Great Place For Older Adults Visiting.
cheapscape Nov 17, 2009
A little dirty for family. Great for adults looking for a cheap place stay for several days. I stayed there for a week and I ... enjoyed every minute even more after the internet in the room started working. I would stay there again, but not with my family. I had to extend my stay because of a family illness and the hotel management gave me a great rate. Floor and furniture had stains. Great breakfast.

The employees here were extremely nice and helpfull!!! They let us check in 6 hrs early and check out 2 hrs late. If you ... have ever visited St. Augustine you know there are no Ritz Carltons there. This hotel is friendly, convenient, and good priced. You can if you like walk to a good number of attractions. Also if your going to St. Augustine for ghost tours (GO AHEAD AND ADMIT IT). This hotel IS NOT on any of the "haunted" lists that I have ever seen.

We visit two or three times a year and this was our first at the County Inn. We were able to enjoy the tours and still go ... where we wanted. We shopped, enoyed the beach, but found that we could do everything we wanted for your hotel. We found your staff to have great personal care for their guests. This was our most enjoyable trip to date. Thanks

I was disappointed that the internet was not accessible from the room. There was no soap in the room on day one , second day ... upon return from tour we did receive toiletries. A live bug was spotted in the bathroom on day two. It was very difficult to sleep due the the loud noise from AC.

St. Augustine was great. I'll go back. Maybe when the bridge is finished. If you don't care about history, stay away; this place is all about history. Loved the Flagler College (Ponce de Leon Hotel) tour and Old Jail was fun. Nighttime lighthouse tour was way overpriced for what you get; climb the light in the daytime, but in the summer, go early. They close the tower if there's lightning anywhere nearby.

Perfect for a couples "get away"
Our 10 year anniversary Aug 4, 2009
St. Augustine is awesome, rich in history, events, shopping, transportation and scenery. The Train trolley is the way to see ... the city, it stops at 22 locations and you can get on and off as often as you like and the pass is good for 3 days. For the couples....the Pub Crawl was fantastic...5 pubs, a walking history tour and limited to 7 couples...a great way to meet folks. Food is great (no corporate food) and of course many shops to spent $$$ (maybe too many). The fountain of youth, the trolley tour, a must see. Flagler College, museums and churches are breathtaking. The room was clean and roomy the towels changed daily and the room made every morning; their continental breakfast is as adequate as anyone else's, the staff friendly. The pool&&&well there really isn't one. We are glad to have saved over 100 dollars a night over any of the rooms you'd normally think were better looking on line and boast "in the old district"&only a mile from the shopping and tours&..the Trolley stops within walking distance&and safe and quiet.

While not directly in the "Old Town" section, the shuttle for the trolley is summoned in minutes. The lack of three meal ... restaurants in the vicinity could be difficult for those who like to walk to their meals. The musty smell in the room was the biggest negative aspect to the stay. The desk clerks were very informative and always helpful.

Check in time was 3pm, my boyfriend and I showed up at 2:45 and the room wasn't ready. What did 15 minutes change? I have no ... idea. The fitness room was lame. It had two treadmills and a bike. The business room is more like a computer room, 1 solitary computer. The staff was nice, they took pictures of us in the hotel room. The center piece that lead upstairs was gorgeous. The waffle maker was tricky to get just right, but breakfast was nice. The bathroom and shower was big and spacious, so was the room. The bed was very comfy =) We came back to a clean, made up bed, and plenty of towels each day. Be up and early! Breakfast ends before 11am!

Hotel was listed as downtown, but was on the outskirts. It is fine if you want to use one of the sightseeing companies, but ... we were hoping to be able to walk to at least some things and that wasn't really possible. It also had a pretty meager fitness room with two treadmills and a bike.

Wow. We were on a two week road trip (first one in a while, and without any kids). We went ahead and booked the King room in ... a Historic town as an overnight on our way to our ultimate destination. We were absolutely not dissapointed in the least. I was immaculately clean throughout. And the King bed, linens, towels, PILLOWS, were crisp/ clean/ comfortable. Can't express enough what a relief it was to arrive and find exactly what I wanted at such a reasonable price. Beautiful City.

Old-town-trolley tours has a 3 day pass, and, will pick you up at the hotel. It runs from about 9 to 5. A parking garage is about a mile from the hotel. Either one is necessary because of limited parking in downtown area; which is less than 1 mile square.

Ready to retire. May 2, 2009
We had taken this trip to start planning location for retirement. Liked the location to old St Augustine, excellent choices ... of places to eat on all budgets. Easy short access to two beaches with bath houses available. Pricing for hotel and trip was appropriate. Enjoyed all of the site seeing. Could see traffic problems with high season. Would definitely visit here again, but would not relocate here. Anastasia Island was a good possibility, but again would find traffic problems during season.

Hotel is a little far from the historic downtown, but local tour trams will send someone to pick you up. Not near many ... restaurants. But still a good place to stay if you're price conscious. Rooms were OK, clean but showing some wear. Free breakfast was enough for us.
Traveler type: Couples
Historic areas will take several days to see everything. Break it up by areas and do some each day. The tour trams are a good idea for the first day to get the lay of the land. After that, I'd park at the municipal garage; the trams take too long to get a few blocks (because of their route), and it's easier to walk from the garage/visitor center.
