This place was only 2 blocks from the beach, so we spent a lot of time there. Right in the heart of Waikiki. Only 55 bucks a ... night for an ocean view room. You wont find value like this in Waikiki. The rooms are old and nothing to write home about, but just a great spot.

this hotel was budget and we knew that...but my bathroom door was crumbling...my drain was plugged with hair that was not ... ours...and the the tub was rusty...the seale was broken on the fridge so the food went bad...we thought we could grin and bare it, but upon getting sick and going to the hospital and having to actually spend time in this room....if the option to pay more money and stay in a nicer hotel came about...i would have taken it in a heartbeat.

Weekend Getaway Nov 6, 2009
We stayed there for three days and it was o.k. for a hotel, but it wasn't very clean and they only had rooms with two twin ... beds, you had to request to have a queen and I was traveling with my huband so one would think that would be standard. Also the front desk people were not very helpful they acted like you were an inconvenience because you had a question. And the towel bar fell off the wall and they didn't fix it they just put it in the corner and put our towels on the back of the toilet.

Our Stay At Castle Ocean Resort
1 of the Locals Oct 30, 2009
We've stayed at this hotel before. The first time we stayed there we won it for free, so of course it's not going to be the ... nicest hotel when it's free. This time when we stayed we had a really nice room, it was one of the studio rooms. Very spacious, although they come with two beds when all we needed was one. I just don't like the location of the hotel, when you actually find it, you think to yourself "is this really the place?". It's kind of in the back alley, and there is very limited parking. Also most hotel rooms once you close the door you can't hear everything going on in the hallways, but these doors were a little off the ground, maybe half an inch and we could hear everything down the hall. This is the hotel i didn't want to stay at again, and yet because I'd forgotten the name of it last time, i accidentally booked it again because it was pretty cheap.

I go to Hawaii once or twice a year and I always go to this hotel. It's an older building but the service is good without any ... fuss. The rooms are clean and simple and it is quiet and very safe. The location is great! Two blocks away from the beach and the Bus is right at the corner of the street to take you anywhere you want to go.

Clean, but things were a bit worn out
Local Living on the Mainland Sep 29, 2009
Hotel staff was very good, helpful, patient and pleasant since I was traveling with two senior citizens...one with a walker ... and the other with a quad cane. The rooms were large and clean, although the furnishings were simple, old-fashioned, and a bit worn out. The hotel had good handicap access from the parking lot to the main lobby. The problem with the parking lot is that it is not owned and operated by the hotel so it is expensive and not well staffed -- most times it was run by kids who would rather talk on their cell phones. Since I also went to visit 50+ family members, my family were also satisfied with the hotel accommodations and staff that several of them also decided to book the same hotel at the same time to maximize their visit with us. They said they would recommend that hotel to others, as well as return to that hotel whenever they needed a weekend getaway.

This hotel is a nightmare!!!
Zotya Sep 23, 2009
This is the worst place I've ever stayed in!!! Not only because the unfriendly staff, but the unfair treatment and poor ... service. Tho hotel doesn't even have real parking garage! It's a very stinky basement full of maintenance stuff, chairs, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc. From the "parking" you should take 2 flight of service stairs than go through 2 slamming doors (closed 10pm-6am) when you get to the lobby. Isn't this ridiculous??!! By the website the parking is free, but when you check in they let you know - it's $15! You have no choice but pay otherwise your car will be towed! It will be also towed if you take one of the staff's spot. At late night there is no empty guest spot anyways. Be very careful when you turn on the tv! There is no onscreen warning when you select pay-channel, so you can activate it pretty easily that you only find out at checking out. They were gonna charge $15.74 extra for nothing! This hotel is a rip-off! Stay away there are many better hotels for less price... :-(((

Get what you pay for
Hula Hips Sep 22, 2009
We have spent our last 3 summers on Oahu, visiting family and enjoying the weather. We have tried 3 different hotels. This ... time we chose cheaper so we could stay longer. And it worked out pretty well. We stayed in a room with a "kitchenette" for a week. We did not have hot water at all for the first 2 days. Someone fixed it, but the water was still a little slow to warm up. The "kitchenette" was super small, with a sink the size of a bucket, very diffiult to wash dihes. No dish rack to dry dishes eiher. The spatula melted a little while cooking because the temperture of the hot plate was hard to control. Front desk and maid service was great, room was always clean. Last four nights we stayed in a standard room. Hot water in that tower as much better. Liked that it had a frig. but wish there was a micro too. The only thing i didn't enjoy in this room was te noisy air conditioner. All in all, if we are short on money again and need our Hawaii fix, we would stay here again. It is a good "bang for your buck", "you get what you pay for". If you plan on spending lots of time in the room, you probably shoud pick a different hotel. If you are only going to shower and sleep in your room, then this is the hotel for you. If you can't handle any of the minor inconvienences I mentioned, you're a LITTLE SISSY, haha no, but this isn't the hotel for you.

Try Again
T Sep 17, 2009
Hotel as expected considering the price paid. What can I say? It was a place to sleep after a long day at the beach. We had ... a view of the city. The time we were there the parking was full so we had to park a couple blocks away, which was fine with us. The location is good. Only a couple of blocks from Waikiki beach, but then again almost anything is walking distance in Oahu. The staff was nice but had little knowledge and offered little or no recommendations of places to eat/go. Shower was a drag, the drain in the bathtub was slow and often got clogged, lots of rust around the tub. Cheap air conditioning, but working. Weird noise came from the sink from time to time when we were using it, might have been the plumbing. Hotel room offered a safe, but no key, what's the point? Insufficient plugs near the bed, we had a choice of either plugging in the light or the alarm clock, chose the light. When we left it looked like they were fixing the lobby, hopefully they will renovate the rooms as well. Until then, I will be willing to pay a little more for a more adequate place to stay.

Location was nice. The restaurant located in the hotel is really only worth eating breakfast at. It was quiet at night ... though, and had a view of the ocean. It is an older hotel, so did notice little things like slight mildew on bathroom ceiling. And sliding glass door shut behind us with a slam, which made it lock. We had to yell down to room below us for help. The room below us had the same issue with their sliding glass door- they should look into getting that fixed.

Good points: The rooms are reasonable clean. Staff are very friendly. Location is great, minutes walk to Waikiki beach. ABC ... Stores was right next to it, very convenient. The $ return is good. Improvement needed: The room at the lower block needs update; the sink and showers are wearing out. The price for safe rental was $15.day, too high. the hotel sign was too small and not illuminated. I had a hard time to find it in the night time while I was driving. Parking was limited, may be team up with Sunset Hotel Parking next door for a Guest rate.

We arrived at the hotel and checked in early, and the staff got us a room and room key promptly. We enjoy staying at the ... Castle Ocean resort because the location is perfect and the hotel is steps away from the beach. This hotel is great for those who do not plan to spend a lot of time in their room. The pool doesnt seem to be in good condition, but your in Waikiki so why would you need it. Stay at this hotel if you are on a budget and are looking to have a good time adventuring the island, but do not stay at this hotel if you consider yourself "picky" and tend to complain often.
