In front of Pier House hotel in Duval St and Front St you could see the best sunset in Key West and drink some margaritas or piņas coladas.

Not quite what we expected...
Wedding Guest Disaster Jun 28, 2009
The pictures are nothing like the hotel, except for the free breakfast, which was good. After our arrival, we went straight ... to our room and noticed that the bed size wasn't what we booked. I called the front desk and explained that there must have been a mistake because originally we booked a queen and we got checked into a full. The man told me that the beds are the same full/queen and I further explained how there were different rates when I booked my stay and the man just kept telling me there was no difference. So I just hung up and decided to call orbitz in the morning. We left our room for a few hours and came back to a warm room. I called the front desk and was told the maintenance guy would come look at it. The a/c was blowing cold air, but not cooling the room. I know this because I was just in my friends room which was like an ice box. Well, the guy told me that there was nothing he could do because these a/c units aren't efficient enough to cool the room and I should keep my door shut, but I guess he seem to forget me just telling him we've been out of our room for the past 8 hours. So I call back down to the front desk and ask to be moved. I was told that he needs to talk to the maintenance guy first to see the issue. I get a call back from the front desk and they proceed to tell me the only room available is next door at the Radisson. I decide to talk to my wife and see what to do, during this the maintenance guy had to come back to get a temperature reading and over hears our conversation. He gets up and says he'll be right back to check to see if there is a spare a/c unit. Sure enough they find one and replaces the unit and it begins to cool the room off in no time, but I didn't appreciate the attitude during this process and best of all he pulls the door shut. I call orbitz in the morning to explain the room/bed issue and sure enough we had to switch rooms because we were checked into a full and not a queen. The hotel staff wasn't very friendly, the walls are thin so you hear everything, the doors slam shut, noisy guests, it's like a 10 min cab/car ride to duval street, the pool area was ok, the pool itself seemed like it needed a good scrub, the beds are ok, except the first room we were in they sunk in the middle, the rooms are a nice size, a little bit of an musty smell, the bathrooms were cleaned, but you can tell they definitely have been used quite a bit, hot water, but leaky shower...basically, you're getting what you pay for.

Comfort Inn?
pkoutprncss May 7, 2009
We were there for my son's wedding. I knew we wouldn't be spending much time in the room, so an inexpensive hotel seemed ... like a good idea. The rooms looked nice online and the reviews were pretty good. However, the room was dingy and musty smelling. The tub was worn and didn't feel clean. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work, making it next to impossible to get dry after a shower. My skin was so slick even 20 minutes after my shower, I couldn't even apply make-up for the wedding ceremony! The steps in the pool were covered in algae. I didn't even get to enjoy a refreshing dip. I walk with a cane and can't just jump in because of back problems. I was not walking down those nasty steps to get in the pool though; no matter how hot it was!!!

The room was very attractive and clean. We were quite pleased. We could have saved money by using their breakfast but opted ... instead to go to a local establishment that had been recommended to us. They did have a good breakfast selection and is a good additional value for the traveler that they offer it. We would definitely stay here again!

Very Nice Experience
David Apr 24, 2007
Off the beaten track, very close to the airport. Stayed closer to Duval on our last visit, and wanted to see the other ... side of the island. A friendly, helpful staff. Clean well stocked room, and a very abundant continental breakfast (make you own waffles). Nice size pool, plenty of seating, and towels in the cubbard by the stairs, if you want to keep yours dry for the trip home. But also coin washer / dryer near the soda and ice machines, if you prefer your own.
