It was more than what i expected.....
Our first trip Nov 17, 2009
It was more than what I expected..... ...I must say I did enjoy Divi Little Bay; it was more than what I expected. The room ... was exactly what I wanted down to the pictures online. The only issue I had was that the phone in our room, wouldn't allow you to dial out and we called the front desk to ask for any suggestion and they were unhelpful and short (an I don't care attitude). The T.V also had about 5 channels that only came in clear half the time. To me the staff (Maintenance, cleaning staff, waitress, and hostess) was the BEST. For me they get 5 stars. Nice, helpful, friendly, courteous...Front desk gets about 2 1/2 Stars. I don't think I should have to ask the maintenance staff where the restaurants are located on the resort or where the fitness center is? I believe that is what the front desk does when you check in? Hmm..Maybe I am mistaken. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would stay there again. But next time would try other restaurants outside the hotel.

Best location on the island, close to shopping and everything. Fantastic beach, not the best sand, but still a very nice ... beach. Can snorkel right off the beach as snorkel trips are being dropped off continuously right at our spot. We were placed on the hill in a time-share which was really nice, had a full kitchen, large refrigerator and terrific view. Our friends were in a hotel room right off the beach which was nice but the rooms were small.

You have to go to St barts, which is an hour away by boat. The most beautiful island i ever been to. A little pricey but well worth it just to check it out for the day. You will think you are in the south of france in one area and then in paradise island the other.

Great Views!!!
Cuban lover Aug 29, 2009
The hotel's location was great. You will see some wonderful views as only in post cards. Staff is not so friendly except the ... few that was very nice. Rooms are priced pretty reasonably but food there was not so good and very pricey. Breakfast is the worst and i recommend a very good restaurant also very close called Chesterfieds, All the cab drivers knows this place. Go there for breakfast. You wont regret it. The rooms are OK but the suites are great, walk in closet, jacuzzi, nice balcony, kitchen and even washer and dryer and some even have big 40 inch flat screen tv's. I liked the place so much that i even bought a time share there. Trust me if you go there ask for the suites. You wont be disappointed. Over all i strongly recommend this place.

The hotel was near (walking distance) Philipsburg the capital of the Dutch side. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, ... nice location with room viewing the beach. Rooms were nice, although we had some trouble with the hot water. The hotel restaurant was really nice, good price, excellent food and service. Overall, for the price it is nice. But if I have the chance to go back to St. Maarten (which I will do) I would try to find another hotel. If you are traveling on a budget this is nice place to stay.

Andrew Jun 29, 2009
The Divi resort has a quiet beach overlooked by the standard rooms. Rooms are basic but clean and adequate. The resort has ... two places to eat, one for lunch, another for dinner. Food was comparatively priced to restaurants outside the resort. Wait staff were friendly on the whole, which was more can be said for those working the front desk. A small shop and supermarket are on site but prices are ridiculous. We walked out of the resort to nearby Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch side. The walk is approximately 20-25 mins and takes you to a variety of places to eat/drink and shops. However, here is the word of warning for venturing outside the resort: be aware that after dark you should consider the town unsafe. There is little police presence and theft, prostitution, drug and alcohol abuse are common. Our one major complaint was the lack of warning about the situation outside of the resort. After having our hire car broken into and another guest being held-up at knife point we suggested that the resort staff warn guests to take appropriate precautions. The resort staff said they were unaware of any problems. I considered this to be a dangerous level of denial as the problems and potential dangers were made obvious to us in the five days we were there. The lack of acknowledgment by the staff was simply irresponsible, and the denial of any problems clearly a lie given that uniformed security staff patrol the resort's grounds. Otherwise, despite being robbed the stay on the island was great and the resort's location ideal with a family friendly beach with good snorkeling and swimming. The island is beautiful, just take sensible precautions and care if you go exploring.

