Nice place to stay and priced right
Rachel H Oct 31, 2009
The location was perfect for getting around the bay area. The grounds are beautiful. The architecture and woodwork ... throughout the lobby and main hotel is beautiful. It's a beautiful place to have a wedding. While we were there two weddings took place. Our room was in a quiet location. The beds were comfy. The toilet seat was not secured and it was not thoroughly cleaned. We were very surprised and disappointed to see this. Service for the most part was very good. The breakfast and service in the Silver Creek room was very good. The price included breakfast, so the value was defintely there. I would rate this place a four star hotel not five star. We were disappointed when we checked out around 5:30 AM, due to an illness, and requested a bag of ice and it could not be accommodated. I would stay there again.

A beautiful property! Very nice accomodations. Robes in your room! The property is in the direct flight path of the airport ... and there are airplanes flying over about every 2 minutes, but they did not bother me unless I was outside. A short walk from the parking lot to your room, and no one to offer to help with bags. Perhaps there was someone, but no one offered and I didn't ask. Could be difficult for elderly guests. Delicious buffet breakfast is included in the B & B package, does not include tax. Overall a lovely place, I would return.

Fine dining (spendy) in the evening, or sandwiches in the bar, nothing in between. Be sure to take money in the morning if you are having the buffet as they taxes and gratuity are not included with your complimentary meal.

Upon my arrival the front desk supervisor attendant was not very friendly. When my reservation was not found he was a bit ... hesitant to further look for it. Finally another person was able to find it by simply reworking my name. Although the main building is a landmark, the hotel building and pool surrounds the complex which both needs updating.

Other than the bed being a little too soft for our liking, we found the room very comfortable and quiet. The grounds are ... absolutely beautiful, and having a park next door was a bonus. The guide book provided in the room was very helpful. Not being able to park by our room was unfortunate.

Got great deal thru Orbitz and it was definately 3 stars higher than we normally travel. Arrived after long trip and looked ... like the Clampets but treated as any of the richer people there. The food is too good. Buffet breakfast option is worth it but do not eat it if you are going to Great America later that day.

We took advantage of the Bed & Breakfast package and it was a HIT with the kids! The staff was great and very accommodating ... to those with families..not just business travelers. Kids were well behaved so they knew what was expected of them at a resort like this. The rooms were more than comfortable with many useful amenities we don't often see unless getting a 2 room suite or Deluxe Suite at other hotels (like 2 sinks and sufficient drawer space)! A great experience especially for the price! Will definitely go again when in the area. Being in a residential area just added to the quiet/restful tones of the hotel.

Laura Jul 15, 2009
This hotel was once an enormous family estate so it is by definition not centrally located, but we did not mind that. (If ... you are looking for nearby nightlife or fine shopping and dining, this is not really the place, although there is a mall a couple of miles away and San Jose proper is about 15 mnutes away on the freeway.) The property is lovely and gracious and our 5 night stay was totally relaxing. Even on the weekend, when they were sold-out and there was a wedding, it was quiet and peaceful. There are public golf courses nearby, the fitness center-steam room-sauna is great, lovely pool, and there are 2 restaurants on the property (which we did not use because we had family events). The grounds are beautiful with numerous small areas with tables and umbrellas, perfect to catch up with friends or just to read a book outside in the gorgeous climate. The mansion itself has a number of lovely public spaces, a bar, library, business center etc, all within this historic mansion. The staff was uniformly friendly and attentive. We had a "standard queen" room which had a desk, plus another small table and chairs, plus an additional sink and vanity! The beds were extremely comfortable with fabulous feather pillows and the linens were lovely. Terrific bathrobes. The towels could have been a bit more luxurious, though, to go with the rest. We had a great rate from orbitz and would definitely return to this hotel.

The hotel had no reservation on file for us. They were reluctant to give us a room even with our confirmation letter from ... orbitz. The breakfast doesn't open until 6:30am so the free breakfast wasn't very helpful. We arranged to have a small breakfast sent up to the room since we had to leave early in the morning. The 2 (party of 4) bagels were stale and a couple of cereal boxes were pretty small considering we gave up our morning coupons to arrange something else. The room was ok but the carpets are very old and stained. The resort has no internet and our cell phones barely functioned there.

Overall hotel experience was fantastic! The staff was accommodating and the grounds were beautiful. Breakfast was a great ... bonus. The pool was a decent size, but busy at times. The fitness center is cozy, but has all the equipment needed plus 2 tv's. The room was larger than the average hotel room and well kept. The hotel is not located in downtown, but is easily accessible from just about anywhere. If they have a deal, I would absolutely recommend staying here.
