Everything was very nice until the day I checked out and they said they had to charge me for parking. Thats when I asked ... where am I suppose to park when Im paying for a room here. They replied that everyone has to pay. Thats crazy you cant even park on the street in front of the hotel. Very upset about that. For the money it costs to park I could of just stayed at a better place with free parking.

Satisfied
Kay Aug 25, 2009
For the price I paid for this hotel, I was very satisfied. The rooms were pretty clean and the area seemed safe. The ... cleaning staff stayed out of the room when the "do not disturb" sign was up (which isn't the case at every hotel), and they came to clean when I asked them to. The rooms had thin walls, so it might be difficult to sleep for those who are light sleepers or who sleep at odd hours. The $5.00 a night parking pass fee seemed unecessary - and I'm not even sure anyone without the pass displayed got towed. The breakfast was nice to have, and the free wi-fi was easy to access with a good connection. Would stay there again based on what you get for the price.

Lauren Aug 19, 2009
The location of this hotel cannot be beat. We were within 10 minutes of the zoo and 15 minutes from the beach. Also, just ... down the street is local shopping. i.e., target and ralphs. The cleaning staff was great. If they knocked while we were there they just came back after we had left. The parking is ideal, right in front of your door. Parking is $5 a night, which is good compared to other places in san diego. Free coffee in the lobby 24/7 which was nice. The breakfast was awfully crowded but who cares its free? You can bring the food back to your room. The price was unbeatable. We did not swim while we were there.

Great location, nice rooms
Robie Aug 3, 2009
This is a very nice hotel. I'm not sure why you would expect more from this type of hotel. The rooms are clean and ... comfortable. I have read comments about the free breakfast being bad or crowded. What do you expect there are alot of people that stay in this hotel and they eat too. So for the money I say it was great and I would recommend this hotel to my friends. My only problem is that they make you pay $5.00 a day to park and that the parking spaces are so small that you have to back up to get people in the car because the other cars are so close to your doors. So get rid of the fees and I would give you 5 stars.

Tiniest room on the planet
World Traveler (usually on a budget) Jul 14, 2009
First, make sure you know which Comfort Inn this is. There's a much nicer one on Hotel Circle North. 1. The sign said "Rooms ... starting at $99". I had the smallest single room I have ever seen-- and I travel a LOT, including overseas. It was $150. Preposterous. Front desk said the sign was incorrect but the manager hadn't changed it. (This is in violation of the law.) 2. I was lead to believe on the website that these were suites. Nope. TINY, one-bed rooms. (Mine was.) 3. Their "breakfast buffet" was a "carbohydrate buffet", absolutely jam packed with so many people and so loud that we couldn't stand it. No oatmeal, just cold cereals, some fruit, some mass-packaged, very average pastries, and hard boiled eggs. No thanks. Stayed three nights and never ate there. No way. Fine for families with lots of kids who don't care, but not grown-ups. And it was deafeningly loud, and nearly impossible to move around in because of the massive crowd. Terrible. 3. Lots of "questionable" types staying there (tattoos, missing teeth, lots of smoking cigarettes early morning-- make your own conclusions. Sorry to sound judgmental, but you should know this, esp, if you have kids.) This place is not for everyone. 4. Parking spaces-- if you can find one ($5 extra a night) are VERY close together. Be ready for door dings. And due to the clientele, I was concerned with break-ins. 5. Staff was nice and friendly. That's it. Won't be staying there again, not at half the price. Plenty of MUCH nicer hotels surrounding it.

Comfortable, clean stay
Chris Jul 6, 2009
This hotel was clean and had a great breakfast. My room was smaller, but I do believe they have larger ones available. ... However, if you are on a budget, and want to be close to alot of different attractions, I would recommend this hotel. It is nothing special, but it is affordable, and will get the job done. Think of it this way, how much time do you really spend in your hotel room when you are sightseeing in San Diego?
Traveler type: Couples
Rent a car. We were in San Diego for 4 days, 3 nights and went to about 1-2 attractions per day. Everything we went to was close to the hotel, but still we ended up speding almost 200 bucks in cab fare. This is just the nature of CA and can expect this no matter how close you stay to any attraction. Save money, get a car.

there are two comfort inns close here, on both sides of I-8. This one is the older one. Cons: Besides the parking fee ... ($5/night) the parking was very cramped. No business center, altho' you may use that facility for free at the Doubletree down the road. Pros:The staff was fine and the free breakfast average to good. The room was fine.

Convenient, but too small...
chachycharlie Jul 4, 2009
This comfort inn was not so comfortable. The room was just way too cramped. There was only about an 8 inch space between ... the end of the bed and the TV stand so you pretty much had to turn sideways to pass through or risk ripping your pants on the TV stand. My wife and I spent 3 nights there with our toddler. I wish we would have known the rooms were so small before we booked. I would have paid more for a little more space. We were also a little surprised to learn we had to pay $5 a night just to park in the parking lot. Shouldn't they just include this in the cost of the room? Come on... The location was convenient. Very close to Sea World and Mission Beach.
