletree was the hallways and carpets. they were a mess! Torm, stained and very filthy plus the hallways have no A/C so they are very hot. Ohter than those to problems, the hotel was top notch!..we would stay there again..

We went to Memphis for a concert. The Doubletree is very close to the FedEx Forum, so we just walked from the hotel. We were ... welcomed with warm cookies and friendly service. The only disadvantage was the "mandatory" valet parking that cost $20. Had we known this, we would have parked our vehicle in a garage elsewhere. Overall, the hotel was great. The TGI Firday's downstairs was a nice perk also.

Suzanne Dec 21, 2008
The Room was much larger than we had expected and the bed was extremely comfortable, the hotel offered free wireless which ... was a great asset, the bathroom was very nice though a little cramped and supplied very nice complementary toiletries. Though we did have room service each day the quality of the service was poor as the room was never dusted or hoovered at all in the week that we stayed there neither were the carpets in the hallway outside the room. TGI Fridays was the the hotels restaurant and the food I have to say was absoultley appalling and the hygiene left a lot to be desired. On the few occasions that we did have contact with the staff they were very friendly and helpfull. The location of the hotel was very good it was in walking distance to Beale Street, the Mississippi, Sun Studio's (though some may wish to take a cab) and was just across the road, all the local restaurants, bars and shops are also in walking distance and, Gracelands was about a 25 minute cab drive away which should cost around $25 not including a tip.

The staff at this hotel were extremely friendly, cheerful and thoughtful - I don't think we have every experienced this level ... of service before. Upon our arrival, the front desk to the maid service went out of their way to accomodate us. Our only rather negative was the restaurant, TGI Friday, the food was mediocre and it wasn't very clean.

There are many great restaurants in the downtown Memphis area, terrific steak, seafood and of course BBQ. We ate at three fine dining places during the week and were totally satisfied with both the food, pricing and service. There is a trolley that goes to many more that are not within a short walk.
