Great Atmosphere and friendly staff

Amazing service - the guy at the front desk gave us an upgraded room that overlooked the river that connects the hotel to ... downtown disney. The pool is great with lots of characters surrounding the pool - it was very innovative. There is plenty of parking, buses to various parks, and a boat that will take you straight to downtown disney all day. The hotel was very quiet, only thing is that the toilets are very loud and you can hear them from floor to floor when they are flushed. There is a great cafeteria style food area, if you want a full service restaurant downtown disney is close by or other hotels have a full service restaurant that you can check out as well. We were only in for a night but had a great time and would recommend to anyone needing a hotel on the disney property.

I LIKED THE FACT THERE WAS BUS SERVICE TO ALL THE DIFFERENT PARKS. SINCE THESE BUSES RAN EVERY 20 MINUTES YOU COULD TRAVEL ... WHEN IT WAS BEST FOR YOU. I WAS ABLE TO VISIT EACH PARK SPENDING TIME BEST FOR ME AND WAS ABLE TO CATCH A BUS BEFORE THE CROWD LEFT THE PARK FOR THE DAY. SINCE I WAS STAYING AT A DISNEY RESORT HOTEL I WAS ABLE TO ENJOY EXTENDED HOURS AT THE PARKS.

It was a breeze to check in and our room was cool and comfortable. We quickly changed to take advantage of the Hot Tub and ... Pool. Due to lightning we were unable to take the boat to Downtown Disney. You can't beat having bus service to the parks from your hotel.

We love the intimacy of this hotel, many Disney properties are so large-it can require a compass and a map to find the food ... court, pool , or bus stop, Not here. You can go down for a quick dip in the pool, get a cup of coffee in the morning, and best of all, your room is always close to the bus stop after a long day in the parks.

Nothing special, but fine for the price
Black Earthling Apr 22, 2009
The Port Orleans - French Quarter was nothing special, but we were happy with the choice since you can spend a LOT more for ... lodging in Disney World. Our biggest complaint was that the beds were old and concave (so both parties tended to get sucked into the middle). The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. We only ate once at the food court, and it seemed ok. The Disney shuttles worked well. But driving around Disney in our rental van was a confusing mess, with curving roads so you couldn't tell which direction you were heading, and signs that had only park or hotel names (no road names... hint to Disney: add the road names to your signs so people using maps can figure out which turns to take).

Go to the Disney parks early, then take a break around noon from the heat and sun for a recharging nap in your air-conditioned room. Then eat a buffet supper and head back to the parks around 5pm for the rest of the day (you won't need to buy a meal, just a snack or two for the evening).

A Touch of the Big Easy
Susan Jul 23, 2008
Port Orleans French Quarter is pretty with lush vegetation and wrought iron abounding. The pool is creative and sparkling ... clean. The full beds seem small for 2 people but the room was nicely decorated, and perfectly clean. It also has a fridge, a small table, two sinks, and I thought alot of storage. It worked out well for our family of three. It could use a sit down restaurant but there were alot of choice in the counter service place and there is a lounge also. It works great staying at Disney as we enjoyed the early magic hours and never had to wait long for a bus.

Port Orleans Hotel (French Quarter) was a beautiful place to stay. The location is excellent for those (like myself and my ... family) that want to have a dream vacation. One can go to Downtown Disney using the boat service (every 20 minutes or so). And the service, ohh! that's great. People is so good, so kind. Our experience was terrific.

Love Disney but not this particular Disney resort
Tina Apr 4, 2008
My wife and I are huge Disney Fans. We have a Florida Resident Seasonal Pass which we use often. We also have the Disney ... Dininig Experience. The rooms were a disappointment. We stayed on the second floor in Building #2. Very difficult getting luggage from parking lot to room. Only elevators are located considerable distance from majority of rooms. Beds were small. We stayed 4 nights and the bedding was never changed. The window AC was very loud. Fridge controls did not function properly. Dressing area was open to bed rooms no privacy except a pull curtain. Bathroom very small. Power flush toilet very, very noisy. We could hear every movement from room above. I would say the rooms are very outdated. Hotel was also somewhat disappointing. At check-in we were told our room was on the 1st floor when actually it was on the second. General Store does not open early, newspapers are not available until after 7:30 am. We visited the Scat Cat Club every evening. Selection of alcoholic beverages was disappointing, no Zinfandel wine for example. Had difficulty using Disney Dining Experience at the Bar. Bus transporation was located nearby and it was nice to be the first pick-up however bus made numerous pick-ups afterwards. Resort was located nicely and after first day we used are car. The pool area was nice, the boat to Downtown Disney was enjoyable, the nightly entertainment in the Scat Cat Club was exceptional which made the trip somewhat of a success. Next time we may stay off Disney Property.

Perfect Disney Getaway

Disney's Port Orleans is a fantastic hotel for those short get-aways. We asked for (and received) a corner room when we ... checked in. It was only a short walk to the bus transportation to the Disney Parks and also only a short walk to the riverside boat ride to Downtown Disney (how fun!). Clean room, very comfortable, great pool area for the kids. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying on Disney Property - great value for the $!

Family Fun at Disney hotel!
laura Aug 4, 2007
Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter hotel is our family's favorite when doing a Disney vacation. The rooms are ... consistently clean, with a separate area outside of the bathroom that is curtained off for privacy. There is plenty of shelving & clothing racks, bureaus, suitcase stands and a table & 2 chairs. The real bonus is a refrigerator and a coffe maker that we put to good use. Housekeeping was generous and quick to respond to our request for additional coffee supplies and cups. Each night when we returned from the parks, the washclothes were creatively folded into animal shapes. The pool offerd a water slide, fountains and very attentive lifeguards. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. We especially like this hotel because it offers a water shuttle to Downtown Disney. Even for the busy season in August, the busses were efficient and there when we needed them. The only downside for this family is that you are limited to Disney restaurant food, similiear to what is offered at the theme parks and that means, there is little variety and it all tastes the same.

Marc Aug 4, 2007
The Port Orleans - French Quarter was very convenient and very quiet compared to some of the other Disney properties. The ... walk to the transportation facilities was short, even from the outmost reaches of the property. The grounds were well kept, and the staff was friendly. We have stayed in almost all the Disney properties in Orlando and this one is a good value for the price.

the general disney atmosphere is great...i was just a little disappointed with the amenities of the room... there was a piece ... of sugar wrapper on the bathroom floor when we checked in...and it was still there when we left! the room was comfortable and was good for what we needed. oh yes, a $10 internet charge was also added... i have stayed at many less expensive places that had wireless or free dial-up...that would seem to be a perk that they could afford.

Internet service did not work/$10/day fee
Scott Apr 16, 2007
The internet service in our room did not work. The staff did fax a one page document and not charge me as the internet ... service did not work. It irks me that this hotel charged so much per night and insists on charging an additional $10 per day fee for access to internet service. There were food and drinks left in the in room refrigerator that we threw out ourselves. The food in the on-site cafeteria was reasonably priced.
