This hotel is conveniently located, right next to the MAX line. Getting in from the airport, or to downtown, is a breeze. ... Try to get an ODD numbered room and you are away from the transit corridor which can be sort of loud in a low-rumbling way. The internet ($10 a day) was blazing fast too. Great linens here...nice comfortable beds. I'd stay again.

Convenient to convention center
KTtravellin Oct 22, 2009
The best thing about this hotel is its highly convenient location to the Oregon Convention Center where I was attending a ... conference. The hotel is right next to the MAX light rail line making for a quick ride (2 short stops, about 5 minutes) to the Convention Center. If you prefer walking, you can get there in 10 minutes on foot. I was also able to take the MAX both to/from the airport (about 25-30 min) and around downtown (across the river from convention ctr) with ease. Rooms were nice, but nothing special. I enjoyed the fitness center, which is above average, and used it several times during my stay. Friendly, helpful staff.
Traveler type: Business
To reach good dining, you will really need to hop on the MAX light rail and take it into downtown Portland (10 minutes).

GOOD RATE, CLEAN ROOM
ALL-IN MMA Aug 31, 2009
Other than $9 parking, the Orbitz rate was great and the room was clean and ready when we arrived on a busy night when they ... were totally booked (UFC 102). The bar was nice and food/drink reasonably priced but they were short staffed and closed at 12pm on a Sat. night when the place was full of hotel guests!?

Don't plan a gathering past 11pm at the hotel. They pretty much roll up the carpets and shut down.

beautiful room

One of the three glass elevators was broken. A convention, weddings and assorted guests were all sharing one fully ... operational and one partially operating elevator. Only a problem when trying to connect with the rest of our party or when trying to catch a train. This is our only real complaint. The rest of the stay was quite good. Good location, staff, rooms, views, facilities. This equaled our recent stay at a Hilton Hotel & Executive Towers in Portland (the room was more spacious).

No car needed!
Sue Sandpiper Aug 21, 2009
We booked the Doubletree three months in advance, taking advantage of a really great rate. After the first night, my husband ... drove on to his high school reunion, leaving me on my own in Portland. The hotel is across the street from the first/last stop in MAX's fareless square -- easy access to downtown! Lloyd Center Mall is a block away, and lots of local shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance. I felt quite safe walking alone in the evening in these well lighted areas. We had a huge, quiet room with great amenities. The maid service was a little inconsistent - someone different every day -- but nothing warranting a complaint. My only disappointment was that the TV cable service did not offer AMC, so I missed the season opener of "Mad Men"! Overnight parking is a little pricey, but we only had to pay for the nights we actually used it. There was a charge for WiFi in the room, but it was free in the lobby. That doesn't make much sense to me! The restaurant has good, reasonably priced food and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. All in all, we had a great stay, and would recommend the hotel to anyone!

July Portland Trip
karen yapp Jul 12, 2009
it seems like everytime we book through orbitz or even another, we get an inferior room than if we booked directly with the ... hotel; always next to the air conditioning units and more often than not, on a floor that used to be the smoking floor, simply disgusting in smell, which gave us both headaches, both nights. we were also told that parking would be validated by the hotel for parking across the way, when in actuality we paid $18 nightly.

I expected more from a Hilton. No wireless internet--needed to use their business center, if a computer was open. The ... room's fire alarm and air duct both where hanging from the ceiling. Convenient Location
Urvi Dec 27, 2008
Great location for downtown Portland. It's not central to downtown but there's a light-rail station right across the street ... that can take you anywhere in downtown. This light-rail station is within Fareless Square and so it is free to ride! The hotel itself was clean and comfortable although we found our room to be a little small. The staff was very friendly and helpful and warm cookies were available at the front desk!
