The hotel is ideally situated near shops and pedestrian zones. Lots of police in the area provide a comforting sense of ... security. The hotel is nicely appointed and elegant. Staff was very professional, helpful and courteous. The American style breakfast buffet was excellent and included in the room price. The room and bathroom, although nicely appointed, were very small (nothing like the picture on their website!). The comfort of the bed was well below average for my taste (I prefer and expect plush soft beds when I stay at a quality hotel like this, especially for the price I am being charged for each night). The linens were clean and crisp. Towels were not soft and thick, but did the job. As a business traveler the free WIFI was useful and user friendly to access; however, the room had a stool and micro-desk that were woefully inadequate for doing work. The laptop basically takes up the whole desk and the chair is nothing more than a little stool with fancy fabric and some cushioning.

There are numerous inexpensive grills on Avenida Florida and Avenida Plaza near the hotel. I went to an expensive fancy grill and had a mediocre meal; I then went to the grills were the locals ate near the hotel and had a fabulous Argentina Parrillada at a very decent price. You gotta like beef to enjoy their cuisine.

The Claridge hotel was very comfortable, had a great, friendly, and helpful staff, and was in a nice location - close to ... shopping and several sights. We especially liked the large tavern/restaurant. Pool and fitness facilities were very good (spa services). Only real complaint was the traffic noise in our room. Otherwise, we enjoyed our visit and would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is in a great location for shopping and dining. Right off the main shopping/walking street. Also, close to the ... several Buenos Aires subway stations. The room are very small. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast each morning was outstanding. I was very disappointed that the pool was closed for repairs during our entire stay.

My review of Claridge Hotel
mike Apr 4, 2008
The Claridge was a very nice hotel. It had comfortable beds and bedding. The bathroom was small as indicated in the writeup ... but certainly acceptable. There was a desk and a table and a nice size closet. The swimming pool and sundeck were a bonus for us as the weather was lovely. The breakfast, included in the price was nicer than usual, with hot dishes as well as various pastries, breads, meats and even champagne! The location in in Microcentre which was not attractive to me. However, I would stay there again. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

In general, this was a GREAT choice for a quick lay over before boarding a cruise ship. While my husband & I don't usually ... prefer a city location, this was just right for the time we hsd. The hotel staff went out of their way to get our room ready, 4 hours early. After a little nap because of an all night flight, we wandered around Florida Street--just 1/2 block from the hotel. This very safe pedestrian street went on for miles in both directions loaded with all kinds of shops & eateries..Then we chose to have a very traditional upscale Argentine dinner only steps from the hotel. The complimentary hotel buffet breakfast the next morning was a plus! The only negative to the whole BA experience was the cab driver from hell that the hotel called for us to take to the pier.

My review of Claridge Hotel
Kathleen Sep 3, 2007
The room was good sized and so was the bathroom. It was clean and fairly comfortable although the furnishings were a bit worn ... and dated. My biggest problem with the room was the temperature. Even though I turned the AC to the coldest setting on high fan, it never cooled dowen. Luckily I was able to open the window. One big problem was that this was an adjoining room and the door between could be unlocked from either side providing absolutely no security! I put the luggage stand with all my things up against the door. As with the other room, this one was also very warm with no way to cool it down without opening the window. My biggest problem came at checkout when I was presented with a bill for 600 pesos! They said housekeeping had informed them that I had broken the desk glass in the room I was in. This charge was broken down into three separate charges, 380 for the glass, a charge for leather and one for polishing. I told them I never broke anything in either room and they said they would get housekeeping to confirm. About 15 minutes later the manager came back snd removed the charge from my bill. This really bothered me. First, when they noticed something was broken in that room they should have notified me right away. Second, the break down of the chasrges seemed very inflated to me. I think they were just trying to take advantage. My other problem came when I returned to pick my bags I had left with the bell hop. Although nothing appeared to be missing, it was obvious someone had gone through my bag. I know because of how it was originally packed. I know many people think this is a very convenient area to stay in but I found it to be very dirty and not that nice. Except for the shoppiing on Florida and a few good restaurants, there is nothing to see. My next trip I will stay in Recoleta or Palermo.

Charming old world hotel with modern conveniences
howard Sep 2, 2007
The hotel waas well situated near the Avenida Florida, which is the main pedestrian shopping area. It is primarily a ... commercial area and a little bit of a walk to the better restaurants and bars, but still fairly convenient. The rooms were a little on the smaller side but nice appointed and clean. The staff was most friendly and accomodating. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a central location and willing to walk some reasonable distances to explore the city.

I would definitely walk over to the Recoletta district as well as Puerto Madera for dining, shopping and night life. Also, the San Telmo is known for Tango Clubs as well as Irish pubs. La Boca and Palermo are also must see areas.

The Claridge deserves consideration by any traveler to Buenos Aires. It is an old-style British hotel superbly located near ... shopping, dining and the sights. My only quibble is that the business center is too small for the number of patrons. The waiters, the bellmen and desk staff were marvelous--and the two concierges are as good as they get. We had a large room that I think is the exception. But everything else, including the prices, says come back.

Please don't take offense but this hotel is for the older crowd. The rooms are stuffy and look like my grandmothers house ... looked.Which is fine for that retired bunch of women and their husbands who have learned to put up with over decorated floral stuff and the overpowering smell of perfume everywhere.....not for me though!

The Claridge Hotel is a very pleasant hotel to spend your holiday in Buenos Aires because of; The location, friendly and ... helpfull staff, the reception hall is well-appointed. Further more is the excelent breakfast with a great selection of food and fruit included in the hotel price. The restaurant offers 5 star lunches, and the bar area is quit and calm with every night entertaiment. The rooms where well maintained and clean and very quit, beds where confertable. Early evening there was a second room made up. The location was right around the corner of Avenida Florida which had a lot to offer not only the great variety of leather and shoe stores but also a lot of street entertainment and restaurants.

The nearby Avenida Florida does have a lot of street entertainment like tango dances, playing Andenian ( bambo fluit ) music, singing musicians and painters.

English speaking and a good location!
ronald Jul 21, 2007
I stayed here twice in July of 2007. It was great to be staying where I could communicate in English. The location is close ... to shopping on Florida street which is a pedestrian only area. The bathrooms are small but the 2 rooms I stayed in were clean, well maintained, and quiet. I tried the dining room one night and was quite pleased. They had cable TV in both Spanish and English. Complimentary internet access was also available in their business center. I developed a head cold while in Buenos Aires. The staff were very helpful and directed me to a neighborhood pharmacy so that I could buy a few supplies.

This hotel has one of the best Hotel Staff I have stayed in for Buenos Aires.... If you want to see a show, they can get you ... great tickets and arrange everything including getting you there and back. The breakfast, which comes with the room, is great and has a large variety and the service is terrific. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
