Staff very friendly, courteous and helpful. Jaime at breakfast was the best. He and the rest of the staff waited on my ... every need. The breakfast was complementary and fantastic. Eggs to order, omelets, crepes, belgian waffles(best ever) and a wide selection of fresh fruits and juices. Open at 7 a.m. (til 11) it allowed me time to eat before going diving. Lock on patio door broke but they repaired it. Close to good restaurants, bars and shopping. I drank tap water in the room with no problems. Fridge and safe in room was nice to have. They provide extra towels(for diving). No fitness center and the pool was closed for repairs. No one told me the pool was closed when I called for res. confirmation and I think that was bogus. It was the slow season so maybe that is the reason. There is no transit system other than taxis. Taxis are on the expensive side so the hotel being close to many places cut out much of that expense if you don't mind walking 0-6 blocks. The hotel does have beach access, it's about a $6-$7 cab ride each way. There are no beaches in the central area. Many dive shops near by and a couple of close piers. I was back from diving every day by 1 p.m. at the latest.

If you get tired of eating just Mexican food all week there is this nice little Thai restaurant called Rock 'n' Java Thai Noodle Bar about a mile away. It is off of Ave. 11 just on the outside of the plaza. They had really good drinks and it was a nice, refreshing atmosphere.

Perfect Vacation
The Happy Honeymooners Sep 21, 2009
Our stay here was so much better than we expected. The hotel is located just on the edge of the downtown area so it is close ... to several beach clubs that are good for snorkeling and swimming and it is also close to shopping. The hotel itself is beautiful, the hotel staff were very friendly. We had an ocean view room and it had a breathtaking view. You are literally 30 feet from the water. The hotel is small enough that it is very quiet but it has free wireless internet and cable so it had all the modern conveniences we needed. Also the Breakfast there is AMAZING! Every morning you get all the fresh fruit you want. They will make eggs and omelets any way you want and they always have fresh squeezed juice that is some of the best I've ever had. I can't say enough about how enjoyable our stay was at Casa Mexicana. We will definitely be taking a trip back in the future!

EXCELLENT TRIP
Sharon Bryant Aug 31, 2009
We loved our stay at Casa Mexicana. The location is perfect. The town square is just a short walk. They have free parking ... just behind the hotel and we always rent a scooter so that was a big plus for us. The hotel was spotless. We always saw someone cleaning something. The breakfast buffet was top of the line. Anything you wanted for breakfast was available. We had an oceanview (pay for the upgrade because it is worth it) on the 4th floor and we could hear the breakfast buffet being set up every morning. That really was the only problem we had. We overcame it by asking the front desk for a fan that we used during the night to drown out the sound. We are taking another trip in January with another couple and we are all staying at the Casa Mexicana!!!

I was very impressed with the location of the hotel. It was a short walk from the ferry to the hotel and a short walk back to ... the market area and plaza.. Wish we could have stayed longer, but had never been to Cozumel and were just there for 1 night. We ate at 2 different restaurants and they were great. As for the downtown shopping it was all very accesible and reasonable too. The town made me feel very secure and didnt see any kind of threat for tourists. The only thing missing here was having more time to stay and enjoy some more time in Cozumel. We were actually coming from a resort on Maroma beach, and that is a complete different thing, but i was very comfortable with my accomidations in Cozumel and i will be back!!!!

Great Stay
honeymooner_of_teh_universe Jul 13, 2009
Casa Mexicana comes highly recommended by my wife and I. When we first arrived at the hotel from the airport bus and the ... driver said "Casa Mexicana" we didn't believe him because you can't even see a hotel. That's why there are no frontal views online. But rest assured it's just that the hotel starts on the second floor of a building and it's very nice once you ascend the escalator. The hotel is right in downtown next to the square with shops and within walking distance of two large Wal-Mart Supercenter-like markets for groceries and things. It's also very near to the ferry docks for going over to the mainland. The room was cleaned spotless everyday and the front desk was always helpful and would exchange currencies for you. We enjoyed walking around the town, out of the tourist areas. Don't be afraid walking around. Everyone was really nice. We really enjoyed renting a scooter, which was our favorite thing. $30 USD for 24 hour rental. We drove the entire perimeter of the island. The East coast is very beautiful and within an hours drive. The gas to drive a scooter all the way around was only about $1.50 USD...definately, definately rent a scooter. We also went to Chichen Itza (one of the seven wonders of the world) which was awesome. If you're going to Chichen Itza, we both went for $100 with a tour group...good deal with everything included. You have to take the Ferry for $11 each then the drive is 3 hours each way into the Mayan jungle of Yucatan All in all this trip was great and Casa Mexicana served as a good relaxing place to sleep. Also, the complimentary breakfast was really good...a whole buffet...I recommend taking some of it up to your room and putting in the refrigerator. That is all.

Located just a couple of blocks away from the central square - makes it easy to walk pretty much anywhere in town. Not a ... large hotel so you are not one of the herd. Great breakfasts in the morning!! Pool is small but if the hotel is not packed it works. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms with ocean view have large balcony so if are scuba diving you can dry out all your stuff out there.

The hotel has few frills, but I was just there to dive. I didn't need any frills. The best feature is that it's close to all ... the great downtown restaurants. The worst part, for me, was it had no pier. I had about a 20 minute walk every day (which gave me about 5-10 minutes to eat breakfast) to get to a hotel further south so I could "sneak" onto their pier to get on the dive boat. If you use a dive op that has a downtown pier, there is a short, couple of minute walk.
