ok but old

Great location. This hotel was about 40 bucks cheaper than most hotels in a downtown location, but you get what you pay ... for. Next time I'll either stay further out of the city or pay up for a decent hotel. I'll give them credit for keeping it relatively clean, but just about every part of the building and the room seemed to be old and in need of replacement.

nice place if you don't mind old
wedding traveler 09 Sep 26, 2009
the hotel is well located but I really didn't like the musty old hotel smell. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom and the ... hair dryer in the room vibrated when I tried to use it. I immediately unplugged it for fear it would burn out. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Nice base camp for exploring Milwaukee
Chris Aug 27, 2009
I took three of my kids for a short (one day) visit to Milwaukee, just to see the city. On this kind of family vacation we ... like to walk the streets, get a feel for the place, and hang out where the vibes are good and there are things to do or see. The hotel location turned out to be ideal for this sort of exploration. Lake Michigan and the downtown landscape were both visible from our room, and the roof-top patio provided a great view. It was a 10 minute walk along the lakefront to the the Milwaukee Art Museum and Discovery World, where we spent the morning. From there we hit the streets of downtown, having lunch at the Milwaukee Public Market and checking out the riverfront that winds through downtown. We made our way back to the hotel mid-afternoon for a short break, then headed out again walking about 10 blocks north to Brady Street to shop and eat. (If you're not into that much walking it's a simple 5 minute drive from the hotel to the Brady Street area). The hotel itself was nothing special but met expectations. The room was clean, staff were helpful, check-in was easy, and the continental breakfast was fine. There is a swanky bar at street level, but I didn't try it out as this was getaway for me with the kids).

Wished it were better
Summerfester Jul 3, 2009
A little over half a mile from Summerfest. In fairness to the mildew issue, I didn't say anything until checkout. I'm ... guessing they would have switched rooms for us if we requested it earlier, but we were in a hurry to get on our way.

Man at front desk was very helpful. I was lost getting to hotel, called and he directed me to the hotel. It was dark, late ... and not familiar with the area, so I was pleased that he was so kind.

Excellent service, excellent staff
Angela Jun 10, 2008
The Comfort Inn and Suites Lakeshore was an excellent Hotel. When I had trouble with noisy guests, they immediately talked ... to the guests. When it wasn't resolved immediately they upgraded my room and changed floors. It was so quiet and peaceful on the 5th floor. The housekeeping staff was excellent and very prompt. It has an excellent location-2 blocks from Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee Art Museum, and is within walking distance of everything downtown including the river walk and brewery tours. The rooms were small, the bathroom barely big enough to turn around in, the closet door and bathroom door couldn't be opened at the same time. You had to wait 3 to 5 hours for housekeeping to respond, and many times they didn't come at all. Stay at Comfort Inn next time. You won't be sorry.

Great Waterfront Location
Chad May 7, 2008
The staff is very friendly and helpful. All seem willing to go the extra mile to make sure of comfort. The hotel's ... internet option consistently underperformed, as signal was either weak or non-existent. There are only two dining options within walking distance. However, delightful walks along Lake Michigan are only a short distance away.

Thank goodness I did not ...
Stacy Jul 29, 2007
Thank goodness I did not need a sofabed and was not relying on the presence of one. There wasn't one. There was only a ... wicker loveseat and chair in addition to another chair and the king-size bed. However, for the amount of money I was charged for the room, there should have been a sofabed. Also, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall. In general, the room just looked shabby. Not $40-a-day-flophouse-shabby, but shabby nonetheless. There was a jacuzzi tub that worked. However, the timer did not work properly. The hotel was close to the venue. I didn't see any vermin. I did book last minute on the weekend of German Fest. Still, it was a bit disappointing and not a ring endorsement for the Comfort Inn & Suites Chain.

Great location and rooms
David May 28, 2007
This hotel is in a great location, between Lake Michigan and downtown, both within walking distance. The room was clean and ... the decor was modern. I paid extra for a lake view room which was worth it so I could like from my bed and see the beautiful lake. The free breakfast is great, including waffles. Lots of great restaurants close. Its in a safe neighborhood. There's free wifi. My only complaint was that the shower had a very weak stream of water. Everything else was great.