Divi Little Bay is in a perfect setting, once you get there. The turn you need to make off the main road in not marked and is ... steep and sharp. Hard to find as a newcomer. The staff were not very helpful or friendly. They did their job but that was about it. The bartender at the bar was very nice. Overall felt like it was a real effort for anyone to help or answer questions. This was our second visit to the Caribbean. They did upgrade our room because of the hurricane damage and that was nice. It was an updated kitchenette with stove, microwave and refrigerator. Very clean and useful. The beach was lovely, the view was beautiful. There is a Fort within hiking distance with beautiful views as well as sunsets. You will need a car if you plan on traveling outside the resort. We were quite disappointed when we discovered that the two pools were being renovated.

My review of Divi Little Bay - All Suites
Sharri Oct 1, 2008
We were met at the check-in counter with friendly, warm similing faces and a glass of rum punch and because our room was not ... quite ready, we had more punch and a chance to view the spectacular scenery all around us. The staff was quite cordial and accomodating. After marveling at our hotel room and the view from the balcony, we ate at the hotel's restaurant. The meal was tasty, but took way to long to get us. They said it was because they were vey busy but the restaurant was not crowded. The bartenders were good. Our hats off to him and his great Pina coladas and Pain Killers! Gizmo the parrot was a sight to behold. We took the tour of the island and enjoyed the trip to the French side. We also got massages at the spa. We were there for my cousin's wedding and everything was beautiful. It was my first trip to the island and I enjoyed my stay tremendously!!! I will be back.

My husband and I had a difficult time finding the hotel due to invisible signs letting you know that there was even a hotel ... at that entrance. RIDICULOUS!! The check-in took 25 mins. and the staff behind the desk was just not communicating well. Eventually, our check-in was done and our room was nice w/ an ocean view. However, as in so many hotels, cleanliness seemed to be an issue in the bathroom...and Ants! Questionable types of hair were in the tub, and floor was in need of bleach. If the property was busy, I can understand some overlooking, but this was not the case when we were there. The only time we actually got the full set of towels were the 1st and last days. Constantly an issue, and when there were NO washcloths I couldn't excuse that. My husband asked the maid whom he found outside a nearby room, she said she'd bring some... and guess what? Right... it never happened. On the morning we checked out, water came in under the door and well... we had to use those limited towels to mop it up.Would return to the the island, just not that hotel.

The hotel staff gave the wrong information regarding give aways. I called serveral times to get bathroom items for my room ... and they never came to give it to me. The rooms were comfortable but the suites are better. The view was amazaing but the hotel is hard to find. It took me almost an hour to find the hotel. Since it was my son and I we were treated differently than a family or a couple.

We recently stayed at the hotel versus the time share condos/villas. We were so pleased---walked out on our balcony and down ... a few stairs and there we were on the beach. Better yet, we were right on the first floor. The beach in front of the hotel was beautiful---great water, waves enough to do a little surfing. Didn't really utilize the pool areas but appeared small but well maintained.

Good location but believe that you really would not want to walk anywhere. The casino is down the street about 3/4 mile up and down hills, and downtown Philipsburg where there is dining and shopping in at least a 15 minute walk. The Divi resort is situated on a peninsula--Little Bay on one side where you can watch the cruise and freighter ships come ... in Great Bay and Philipsburg on the other side. The water is calm--not like the Atlantic side around Oyster Bay. The hotel is in the midst of renovating, and they are doing a very nice job. The spa is very nice and the people very friendly. We had a studio that had a stove, microwave, refrig, coffee maker, blender, etc. We ate two meals in the room each day.Fairly new market not too far away. Nice bathroom facilities--whirlpool tub and shower with separate dressing area. Biggest complaint would be the entrance to the resort. It is located on a very steep hill. Very difficult to spot and because of the steep incline it is very difficult to get out into traffic.

The Divi Little Bay's location was great for traveling to other beaches and places of interest. Although the beach at Little ... Bay was so nice I didn't want to leave it. The hotel room was small but right on the beach which was great. A small but comfortable balcony made morning tea and evening drinks very relaxing. The sunset was fantastic. The bars at the restaurant need to be more centrally located, they are at both ends of the resort. The restaurant is fine, but there are so many restaurants on the Island that you will find yourself exploring the different areas.
