Good location Bad service
Weary Traveler Nov 10, 2009
My reservation had been, "cancelled," [...] so took more than an hour to get checked in. Finally, I asked for the manager ... and she did the check-in. Aside from the initial staff person, the staff were friendly. The shower curtain needed to be replaced. The snack vending machine didn't work. No fruit at breakfast. Have to pay extra for fridge in room. Had a single cup coffee maker in room. The exit arm for the parking lot was broken.

Hotel was within comfortable walking distance to historic district and the Nat'l Park attractions. Very interesting. Had good weather and emjoyed the Reading Terminal Market and several other shopping areas with local foods.

Decent Budget Hotel in a great location
Jumping and Jiving in Philly Oct 27, 2009
First be prepared for $23/day parking and $1.50/day in-room safe charges. I don't know how they get away with the extra ... charge for the safe. Considering it is bolted to the floor, I would expect it to be a part of the room fee. Nonetheless, the hotel is in a GREAT location in the old part of town right off Market St. by the river. The I-95 highway is adjacent, so I asked for a room on the other side of the hotel. There was still a fair bit of noise, but the hotel is right in the heart of the old city, so I think it's to be expected. To minimize noise ask for a room as high up as possible on the river side. The view from my room was magnificent. At night I got to watch the river flow under the lights of the Benjamin Franklin bridge and in the morning the sunrise over the river was gorgeous. The hotel itself was clean. The beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly. The parking lot was safe with a guard on duty 24/7. The breakfast was bare-bones, but sufficient: cold cereal, yoghurt, fruit, juices, fresh waffles you cook yourself. Bottom line: a great budget hotel to lay your head for a few hours before you head out into a wonderful city.

To see a really cool part of the old city walk up to Race Ave and go under the highway overpasses. Take the steps up on the left and walk down the alleyway to see some extremely charming OLD alleyways and townhouses from days of yore.

I would stay here again
Jessica Rose Oct 27, 2009
I came here for a bachelorette party in Olde City. Although it wasn't IN the downtown, and the direct surrounding area wasn't ... very scenic, it was within walking distance/cheap cab ride ($5)to downtown. The rooms were clean and nice and the staff was friendly. The room was affordable, even last minute, and the complimentary breakfast was a plus. I would stay here again.

Pumpkin Oct 26, 2009
Granted, I have never worked in the hospitality business and I certainly do have my moods. But when I go to a hotel spending ... considerable money for just 2 stars, I still expect the cleaning personnel to not be upset when I ask them to come back later to clean up my room. The front desk lady was nice though.

We enjoyed our proximity to Old City Philadelphia and all of the historical sites. The shuttle service was very convenient ... and the driver was friendly. Our room was clean. The continental breakfast was sufficient and the hotel bar was nice. We were dissatisfied with the traffic noise. There was a lot of noise. A lot. A lot. A lot.

This hotel is located in a great spot for enjoying all that Philadelphia has to offer. Many of the historical sites are ... within walking distance. I loved the atmosphere of the area and felt comfortable even walking at night. Unfortunately, there is a train, highway, and evening hot spots close by that made it noisy at night.

Great Location for the price
Traveling Teacher Jul 5, 2009
The location and the price were very enticing, and my friends and I were not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and ... they provided a free shuttle service around the historic area. We had some trouble getting our room keys to work, but each time we asked for help from the desk they were very nice, gracious, and quick to help. Parking was pricey ($23 a day), and one of our beds was a little saggy, but I would recommend staying here anytime you visit Philadelphia on a budget.

Took our daughter on a trip to the zoo and aquarium, hotel was in a great location, however the service left a lot to be ... desired. Couldn't find our reservation, but the issue was resolved promptley! There was water damage on the ceiling of our room. We used the van transportation into town, and got there just fine, but when it was time to be picked up we called and were told the van was broken down. Called hotel to see if someone else could pick us up, but were told no one was available. Had to walk back with our two year old! Were disappointed that the hotel was unwilling to help!!! Probably would not stay there again!

This hotel was a good price and a very good location. It is a little walk to Penn's Landing, but if you don't mind the walking, they have very nice shops in that area.

The hotel held my security deposit because they said there was an impression in the wall. The only time we were even in the ... hotel was when we were sleeping, the rest of the time we were enjoying the city.
