From the second I walked into the hotel, I felt a sense of comfort about it. The staff was extremely friendly and welcomed ... us with open arms. They made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The room was very clean and smelled nice. I would definitely stay there again should I be back in the area.

Since this suite had a kitchen, I went to the nearby flagship Whole Foods Market and stocked the fridge with wonderful, healthy, fresh food. It was a real treat to have delicious snacks and meals ready so I could unwind at the end of a busy day.

For a basic, no frills, business hotel this one can't be beat. If you are a room service junkie note that the menu is ... EXTREMELY limited and plan accordingly.

Super Service, expensive weekend
Traveling Mom Oct 12, 2009
Went to the CU/UT football game and chose this hotel due to the location near UT. The GREAT part is the STAFF. The bar man ... made a milk shake for our daughter even though it's not on the menu;room service stayed open late to fill our request; the front desk allowed us to check out late, and every hotel member was gracious and friendly. The bad news is that with the parking and wi-fi charges, taxes and usual home-game weekend price hike, I paid $375/night for a comfortable but not large or well appointed suite in an adequate hotel. The pool is outdoors but not heated and you have to take the stairs or walk through a restaraunt to get to it. No spa, coffee or gift shop. The parking is tight and $15/day (no valet) and Wi-Fi is an extra $12/day. Next time, for the game- day price I will go to AT&T which is actually closer to the stadium (even though I checked 3 net map sites reported otherwise) and more posh. I would go here again when the prices are more reasonable, and surely for business due to the location to the capital...but for family, I prefer a warm pool and pampering when I pay this much in Texas.

I came to the Double Tree Guest Suites on my bachelorette party. As soon as we checked in the staff was very friendly and ... helpful. We had a large group but the staff didn't mind at all! The hotel is in a great location. The hotel shuttle even took us to our dinner reservations. No complaints here.

Nice room, bad service
Less than happy Aug 17, 2009
Due to the face that our room was perfectly suited for our needs, I would love to give the Double Tree a wonderful review. ... However, the rude staff we encountered while staying at the hotel makes that impossible. The front desk was unhelpful and seemed irritated whenever we so much as asked for directions. The valet seemed to be having a bad night and made sure we knew about it. In fact, I felt uncomfortable and guilty any time we needed to ask for anything at all. On the plus side, the kitchen in the room was well equipt and convenient. And the location made navigating the city fairly easy. In addition, the pool area was lovely. If the priced were lower I could maybe understand the staff's attitude. But for the prices we paid, that type of behavior is absurd. (The housekeeping staff was kind and efficient - and was tipped graciously as a result.)

We went down to Austin to celebrate our anniversary. We got a suite with a living room/kitchenette and a separate bedroom. ... The living room had a sleeper sofa, so it really could have slept 4 people. There were two LCD TV's (one in the bedroom, one in the living room). The room was huge, but the bathroom was pretty tiny, which was fine with just the two of us. They do allow pets, but be warned its a pet fee. Also, they do charge to park in their garage and even more for valet (of course). We stayed on the 10th floor and there were floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room -- great views! Our room overlooked the pool. It was a good location, but we still ended up driving to 6th street. Its off of 15th and Guadalupe, so it would have been a bit of a walk, especially for the dogs. The room was quiet and pretty clean. There was no hair-dryer in the room, but when I informed the front desk, they had one brought up within 5 minutes. The only negatives I could mention: -No free breakfast (What can I say, I'm a poor college student and love free food!!) -The room was a bit dirty (Nothing major - a little mildew on the shower curtain, duvet didn't have a cover, it was just wrapped in bedsheets) -Could have been closer to 6th street/downtown -Could have been cheaper (Again...poor college student!)

The room was extra comfortable and quiet, the hotel staff was great, the location to events, excellent dining, and ... opportunity for site seeing was second to none. The only draw back was a less than inspiring kitchen, and no real grocery shopping close by. Whether a short or a long stay is in your time schedule, this hotel would put you in the Heart of Austin.

Though I was at the Doubletree Hotel on business, I found that the family would have enjoyed the stay there also. The Suite ... was large enough to accommodate 4-6 people. The bed was large and conformable, So much so that it was hard to get up and get moving. I was impressed with having a TV in the living room and one in the bedroom. The dining room area had a table with 4 chairs and a seprate full kitchen ( stove-refer-micro-dishwasher-dishes-utensils ). The next time the family and I go out of town I'll be staying at a Doubletree Hotel.
