Large room for the price
cbc Sep 14, 2009
Overall, a very good experience. I needed to check in early and they easily accommodated me, upgrading me to a suite. The ... suite was spacious with a good workspace set up (desk, comfortable office chair) in the living room. Bed was comfortable and the view was great. May be a little sketchy walking alone at night from the light and power district a few blocks away. Only complaint was late housekeeping service (4pm) when I really wanted to come back and rest earlier (2pm).

Power and light district is only a few blocks away. Lot of restaurants and a free concert (so people sitting outside at the bars and restaurants could listen) the night I was there.

Great location
Kay Aug 13, 2009
This hotel is very comfortable and within walking distance to the Sprint Center and Power and Light District which was ... perfect for our bachelorette party. The only negative was they have a parking garage for guests that charges $13, but it was full and we had to drive around for half an hour in order to find a spot. They were supposed to have valet parking, but we did not see one.

There were many restaurants to choose from downtown. We relaxed, had a drink and enjoyed the live entertainment. We felt safe walking around. Country Club Plaza was only a few minutes away for great shopping. We would have indulged in the half price apps and drinks offered at the hotel bar if we were staying longer.

Kansas City concert getaway
Knute Jul 23, 2009
Hotel location was great for our trip. At check in, front desk was slow, then when we get room keys, to the top floor, the ... room was already occupied. We called front desk, after 15 minutes, they sent someone with keys to another room. He handed me the key cards and left immedietly. He did not tell us we were on another floor, nor did he assist us in any way. Other than this service , the hotel was fine.

Overnight Trip

We were welcomed by a knowledgeable and courteous front desk clerk and were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade upon ... arrival. The on site parking was convenient and safe. The hotel was within walking distance to downtown restaurants. The Starbucks on site was a plus. The only downfall was that the pool was not in a prime location for afternoon sun as the building casted a shadow. Checkout was a breeze.

Great Location but A bit Overpriced
IndyMo Jun 15, 2009
We enjoyed the location in the Power & Light District, but the hotel itself was disappointing. Clearly under a major ... renovation, it did not smell clean and several floors were completely gutted. Ice machines were out of service in 5 of the 10 floors we tried. The elevators closest to our room were service elevators and in terrible condition. The hotel garage cost $13 per night. The staff listened to complaints but did nothing to correct them. On the plus side, the hotel's shuttle service will take you wherever you'd like to go within reason and the driver was very nice and knowledgable.

Sugarland Trip
Jess Jun 8, 2009
We came to Kansas City to watch a concert at the Sprint Center. The rooms had been newly remodeled. The staff was very ... friendly. We were told that each person over the age of 21 would get 2 free drink tickets to the lounge that was on our floor. Well, the lounge didn't exist yet. So there weren't any free drink tickets. :-(

This hotel is definitely within walking distance to the Sprint Center. It's also within walking distance to the "Power & Light District" in Kansas City. This is between the hotel & the Sprint Center. Very fun! All kinds of bars surround this area. It's almost like a club outside.

Great place and exceptional value
Meghan May 31, 2009
For the most part, the hotel was very clean and well kept. It has the potential for 5 Star ratings, but in order for that to ... take place, they need to start with great customer service. The rooms were very accommodating with my only complaint being how cramped and tight spaced the bathroom was. The only negative part to the experience would have to be the absence of Valet Parking as their parking garage was too full and Guest Services. When I called in the afternoon to check to see if it would be alright for me and my guest to have a late check in, Sherry was very rude and short with me on the phone. When I later called back for directions, she was once again rude and impatient with me as I was not familiar with the area and wanted to clarify where it was located. Overall, the rooms were more well kept than the Hilton President but just lacked the 5 Star treatment from staff.

Bachelorette Party!
Bachelorette Party Participant May 31, 2009
I was there for a bachelorette party. The staff upgraded a couple rooms just so we could all stay in rooms next to each other ... which was perfect. We walked to the power and light district which was very close. Staff answered all questions and gave us information about where to go that night. I stayed at this same hotel 2 months ago for a conference and the only thing I would change is the parking situation. I didn't like having to park in the garage and pay.

Needs cleaning and renovation
Scott Aug 25, 2008
This hotel has a nice location but is badly in need of renovation. Better cleaning would be a start. The carpet in our room ... and the hallway was stained badly, the floor in the room was dirty. Defects in the wall coverings were present. In the exercise room, the weight machine was filthy- dust and hair on the equipment. The lobby was the best part as it was very clean and attractive. We had 3 bugs crawl across the floor, hate to imagine how many were there that we did not see. Bathroom did not appear clean- I tried to scrub the edge of the door and these marks were permanent. I would have left for another hotel if we had more time.

My review of Crowne Plaza Hotel KANSAS CITY DOWNTOWN
Donald Mar 8, 2008
The price is too high for the quality!? We were disappointed that now guests?have to pay $13.00 daily for parking!? The food, ... is also, way too expensive for the quality. We stay there because of the location---so close to the Municipal Auditorium.? Always before there has been a special rate for MIAA Basketball Tournament guests---not this year!
