Great location, very nice experience
Jaekha Nov 9, 2009
The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly from the moment we arrived. Southern charm at its best. We were greeted by the ... valet/bellman and front desk staff and the check-in process was smooth, but the best part was the great cookies the Doubletree gives each guest upon arrival...some of the best I've ever had! The room was clean and spacious and the location was ideal. Right in the historic district near Market Square! Really nice for dining/shopping/walking near the river. We only stayed one night, but wished it had been longer. We'll definitely come back to the Doubletree the next time we are in Savannah!

The hotel is very close to Riverwalk, where you can access many great resturants. Paula Deen's "The Lady and Sons" requires reservations even for lunch!
--Abby, Syracuse, NY Nov 4, 2009
Make sure you go to Belford's it has great casual (you) fine dining (servers). While you're in city market you can then check out the candy shop and some great local art. For nightlife check out Live Wire music hall straight in line with the Double Tree but on River Street. Great live music, especially if you can catch the band Turtle Folk while you're there.

Very Nice Place
Abby Nov 4, 2009
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are great, and the pool is unique! My only complaint is the entrance to the hotel-it is ... compact and confusing-I had to wait twenty minutes to move my car when I pulled in to check in, because there was no way to pass the car parked in front of me or to turn around.

Jenn Nov 3, 2009
I used to go to school in Savannah and stayed at this hotel due to its convenient location. I had a great experience! The ... staff was very nice, we got warm cookies upon checking in, the room was very clean and had a great view of the bridge heading into South Carolina. The room was very spacious and parking was valet underground so your car was safe. It wasn't too expensive per night considering some places I've stayed, and in comparison to other place in the same location in SAV.

Had to move rooms, the rooms facing Bay St where to noisy. Concierge [...] was very helpful in setting up activities and ... restaurants. We where disappointed in Paula Deen's restaurant in comparison to others we went to(Chart House, Olde Pink House, Girabaldi's). Savannah's nice but we had a better time with more things to do and see on a trip we did to Charleston.

Great value for a downtown location. Valet parking for $10 a day, very reasonable, as you should walk anywhere you may go. ... Did not recieve the King bed as requested and smoking rooms are smelly. Nice lobby, plenty of pillows, fitness center and location are great.

Quick Getaways Aug 25, 2009
The location was good. I was very disappointed with the room. I was expecting a lot more. The pictures that were ... advertised were nothing like the room. The AC unit was really noisey and when I called to see about switching rooms I was told they would get back with me, that they may be at capacity. The room was turned down, but the sheets were not changed, they just remade the bed. Thought a continental breakfast was offered and after we ate was then told we had to pay. I also requested a king bed, but got two queens.

Staff will not take care of customers
Beth Jul 27, 2009
I reserved my room with Orbitz, but when I went to check-in, they had overbooked and I couldn't stay in the Doubletree. I ... had specifically booked this hotel for the location on Bay Street, but their solution was to send me across the river to another hotel. And the ferry to get to/from the hotel to River Street and the bars stopped at 11pm. So we had to get a cab just to get back to the hotel which cost only a dollar less than what it would have cost to have just taken a cab from my apartment. Doubletree insincerely offered to "comp" my room, knowing that Orbitz had already charged my card in advance. And since, they have done their best to give me the run around everytime either myself or the Orbitz rep calls to get my money back (to include the cab fare!). Don't use this hotel, they really don't care.
