Horrible Stay
Honest Person with no agenda Oct 4, 2009
The room smelled like a old sweaty locker room, It reminded me of the cheap hotels I would take one night stands when I was ... 20 years old. The carpets were full of stains and dirty. The tub had stains in it. No fridge no microwave. Check in was a horrible experience I drove 3hrs to get to hotel to be told that check in was at 3pm and that was that I got their at 1:15pm. When I came back at 3pm their were about 8 other people trying to check in with only one person helping at the counter. Luckily I spent most of my time out of the hotel. The hotel was about a 5 minute drive from all the action. Charleston was great but the Comfort Inn had nothing to contribute but a decent continental breakfast.

Down by where the horse carriage tours are is where all the action is at. You have the market for the day and the horse carriage tours and at night all the good bars and restaurants are with in walking distance.

Worst hotel I have stayed in Charleston. The toilet paper holder was falling out, the electrical outlet barely held a plug, ... elevators were old and took forever, hardly a continental breakfast, a dirty rag laid on the floor beside our table at breakfast, staff barely spoke to us, acted like we were bothering them..... Need I go on??? I do not recommend this hotel.

Rundown Dump

This was the worst hotel that I ever have stayed in. The location was terrible. It was in a marginally unsafe location. ... The place appeared rundown and in need of repairs. Th hotel upon arrival reeked of sewage, which never changed the entire stay. The elevator was so slow that one wondered if it was going to stop before we got to the floor. We were shocked to learn that there was no refridge or microwave in the room. The roomalso smelled but not as bad as the rest of the hotel. The staff was nice which was the only good thing to say about this visit. The location was not what we expected... Thi is the worst hotel ever.

Location and parking...horrible
greg May 27, 2008
To start off though, the staff at the Comfort Inn was great. My wife and I were able to check in early and the room was clean ... and they were helpful if we needed directions. The down side of this hotel is the location for one. Meaning, it's really close to downtown (5min) which is a PLUS but the hotel is in a low lying area so it floods in front of the hotel everytime it is hightide. So, if you don't have a SUV or van then you might get stuck in the flood. Another downside is the parking. There isn't enough parking spaces on the location so you were told to park under the highway next to the hotel. The area isn't lit up so I found it very dangerous to park there and plus you had some homeless people sleeping right next to your cars. I would recommend staying closer to downtown and spend the extra money.

Could have gotten better for the money
Jennifer Sep 24, 2007
We got to the hotel about an hour before check in and we had to wait. When i asked if our room was ready, they said yes and ... gave us the key. We went up to our room, went into the room and the bed was unmade and garbage still sitting out in the room (the room was not ready) when we approached one house keeper on the floor she was very friendly and said she would do the room as soon as she was done with the room she was working on. But we could put our luggage in there. When we approached another housekeeper she looked and me and said me no speak english One of the 2 elevators did not work the whole weekend what put a slowness in getting to our room and the lobby. Will not stay here again

when we first arrived, at 3:00 checkin time we were told that we could not check in for a little while our room was not ... ready. so, we had to wait after a long drive. the coffee pot is located in the bathroom. we did not like that. the condiments for the coffee had been opened. the only good thing about this hotel is that it was close to musc.

Ok for first visit
James Sep 15, 2007
The comfort Inn Charleston was alright for a first visit to Charleston. It is staffed by very friendly and helpful people. ... The location is not the best for those who wish to use public transportation which of course is not their fault, and it is some distance from most of the major attractions. That is the only reason that I would not recommend it to a friend. Over all our stay was not bad,as we spent most of our time trying to see all that we could within our limited time.

Debra Aug 22, 2007
The comfort Inn Charleston was located close to the hospital we were visiting. The is the best thing I can say about it. The ... room size and layout were fine. There was only luke warm water in the morning for showering. One elevator did not work the 2 days we were there. The other was broken half the time. Constantly waited or took the stairs. Everything needs updating. The staff was ok, nothing special. Ice machines were broken. Carpet was a little sticky, but overall the room was clean. Parking was easy.

Comfort Inn was an average hotel at best. However, the staff was excellent, very friendly and curteous. The room was large ... enough, just very old and semi comfortatble. The air conditioning was a bit dodgy. The bathroom was fine, clean and everything worked.

Although not right in downtown Charleston it is less than a five minute drive from virtually everything.
