I was given a stinky room near loud residents that was missing a television in one of the bedrooms, got a different room with ... regular tube tv's and not a sign of a plasma. This is my second and last time staying there. The last time I stayed there I was given an incomplete room, and asked for another and they actually put me up in the same this year as last year. It must be their default room. Very Noisy and the grounds look like they arent a priority to the property.

A better weekend alternative.

Desert Tides seems to be a condominium complex that couldn't sell all its units. Great value for a summer weekend, but I was ... surprised that that price doesn't go down on weekdays. I was allowed to check-in 8 hours early for free! My unit didn't have a plasma TV, as listed. DT is a 7-minute walk from the Rio, Palms, and Gold Coast casino/resorts, so if I didn't want to park in the hot sun I left my car at the casino and walked "home".

Not so good
better luck next time Apr 28, 2009
The place was pretty bad. There are hotels that are just as dingy and horrible for much cheaper. There were no trash cans in ... the room, no phone, and no sheets, blankets or pillows for the pullout sofa. The pullout sofa mattress was ancient, so it was horrible to sleep on, even on the floor. The A/C didn't work, it was just a fan. We tried to get some linens and trash cans. We couldn't get ahold of anyone (at 10pm), using my cell phone and calling the front desk. The next morning we wanted to check out and go elsewhere. The sign above the lobby door said that Lobby Hours 6am - 11pm. We were there at 7am and the door was locked.

Upset Client Apr 23, 2009
I was told that there would be certain ameneties in the room, and they weren't there. When I went to ask the staff for them, ... the staff was not helpful. They said they would bring them to the room and they never did. There were no phones in the room so that we could call the front desk. I found a few baby cocaroaches in the master bathroom. There were holes in the walls, doors were broken, the paint in the bathtubs was peeling off.

Cory Nicholas Vegas visitor Apr 20, 2009
We visit Las Vegas a minium of once per year. We have stayed a numerous hotels and condos. The Desert Tides is one of the ... worse. The room was dirty and had stuff hanging from the furance intake. The room smelled of cigerette smoke. The carpet was so stained I was afraid to remove my shoes. The condos are next to the railroad tracks. The pull-out couch had no linen and when I asked about it, I was given the linen and pillows (minus the blanket) to carry back to the condo. The front desk stated they would send the blanket up. The blanket never arrived. The grounds are dirty and not well kept. I will never stay at this place again, It was not worth the money.

Dirty Room and Lousy A/C
Christy Jun 29, 2008
Save your money on this hotel and book somewhere else. The clean job was marginal at best with juice running down the wall ... and horribly stained carpets. Worse though was the air conditioning that sounded like a jet plane taking off and which never got the room temperature under 90 degrees. When we decided to leave after the first night the front desk person couldn't check us out early only a manager could do that. After 15 minutes of insisting that someone had to be able to do it we left. The manager did eventually call and straighten out the charges.

Good value for family
Marcelo Jun 22, 2008
This is good value for a family. We got there late but but check-in went well. We stayed at a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with living ... room and kitchen. Refrigerator, Stove/Oven, Dishwasher all in excellent working order.Living room, flat screen very nice. A few problems with the room such as no shade in one window and hot water shower control not working in the master bedroom. We got help in covering th window. The shower control wasn't fixed. Good kitchen, pots and pans and plates and related utensils provided. Very close to Palms,Rio, Vegas strip and related areas. Pool is good, kids had a good time.Parking is close

