The hotel takes its name from the founder of the religious institute. It was during the year 1642, when Donna Camilla, noble lady of the Farnese family, commissioned Francesco Borromini to design the convent of the "Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori" and the adjoining namesake church. After an immaculate restoration, with respect both to the architectural criteria of the Baroque period and of the original project of Borromini, the convent has been transformed into a four star hotel. The roof garden of the Donna Camilla Savelli bestows almost the impression of travelling back in time through the centuries. In the centre is positioned a fountain, also from the Baroque period. And radiating out from the fountain is an immaculate garden, well tended in every detail, an ideal location for receptions and exclusive events or simply the place to enjoy a relaxing moment with a book. The cloister, the refectory, the entrance and communal areas, all conceived by Borromini recalling the classic antiquity and the atmosphere of the Adriana Villa in Tivoli, make the Donna Camilla Savelli a unique entity in the landscape of Italian hotels. The hotel amenities are: Bar, conference facilities, disabled facilities, doctor on call, internet access-high speed, internet access-wireless, laundry service, lift/elevator, lobby, non-smoking rooms, parking facilities-at cost, reception, room service, room service-24 hrs, safe deposit box.

Stay with BORROMINI!
Writer1 Jul 5, 2009
A first rate hotel in a beautifully restored former convent, designed by the great Francesco Borromini. A luxurious, restful ... and gracious hotel, seamlessly integrated within a highly characteristic work of this Baroque master. A thrill for any lover of Roman art history... or just anyone seeking a fabulous hotel experience. Can't beat the location: right at the bottom of the Janiculum, with its stunning views of the city, and within a block or two of the best restaurants in the very trendy (and authentically Roman) Trastevere. I used to stay at a more expensive hotel right next to the Pantheon. From now, on, I'll stay at Donna Camilla Sevelli.
