Much better than I expected

I stayed there from last week from Sept 18 to Sept 20 (i.e. 3 days 2 nights) with 3 of my friends who are all exchange ... students in Mexico right now. Cause my friends just decided to go to Acapulco the day before and no one planned the accomodation, I looked it up on all the major traveling sites to find the best deal (i.e. I booked this hotel just 6 hours before check-in) and Orbitz is the only one which allows me to book right at the day of check-in. Okay, so after 5 hours of bus ride we came to the Estrella de Oro bus station in Acapulco. The taxi asked for a price of 70 peso from there to this hotel. Of course within 10 minutes we get there and we know it's a rip off. If anyone of you is going there, don't pay more than 40 peso for the cap! (coz when we took a taxi from KFC to the bus station it is only 20 peso for the 4 of us) Back to the topic. The hotel looks really special (as you can see from the picture online) and the room is soooooooooo spacious and super clean^^ I am always worried about being assigned a room with dirt or of any defects but I must say that I appreciate this hotel so much...Even though it's stated in Orbitz that this is a room with partial view, oh man when I stepped into the balcony I almost screamed. IT IS A ROOM WITH MORE THAN 90 degree view of the Acapulco Bay. And I only paid $68 USD for a double room. Besides, the cleaning ladies do the cleaning quite often, about two to three times a day. PLUS, I LOVE THE POOL!!!! Acapulco Bay is right next to the swimming pool!!! So my conclusion is I love this hotel. And next time when I go to Acapulco again I will still choose the same hotel.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Acapulco is a fantastic property situated near everything you ever wanted to see and do. The hotel ... inteslf is a real gem. Situated on Acapulco Bay right on the beach you can swim, jet ski, parasail and/or ride banana boats. The hotel has four swimming pools with bar and restaurant service. There is a separate adult pool area (Club Oasis)with four private swimming pools with leather covered cushions and beach umbrellas. Every room has an outstanding view of Acapulco Bay. Anywhere you want to dine or shop are all within a short level walk of the hotel. There are two shopping malls (with movie theaters) a couple blocks east and west of the hotel. You're right in the heart of Acapulco with restaurants in every direction. I recommend El Zorrito for great, fresh made Mexican specialties in a relaxed open-air setting. There are multiple street vendors and artisan markets (one right across the street but I prefer the Diana Artisan Market just two blocks east of the hotel). There are also two supermarkets within walking distance and a hospital just one block away should anything happen. The only problems we encountered were the noise on weekend nights and we were not pleased with our maid. Otherwise the Crowne Plaza is the best hotel in Acapulco.

The location is great. You can walk out of the hotel and there are restaurants, stores and malls galore. Clubs are 90 pesos to ... get to. The beach was nice, but be prepared to be harassed by vendors continously. The rooms were clean and staff friendly but the beds are hard as a rock! Also, the bathrooms are quite disgusting, and smell like a sewar.

Paladium and Mandara are absolutely beautiful clubs with wall to wall view of Acapulco. Not too expensive and the drive from the hotle was about 10-15 minutes even with all the traffic going on.

This hotel is located in the heart of Acapulco. Most rooms have a great view of the Ocean. The hotel is ocean front which ... allows you to experience everything going on at the beach and in nearby clubs. The view was spectacular! we had two balconies in a 1 king size bed room. It was incredible for the price. We had trouble with the towel service...at one point they couldnt get us clean towels for over an hour. Overall...it was a good hotel.

Jackie Dela Apr 22, 2009
While our stay at the hotel was short, it was pleasant. Upon arrival and check-in, it took the front desk clerk about 10 ... minutes, and 1 personal phone call, to get us our room. Once he finally got off of the phone, we got our keys and went upstairs. Our room had not yet been cleaned from the previous guests, but within about 15 minutes, housekeeping was there. One of our roomw did not have a clock, and the televisions had been "locked" to not change the language to English - the tv's were nice, new plasma's! The front desk and other staff does not speak English - luckily my husband speaks Spanish and was able to get just about everything we needed.

