Clean rooms, slightly above average breakfast, nice pool area (that we did not take advantage of), lame excuse for a parking ... fee - we estimate the hotel (and parking lot) was 25-33% full and hotel staff didn't even bother to have "required" parking permits available to post in car.

Ok for the price
Russ Oct 26, 2009
I traveled to San Diego to meet my son coming back with the heroes of the USS Reagan (CVN-76) task force. I was not ... impressed with this hotel in that they are really an "outside entrance" hotel with all the doors pointing in to the courtyard. The property is older but clean. I was not accustomed to paying for parking, but thisis aparently the custom in San Diego. The only other negative was that the coffee maker died during ou stay and it took 3 calls plus a visit to the front desk to replace it. On the plus side, the price with a rental car was FANTASTIC.

a nice simple hotel
Broncos Rule Oct 21, 2009
We went to San Diego to watch a football game. The Hotel is located close to Qualcomm which was nice. The hotel was ok, it ... was a little noisy at times but overall an ok place to sleep. Wish the breakfast was a little better. Also staff was not knowledgeable about the area it would have been nice to use a computer in the lobby area to find local destinations but there was not one.
Traveler type: Couples
Have everything you want to do planned because there is not a community computer you can use to find things to do. Also I would suggest renting a car because there is not anything really close by.

Great if you have transportation
Trudy Super Mom Oct 10, 2009
I felt that this would have been the perfect hotel if they had a shuttle to the area attractions (like most of the ... neighboring hotels in the area). We were without a car and relied on public transportation and taxis which really added up. The breakfast bar in the morning was a nice touch and overall a good atmosphere (the pool seems great for kids). I would only recommend this hotel to people who come with their own transportation.

There is a trolley station several blocks away from this hotel which helped to save a lot of money. This was the easiest way to get to Old Town, to the Harbor and to other attractions.

Clean, well located, friendly staff
Stan Sep 23, 2009
We were very happy with this hotel. The staff was extremely proffesional and friendly. The rooms were clean and the ... bedding/linens/towels were quite luxurious. They provide a pretty good breakfast with cereals, toast/bagels/muffins, sausages & eggs, fruits and juice/coffee/tea. It's not a gourmet breakfast but it's far, far better than you'll find in other hotels. The rooms are split into suites where one half is the bedroom and the other half a sitting area with a sleeper couch/desk/TV and they are seperated with sliding glass doors. It would be ideal for families or friends travelling together as it provides two distinct sleeping areas but we found we made little use of the sitting room and would have preffered a larger bedroom...but that's just being picky as I am sure this set up works very well for many travelers. The location is great. Just off the freeway & centrally located making access to outlying areas quick and easy.

Parking is 12.00 per day in the hotel parking lot. Some parking is available on the street right in front of the hotel. It's worth seeing if you can grab one of those spots.

Family Traveler Aug 24, 2009
We came to San Diego on a family trip. Didn't really stay at the hotel much. Wouldn't really say room was a suite-just one ... regular room with divider. Needs updating. Breakfast so-so. Pool tiny for a hotel. Pool towels are as big as face towels. Only good thing is wasn't too pricey and good central location.

Not great, but not bad either
F7 Aug 24, 2009
Pros: Very tasty, fresh continental breakfast every day. Beds and pillows VERY comfy. Our "suite" had 2 TV's, one in kid ... room, one in adult room. Very convenient to freeways, malls/restaurants, In-n-Out Burger. Sea World and Downtown SD were short easy drives. Kids really liked the shallow pool. Cons: Cramped rooms. "Suite" was basically a standard size hotel room divided by an additional wall. But the A/C unit was located on the kid side and no ventilation on the other side--so the kids froze and we roasted! Only air circulation was a VERY loud fan at the head of our bed. Location on a frontage road with view of I-8 freeway, no view, no playground or park nearby. Great hotel if you want a place to crash between outings. But if you like to take walks in the evening or take the kids out to play, not so much.
Traveler type: Family
Lots of good restaurants in all price ranges right around the hotel or in the mall on the other side of the freeway. Kids loved Pei Wei--good noodles. There's an In-n-Out just east of the mall.

Nice Time
Happy Family Aug 11, 2009
My family and I flew in to celebrate our duagther's 11th Birthday. The room was small. Once you have your luggage in there ... is not much room to move. But the extra room with the sofa bed for our girls came in handy since they ran out of bunk beds. We did not spend much time in the rooms anyway. The complimentary breakfast came in at the right time. We would eat and go back to bed. Our TV had some problem but it ws replaced immediately. I do not have much to complain about but the size of the rooms. Don't let the pictures fool you. They don't look like the pictures but exceptable for the time we were there.

Adequate for our needs
Traveling family Aug 5, 2009
This hotel served its purpose. It was very close to Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, etc. It is not close to any of the public ... transportation options, so we found it necessary to rent a car. I highly recommend using the optional GPS the rental places offer; it made it so much easier to get around. We stayed in a king suite, which was quite small. The air conditioner was in the room with the pull out couch, so needed to be turned up high to cool the main bedroom area. Get an extra blanket for whomever uses the pull out - it got a little chilly. The rooms were clean, and the bathroom was large. We utilized the microwave and refrigerator after the first day. We discovered our first morning that the waffles we expected were only available on Saturday mornings. The options were cold cereal, pastries, toast, bagels, juice and coffee. We were disappointed in the offerings, and found if you didn't arrive early, you might find there isn't much left. There are several restaurants nearby, a mall, and a Target store. Quite a few restaurants are within walking distance. The pool area is nice, and very clean, with several chairs available. We had one experience with a few badly behaved and unattended children that made enjoying the pool difficult. We found this hotel to be suitable for what we had planned. It wasn't the best we've been to, but was certainly adequate.
