I stayed at this hotel because it was the closest hotel to kanawha park. The park has concerts on Friday evenings during the ... summer. I like to be able to enjoy myself without worrying about driving and looking for parking spaces. Therefore, the location was perfect being one block away from the park. I can't wait to go back next summer. Plus, the staff was very friendly and they have breakfast even though it's not included but it was good for the $12.

Polite Staff, Bad Neighborhood

Our overall experience at the hotel was good. The bed was really comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and ... helpful. However, I would recommend that you pay the $10/night and park in the parking garage at the hotel. My girlfriend's sister parked her car on the street, because she was informed that you can park for free on the street on weekends, and had her car broken into one of the nights we stayed there. Also, some kids tripped the fire alarm and everyone had to evacuate the building at 2:00am. This is certainly not the hotel's fault (sounds more like a parenting issue to me), but it was nonetheless an inconvenience. As far as overall comfort and price goes though, the hotel was fine.

I was treated well while there, but when I booked the room it sounded like they had an airport shuttle. They do not do ... airport pickups, and it cost me $70 RT to get a cab. In town, they offered to do local shuttles, but they limited it to 2 miles, which is problematic in that they are 3 miles from key sites.

I visited a family member that is sick, close by, and the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful. I visit this hotel every 6 ... weeks and would not change a thing. The restaurant staff are very helpful and the food is great! I would rate this hotel for the price, an awesome choice.

great hotel but avoid the 12th floor

we wanted a hotel that was conveniently located for travel to various areas of town and this was the best site for us to go ... south, west, and east without using a lot of gas and wasted time in traffic. We asked for a smoking room which were all located on the 12 fl. However, it was the noisy floor in the hotel and we had a very restless night, had to call the desk 3 times and thought about calling police. The desk mgr and hotel staff tried to take care of the problem guest and we were given 2 breakfast buffets for our discomfort. We thank them for the courtesy.

The Crowne PLaza , Richmond Downtown , is a hotel where you can expect great service. All the staff were very kind, and ... attentive to the patrons, often asking if everything ok, whether you were in need of help, etc. They paid attention to each and every person, and went above and beyond to let each guest know that they were appreciated.

A great night's sleep

The Crown Plaza Downtown has a very friendly and helpful staff which made checking in/out and service a breeze. The room ... seemed much larger than most with a great view of the Shockoe Bottoms and a sense being secluded from other guests. On the bed was provided sleeping masks, a curtain clip, a white noise CD and lavender linen spray in a small attractive bag with instructions to use to get a great night's rest. We used the things provided and had the best night's sleep I've had in any hotel stay. The restaurant's selection for dinner is great and the breakfast buffet is supurb in taste, presentation and price. Warning: the only downfall to this hotel is that the parking lot is extremely small and under construction currently, so large vehicles beware! Even with this consideration, I highly recommend staying in this hotel for a visit to a very beautiful city.

There is a great Irish pub called SinE a couple of blocks from the hotel that provides a great alternative to other restaurants downtown that can be incredibly expensive. SinE has a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with friendly waiting staff. We recommend the Pecan Chicken and the Potato Soup. Delicious!!!