Easter at the Crowne Plaza
Eve Apr 22, 2009
Well, as soon as we arrived, the bell staff took our suitcases without asking whether we needed their help. They were going ... to bring them up to our room after we had checked in. We have pulley suitcases so this was not necessary. I understand that they are trying to be helpful and that this is perhaps how they make their tips but asking would be more appropriate. The first room we were allotted was a bit run down. The lock on the main door was always sticking when we were trying to enter and took a hard shove to get it to open. The lock on the balcony door was also not very good. This room also had a door that adjoined another. I don't know if this was the reason but it (the room) was not very soundproof and we heard a lot from the occupants next door. On the second night, we awoke to a screaming child and shouting parents. Earlier in the evening, there had been quite a racket coming from upstairs. Sounded like someone was tap dancing. We advised the staff and they assigned us another room which was in much better repair - doors worked better and it seemed cleaner. It was also much quieter. This made our stay much better. After speaking with other people, we came to understand that Easter is the biggest holiday in Mexico and also that people residing in other parts of Mexico come to Acapulco for their holidays. Overall, the staff is what we valued most about the hotel. They were always friendly and willing to assist in any way. The location is also pretty good - especially with it's views of the ocean. The Crowne Plaza is a good hotel but does need some updating.

The room was clean and spacious but looks a bit outdated, so does the gym which has old equipment, the televisions are old ... and the ocean front needs to be repainted. The service was great very friendly staff who keep the hotel very clean and gives good service. In my opinion the hotel needs a face lift.

Reception desk personnel very nice, long lines to check in , easy check out. Able to change US at desk. Loud BOOM BOOM ... music every night until midnight. Adult pool was closed entire trip, pools crowed. People trying to open room door at all hours. Screaming kids next door, then drunk gays screaming. Free HBO and English speaking TV with CNN, and Fox news! Food mediocre , outrageous price for buffet $20.00, not fancy food. Changed $10.00 a day to park car at hotel. Nice silver shop in stores front of hotel with quality and great prices. The air conditioning worked well in room. Most people were nice. Missed my first day of work due to E. Coli infection. There are nicer places to go for the money and I can feel safe.

Nice Hotel
David Feb 4, 2008
The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Acapulco is just fine. After reading the reviews, I was kind of nervous about picking the Crowne ... Plaza as the hotel where I would be staying in Acapulco. After arriving my fears were calmed. Frankly, all of the reviews that I've seen about Crowne Plaza Acapulco are true. This Crowne Plaza really isn't as nice as the other Crowne Plaza's I've stayed at. However, it is still good. I found the staff to be good and the rooms to be above average. The location is in the middle of the Hotel Zone which makes it easy to walk from one end to the next. One bit of concern....The beach is quite nice except for the under-toe. I would strongly recommend against swimming in the water if you have small children or aren't a good swimmer. The under-toe is one of the strongest I've ever seen. I'm 215 lbs and I fell over twice trying to get out of the water.

Don't use the internet at the hotel. If you go to the shopping center a dozen yards away, you will find it to be a lot cheaper. At the hotel they charge $4.00USD for 1/2 hour. At the shopping center it goes for $1.50USD for one hour.

Daniel Nov 23, 2007
My stay at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Acapulco was great. I liked the fact that all rooms have balcony and ocean view, which is ... a plus. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and well kept. The staff were great trying to help us in every way possible to make our stay a pleasent one. The location of the hotel was very good also. The hotel is right in the middle of the whole bay area of Acapulco so everything was very close to the hotel. The one thing I did not like was that the beach was not private. As a matter of fact I think none of the beaches of Acapulco are private. You have locals trying to sell you stuff, people walking by, etc. It would just be better if the beach was private for the hotel use only.

Jonathan May 20, 2007
The hotel is OK nothing exciting at all. Looks great on the exterior but leaves much to be desired on the interior. The staff ... is very friendly as long as they are in a position to get a tip. If they are not expecting a tip then they don't try too hard to satisfy you. Also, every room does not have a great view of the beach. Quite a few have a bad view of the hotel next door. The rooms have much do be desired and are not that well kept. Don?t choose this hotel if you are planning a special weekend getaway you will not be satisfied.
