They treat everyone like a criminal
Kauai Kerry Nov 18, 2009
This hotels staff and security treats everyone like a criminal. I booked on [...]. When I arrived they wanted to put a $50 ... charge on my card for incidentals. My room was on the 39th floor and my card key quit working 4 times in one day. When I checked out they made me wait to verify if my credit card would be refunded. I smoke cigarettes and I went outside to smoke. Instead of throwing my butts on the ground out front I put them in my pocket and threw the butts away in the room trash can. When they inspected my room upon check-out, they accused me of smoking in the room. They took photographs of the trash can, then they proceeded to charge me $250 damage for smoking in the room. I told them the story of going outside then throwing my butts in the trash and they refused to believe me and continued to charge my credit card with an additional $200.00 on top of the $50.00 deposit. Be aware that they will treat you like a criminal too!

Needed a place to stay for one nite. Check in was delayed as reservation was not on the computer and desk person needed to ... clear with [...]. Unusual for desk to make us sign an extra damage waiver too. Refrigerator top was hot and was replaced by porter immediately. Nice guy. As we settled in, we noted room had no microwave. Porter said studio units do not provide it. That was not seen in ad. I would have not accepted a room without one. Threw away the take out food we bot earlier in the day since it could not be reheated. Unusual to have a tv and bed that was unacceptable also. Tv, small, color intermittent, worked off and on. Bed was a thin pad on a box spring. Very lumpy. Room was quiet for several hours until someone returned or moved in overhead. Loud clomping at 4 to 5am woke us up. We grinned and bore it because it was only for one nite. Nice staff but room was much below par. Musty odor. Window covering did not operate smoothly nor completely cover the window. View faced a hotel across the street, ewa side (west). Our stay ten years ago overlooked the canal was nice. We paid the lowest rate at that time. We checked out early.

My room was on the 41st floor and had windows facing south (ocean view) and west toward downtown Honolulu. The room was ... clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable. All of the utensils, dishes, etc were clean and the kitchette was spotless. The hike to Diamond Head is a "must-do". I took the bus to the park entrance, completed the hike and then walked back to the hotel. Each time I return to Honolulu I visit Pearl Harbor, for me, another "must-do". This was my fourth stay at Castle Maile Sky Court. I have stayed at other locations and always seem to return here due to location, facilities and great staff.

The hotel location was great. However the cleaning service was not great at all. My room was never completely cleaned, they ... would leave empty cups and boxes in the room after I mentioned it to the front desk several times. So I would have to say the cleaning service needs much improvement.

Relaxed ,billards, shopping, bar hoping, dancing, swimming and hiking. Vits restuarant personal were very rude and inconsiderate ... ,when I went bathroom they took my plate half full I conplain to manager instead called cops on me when I refuse to pay. I payed plus I added tip just show my character. This trip was horrible because Vits staff thought I was a local, I felt belittled and discriminated by staff for the kind of action they took toward my situation. I am deeply disturb by this ordeal.

Perfect room and friendly staff

I have always stayed at the Maile Sky Court Hotel when I visit friends in Oahu. It is a great location and the staff is very ... friendly and accomodating. The rooms are standard but they fit my needs. They are clean, comfortable and affordable. The only issue I had this visit was the bed would shake at times like an earthquake when the people in the next room moved around. Other than that it was wonderful. Not to mention I was upgraded to an ocean view room with a kitchentte. I loved it!

Just a short walk to the beach, there is a wonderful place that rents Kayaks and Paddle Boards. They will take pics and video of your adventures. The beach is so nice and the water is very clear and calm. You can swin and snorkel for hours and the water is warm. There is also a place next to the beach that sells the best mai tai's. They are truly the best!

I visited some of the beaches there, good location to most shops. I wish our AC worked, it broke the first day and I had to ... get a new AC for my room...new one was good! Parking was bad, charged me $18/day, hotel did not validate due to different ownership of parking structure. To make a comparison to other rooms...this is well below average for me.

The hotel was okay, check in/out was easy and the people were friendly. The rooms are small, and so is the bathroom. Its a ... good place for singles, couples, and business, woudn't reccomend this for families. Great deal if you just need a place to sleep. If you are looking for luxury, though look elsewhere. You will find all the designer stores in the area - I consider it walking distance -- but it is convenient also to go to Hilo Hattie, Ala Moana Center, Aloha Towerplace and of course all the fine stores, shops, dining and entertainment are in Waikiki - and let's not forget the famous ABC Stores and Whaler's - quite bargain stores. It is amazing how they transformed the walkways at Kalakaua Avenue to both a fantastic shopping showplace and dynamic dining experience - from Ferragamo, Channel, Dior to Wolfgang Puck, Cheeseburger & Cheesecake Factory, etc. etc. etc.

The room was okay although the hotel looks old but the rooms are clean and they take out the trash and makes your bed, ... changes your pillow case everyday which is good. It would have been a lot nicer if they had a patio or balcony for some rooms. I would recommend it if you guys are just staying only if you just want to sleep and to shower. The location is good. It is a few minutes away from the beach and there's a lot of shopping centers around and dining places too. Staff was helpful as well.

The good, the bad and the really ugly
Will not be back Sep 7, 2009
The manager was very nice. He placed me on a high floor to avoid any kind of noise which could be coming from the bar on the ... 5th floor which is next to the pool. However, the room was old, which was apparent by looking at the carpet (not to mention the pillows and covers [yuck]); moldy (the bathroom had mold on the title and sink had cracks and stains); and needed an upgrade (window air-condition units should not be at your head level when you are sleeping; buzzing sound is bad enough but its blowing the cold air right at your face). The rooms in the hotel are too close to each other and anytime someone enters room next to yours you can hear slamming of door to the point of waking you up from your ram cycle.

Robert's Hawaii Transportation Service...hmmmm they are the biggest and everywhere. However they didnt let you know that if u want to go to the airport multiple times you would have to buy the roundtrips there. You can not buy them from the hotel or driver in the morning. R/T's are 15.00 and 1 way's are 9.00. The driver don't take credit cards and if they answer the number you are given they don't take credit cards over the phone either. So you are stuck paying one ways. Also they have small vans, car rental shuttle sizes and greyhound buses. Usually more of the buses. If you get on one of thoise at the airport it can take up to two hours to get to your room. They have three stops in the airport, which are two pick ups which they stay there for like 20 minutes a stop trying to fill the bus and the last where they collect everyone's money. Then there is your hotel stop on their list once they leave the airport. It can be number 1 to number 16. Bigger is not always better. Spend a couple of extra bucks on the competitor and save yourself and hour or so each way for like two dollars more. Waikiki is only 8 miles away. Aloha
--Hawaii is a must see!!, San Diego, CA Aug 31, 2009
Instead of buying online excursions, walk down Kuhio Ave. or Kalakaua Ave. and you will find cheap shuttle roundtrip fares plus gear all for one price. Online you will find 40 dollars per person fees just to go snorkel, but if you look around you will get it for 15 dollars per person!

Take city bus 19 or 20 from the airport for 2 bucks and get off at the ambassador hotel (next door to this one). Way cheaper than cab, and hotel charges extra $20 day for parking.