Alot of amenties for your money
louise May 27, 2008
I requested a secure area, because I traveled alone to Las Vegas, and I got a room upfront by the staff area. The security ... seemed good also hld ADP security systems installed in the condos. I had lot of amenities, like a washer/dryer, full frigerator, electric stove, microwave, coffeemaker, blender, utensils, pots/pans, dishes, glassware, you name it I had it. 2 TV's in my condo unit - 1 -42 plasma TV wide, and another smaller unit in the separate bedroom area. Beautiful unit - EXCEPT for one thing - THE BEDROOM CARPET - was very marked and dirty - a cream colored carpet with black marks all the over the bedroom - it was very disgusting looking carpet - I had to put towels on the bedroom carpet for me to want to put my feet down on that dirty marked up rug - what a shame. Because the unit was a A++++++++ with everything that a queen could possible want - EXCEPT FOR THE BEDROOM RUG - that was the only negative thing about the condo unit which I stayed in. Again - I had a leather sofa, glass table, all new appliances - I had everything fit for a queen - except the bedroom carpet - that looked like a couple of elephants went thru there with black paint.. Just horrible. - So I used bathroom towels to walk on in the bedroom - to cover the dirty ugly carpet. That's its - it was pretty brand new unit - with everything - except for the bedroom carpet - that really needs to get replaced badly!! Also - it has some noise to the unit - I don't know exactly where that noise came from - from bass music playing or what - but after the 1st day of it - I got used to it - and just fell asleep. The location was fine for me - I had a rental car - but you would definite need transportation to the strip area - not far away - but too far to walk it. You do need transportation. And do also bring your own soap - they do not provide that for you - and give you only 1 day of dish soap for the dishwasher, and 1 small bottle for dish washing - you will have to do that yourself - housekeeping does NOT clean up after you - you have to put your garbage out daily - and then they will clean that for you - but your room - you have to take care of it yourself - just like an apartment complex. IT WAS A VERY NICE STAY FOR ME - AND POSSIBLE WOULD RETURN THERE AGAIN. I give it a 8 1/2 score out of a 10... Not bad for the price - you have everything there, that you will NOT find in a hotel stay on the strip. It's just like having a apt in Vegas with all the amenties. I was happy and felt safe there.

Great Price!
Julie May 19, 2008
This hotel was a very good price for the money. Its not on the strip but across the street from the Rio. The first night ... we were there the air conditioners in the rooms didn't work. They credited us a night and put us in a functional room the next night. If you aren't going to be in your room very much...it's a good buy. It's also good if you are staying for a while and need a kitchen. The room was great. Similar to a one bedroom apartment.

Brown cold water
Brian May 4, 2008
Unfortunately the Las Vegas Cay Club (now called Desert Tides) was not a good experience. It took 30 minutes to check in - ... with no one ahead or behind us; and then we had to return to the front desk three times for a key that worked. The staff was less than helpful. It didn't get better as the evening wore on - we had brown cold water coming out of the tub facet. Needless to say my shower was cut short and I went for a swim in the freezing cold pool. The next day upon check out we told the desk clerk of the water issue and she said that the manager would have to deal with it so we waited around another 2 hours for the manager to come in and was treated poorly by her as we waited another 45 minutes to process the 50% discount. We never heard an apology for the extreme inconvenience. So...unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel, even though it could be quite nice with a little tender care, nicer staff who focused on customer service, and a better registration/check out process.

Great Hotel near the Strip
Diana Mar 9, 2008
The Las Vegas Cay Club was a lot nice than I expected. The outside does not leave much for impressions, however the inside ... was fabulous. We staid in the 3 bedroom 2 bath room unit and it was like staying in an apartment. It had granite countertops in the kitchen and bathroom, vaulted ceilings, a plasma TV, and the master bath had an extra large tub. The location was great for not being on the strip. It was right across the street from the Rio and the Palms so the strip was just over the freeway. I will definitely stay here again!

Great place off the Strip
Jeffrey Mar 3, 2008
Cay Club Las Vegas offered great rates for lots of space. Units were very roomy and had a full kitchen. Our one bedroom ... unit had a balcony, view was the front of the Rios. Unit was quiet and off the main road (Flamingo). Our only reservation was the tile floors needed to be cleaned better. It appeared that they were vacuumed or swept regularly, but needed mopped.
