Good Price, Bad Cleaning
Melissa Nov 17, 2009
While I enjoyed the convenient location of this hotel as well as the price, unfortunatly I think I will have to pay a little ... more and get a cleaner room at another hotel. The showers were moldy and there was something crumb-like all over one of the comforters, just as a couple examples.

Worst hotel I ever stayed in by far! I will NEVER use orbitz again and that is because orbitz charges $25.00 to cancel a ... reservation days before the reservation date. If I would have gone through the hotel directly...I would have paid the SAME PRICE!!! AND, I could have cancelled the reservation for NOTHING!!! ORBITZ SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! I will tell everyone I know not to use orbitz.

We were attending a high school graduation and the location was very convenient. The outside was not appealing, buy the ... lobby was attractive and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The rooms were okay in general. The bathroom sink had loose faucets and the toilet was noisy. I would stay again if on a one-night trip. Probably would not recommend to friends, especially traveling alone.

Clean, Comfortable, and a good Value
College Mom Jun 29, 2009
It was my third visit to VCU campus with my daughter and the previous two times we had not been happy with our hotel choice. ... Three was the charm because this hotel was clean (no smell)and they had a free complete breakfast - not just coffee and a muffin.

Perfect location
Juelz Jun 21, 2009
This hotel was perfect b/c its halfway from the heart of downtown and southside of richmond where all my friends live. There ... are plenty of resturants nearby and close to the james river. It has a crystal clear blue pool which is amazing. If you are worried about its location b/c its near downtown richmond and your not from richmond it has great security in the fact that the doors leading inside the hotel are all locked and you need your hotel key to get into the hotel and into your room and into the pool thats on the roof. Its great to have a pool on the roof b/c it creates more privacy. After all this hotel is on a busy road in downtown richmond that is west broad. It was the cleanest place and the cleanst pool i have ever been in, in awhile

Budget Hotel, don't expect the Ritz.
Stingy Traveler Jun 15, 2009
I was traveling on business, and wanted a location close to my meeting place. Didnt want anything fancy, just cheap. I got ... exactly what I was looking for. Everything worked, the bed was comfortable enough, so what more do you want? This isnt the place to take your girlfriend to impress her, but it would do if you need a place to stop for the night for you or maybe even for the budget-conscious family or scouting group. It's pretty convenient to I-95, and close enough to downtown if you want to drive in. Check the rates, figure out what you want.

Just fine, not great.
bdb Jun 14, 2009
The hotel was just ok. There was a sort of musty smell throughout. But the bed was very clean and comfortable. We were ... just in town for one night and didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel, for that it was fine. We didn't make it down to breakfast, but at check-in and later when our key didn't work the front desk staff was great. The pool is in the middle of the elevated parking lot, so not exactly relaxing, but kids seemed to be enjoying it regardless. It was a fine place, great location for us, easy to get to and from. The hotel itself was definitely old, but was all really needed.

Overall-Good
Ed Jun 9, 2009
Two things on the negative side; there were no coffee cups, or filters with the in-room coffee maker. The second was the ... smell. We went out and bought some Fabreeze to cancel it out. It wasn't a bad smell, just overpowering. Something else, we requested a handicapped room, and the room itself was fine, but it was located at the other end of the hotel from the elevator. That was a very long walk for someone with COPD!! On the other hand, the room was very clean and had a microwave, fridge, iron, coffeemaker and hairdryer.

Better than expected
Mid-twenties couple traveling with dog Jun 4, 2009
I couldn't have asked for a better location. It was within 5-10 minutes away from all of our planned destinations. There was ... always plenty of parking available. The only thing I would have changed was the availability of the pool. We stayed 2 nights and on the second day the weather was perfect for swimming but the pool wasn't ready until after 4 PM (it was supposed to open at 10AM). The last day we wanted to swim a little while before check-out but had to wait again for the pool to open. We took our dog with us on our trip and it was difficult to get our room cleaned at a reasonable time. We told housekeeping we would like to stay in the room to supervise the dog or would gladly leave the room with our dog so they could clean without being disturbed. We ended up wasting about 3 hours of our day waiting for them. They would come by and tell us they'd be back (this happened a few times). I felt as though we wasted nearly a day waiting for things to happen and would have liked to get that time back to spend more on vacation than waiting around. Other than that our service was excellent. My favorite part of breakfast was the waffles.

If you are bringing your dog along on vacation take a drive over to Stony Point Fashion Park (approx 10 min drive from hotel). You can take your dogs inside of the stores marked with "dogs welcome" stickers. Stop by the doggie bakery for some all natural dog friendly snacks.

Nice People, but really musty smell
Eileen May 8, 2009
This hotel is in the middle of a serious remodel. It is really musty smelling and the carpets smell like they were all ... smoking rooms two weeks ago. Breakfast was wonderful. The employees were all very nice, and the rooms were clean as far as it went. But it needs some serious remodeling. Really serious remodeling.
